Instantaneous water heater with remote control comparison 2026

The best instantaneous water heaters with remote control, compared.

Top pick: Stiebel Eltron DCE-X 6/8 Premium – Highest score at 69, for a display, two memory keys and the least damaged UK review pattern, at about £344.99. No handset is stated. Best value: Mulcort LF-001 3000 W – About £46.99, tied with the Delousiber, with UK reviews that describe a hand-wash trickle rather than leaks and a 13 A plug on a stated 6000 W load. Updated 21.10.2026.

Peter F.Editor

An instantaneous water heater heats water only while the tap is open. In a UK house the practical split is a compact single-phase unit for one basin, against a 3 kW mini that suits a short hand wash and little else. Useful flow depends on the stated output and on how cold the mains is. It scores 69, the highest in the set, with a display and two memory keys, and no handheld remote is stated. Three listings state a handset: the VexNook, the YUCHENGTECH and one Mulcort. See the [18kW instantaneous water heater](/hub/hot-water/18kw-instantaneous-water-heater) comparison for a higher output, which still needs an electrician. A bath needs stored hot water, which this set does not include. How to size the outlet and the supply, without a ranked table, is in the [instantaneous heater buying guide](/hub/hot-water/instantaneous-water-heater-with-remote-control/sub/instantaneous-water-heater-with-remote-control-buying-guide).

The best instantaneous water heaters with remote control in detail

Stiebel Eltron DCE-X 6/8 Premium

Rank 1

Stiebel Eltron DCE-X 6/8 Premium

∼£345

Our view

The Stiebel Eltron DCE-X 6/8 Premium is listed at about £344.99 as a fully electronic compact heater, model 238158, with a backlit display and two temperature memory keys. Across 25 amazon.co.uk reviews the score is 4.2, and the eight stored texts are all marked United Kingdom, which is a small sample for a £345 appliance. One kitchen-sink review reports a stable set temperature and a clear improvement on two previous Triton Instaflow units. The same listing is a poor bath and shower match in the stored texts: a bathtub buyer describes a normal flow for about five seconds, then a weak trickle, and support pointed that buyer toward a three-phase heater. UK reviews also say it is not an ordinary socket and needs a heavy cable back to the consumer unit. Fitting draws its own complaints, including awkward inlets and a hot outlet on the 8 kW version that left a gap a fibre washer would not close. There is no handheld remote on the UK product page, so the memory keys are the control you actually get.

Pros

  • 4.2 from 25 amazon.co.uk reviews, with eight stored texts all marked United Kingdom
  • Electronic display, two memory keys, energy class A and a 2 year warranty
  • A kitchen-sink review reports a stable set temperature
  • Listed at 6/8 kW, 220–240 V, and 2.5 kg
  • Twin connectors, O-rings, gaskets and a cable grommet in the box

Cons

  • No handheld remote is stated
  • Not an ordinary socket; reviews cite a heavy cable to the consumer unit
  • A bath review describes flow dropping to a trickle after about five seconds
  • European fittings and a short outlet are described as a UK fit problem

Best for: A hard-wired kitchen or utility sink where you want a set temperature and an electrician will confirm the circuit.

Less suitable: A bath fill, a plug-in install, or a search that requires a handset.

Common questions

Does the listing include a remote?

No. The listing states a backlit multifunction display and two temperature memory keys. Those keys are not a handheld remote.

Is it described as a plug-in heater?

A BS 1363 plug is not stated. The cable is prepared for a power connection, and UK reviews say it is not an ordinary socket.

Can it be used on a kitchen sink?

The bullets name kitchens and utility sinks, and one UK review uses it on a kitchen sink. A bath review describes the flow falling away after a few seconds.

VexNook 5500 W with remote

Rank 2

VexNook 5500 W with remote

∼£57

Our view

The VexNook LF-811 is listed at about £56.99 as a 5500 W instantaneous heater with a touch display and an included remote, a set range of 30–55°C, and IPX4 in the bullets. Amazon.co.uk shows 3.9 from 4 reviews. Only three texts are stored, all marked United Kingdom, and one of them is the single word awesome, so almost every practical claim rests on one buyer. That buyer reports a quick rise under a small sink, about 12°C to 40°C, and bottom connections that helped drain a caravan. The same review says the heater switches off after about 5 to 10 minutes, which ruled out a shower, a large bath and a pool for that owner. A 16 A caravan supply was not enough, and the review says the unit needs 32 A. Voltage is not printed on the listing, and no UK plug is stated. Treat the remote as present on the page and unproven beyond those four stars.

Pros

  • Remote and touch display stated, with a 30–55°C range
  • About £56.99, with IPX4 in the bullets
  • One UK review reports about 12°C to 40°C under a small sink
  • Compact listed size, 21 × 15 cm, at 1.85 kg

Cons

  • 3.9 from only 4 reviews, with three stored texts
  • One review says it shuts off after about 5–10 minutes
  • The same review says a 16 A supply was not enough and cites 32 A
  • Voltage and a UK plug are not stated

Best for: A short hand wash at one small sink, if you can return it and an electrician checks the supply.

Less suitable: A shower, a long draw, or a 16 A caravan hook-up.

Common questions

Does it come with a remote?

Yes. The title and bullets say a touch display and an included remote. The set range on the display is 30–55°C.

Is a long shower described as suitable?

A UK review says the unit switches off after about 5 to 10 minutes, so that buyer ruled out a shower and a pool.

What protection is stated?

The bullets state IPX4, water-electricity separation, and a leakage protection device. IPX4 does not mean a bathroom socket is suitable.

Mulcort LF-001 3000 W

Rank 3

Mulcort LF-001 3000 W

∼£47

Our view

The Mulcort LF-001 is listed at about £46.99 as a 3000 W tankless heater at 220 V with an LCD and a maximum of 122°F, which is 50°C. A remote is not stated. Amazon.co.uk shows 3.5 from 23 reviews, and 11 stored texts are marked United Kingdom. Reviewers who are content use it for garage hand washing or a vanity, and only if the flow stays poor. The same texts say it is warm rather than hot, so dishes are out, and more than one review says a kettle at a similar wattage is faster for a basin. A reviewer quotes the instructions at about 2.1 litres per minute at 40°C, and about 1.0 litre per minute when the mains is colder. One report describes no temperature rise at all after several minutes. The title prints 43.2 gallons as a capacity and 43.2 gallons per hour as a flow, so that number is not a stored tank. It is the low shelf price in this set for a display-only mini, with the trickle already written into the reviews.

Pros

  • About £46.99, the joint lowest shelf price in this set
  • 3.5 from 23 amazon.co.uk reviews, with 11 stored UK texts
  • Reviews describe an easy vanity or garage fit, at a listed 1 kg
  • LCD and a 50°C maximum on the listing

Cons

  • No remote is stated
  • Hot water only at a trickle, and dishes are rejected in the reviews
  • A reviewer quotes about 2.1 L/min at 40°C and about 1.0 L/min when the mains is colder
  • The 43.2 figure is printed as both gallons and gallons per hour

Best for: A garage or cloakroom hand wash at a low flow, if you do not need a handset.

Less suitable: Washing up, a shower, or a search that specifically wants a remote.

Common questions

Does it have a remote?

A remote is not stated. The listing states an LCD and temperature adjustment with the water flow.

What is the 43.2 gallon figure?

The spec line calls it capacity. The title calls the same number 43.2 gallons per hour, which is a flow claim. It is not a stored tank.

What temperature is listed?

122°F, which is 50°C, on both the title and the maximum-temperature field.

Briwellna 5.5 kW tankless

Rank 4

Briwellna 5.5 kW tankless

∼£109

Our view

The Briwellna BWK-P33NH55 is listed at about £108.99 as a 5.5 kW non-thermostatic tankless heater at 220 V, with a digital display and no handheld remote. Amazon.co.uk shows 3.4 from 177 reviews. Of the first 50 review texts, 36 are marked United Kingdom, so 177 is not a British-only count. The case is small, about 210 × 172 × 73 mm in the bullets, and some owners use it in a guest bathroom, bedsit, garage or static caravan once an electrician has wired a dedicated breaker. The bullets ask for a 25 A double-pole breaker for one handwashing faucet, and they cap the temperature claim at 40°C. The fault pattern in those texts is wide: leaks, a display that shows heating while the water stays cold, units that stop after days or within six months, and fuses that blow when the heater is set hot. A lower flow is what reviewers use to get a useful rise, and a cold inlet makes that worse. At this price the one-year warranty in the bullets does not offset sellers that reviewers struggle to reach after the easy return window.

Pros

  • 5.5 kW stated, with a 25 A double-pole breaker named in the bullets
  • Compact case, about 210 × 172 × 73 mm, for a single basin
  • Above or under the sink, including upside down, in the bullets
  • 1/2 inch connection and a one-year warranty stated

Cons

  • No remote is stated, and the heater is described as non-thermostatic
  • 3.4 from 177, with leaks and failures from days to six months in the stored texts
  • Maximum temperature claim is 40°C
  • Seller contact after the return window is a repeated complaint

Best for: One fixed-flow hand basin after an electrician fits the 25 A circuit the bullets ask for.

Less suitable: A shower, washing-up that needs real heat, or a buyer who wanted a handset.

YUCHENGTECH 3000 W with remote

Rank 5

YUCHENGTECH 3000 W with remote

∼£60

Our view

The YUCHENGTECH KXY-SY105H is listed at about £59.89 as a 3000 W tankless heater at 220 V AC with a remote, a digital display and a maximum of 55°C. Amazon.co.uk shows 3.3 from 88 reviews. Later texts include France, Spain and Italy as well as the UK, so the points below come from the UK portion. Owners who fit it under a sink or in a vanity often call the plumbing straightforward, and one review says the display shows inlet temperature, outlet temperature and flow. Useful warmth in the UK texts needs a very low flow, including a figure below about 1 litre per minute, and kitchen use is described as tepid. The remote needs a direct line of sight, so it is little use once the case is inside a cupboard. Other UK reports include a stop within a few days, an internal leak a plumber could not cure, and a mains flex described as far too light for 3000 W. The listing also prints both 1200 kPa and 1.2 Pa, and a review says the manual will not allow more than about 1.6 bar.

Pros

  • Remote and display stated, up to 55°C, with IPX4 in the bullets
  • Under-sink, wash-cabinet and several orientations in the bullets
  • About £59.89 at a listed 1.8 kg and 55 mm depth
  • Some owners report an easy fit and a readable display

Cons

  • 3.3 from 88, and UK texts need a trickle for useful warmth
  • The remote fails without a line of sight once the unit is under the sink
  • A flex described as too light for 3000 W, plus early failures and leaks in UK texts
  • The pressure line prints both 1200 kPa and 1.2 Pa

Best for: A cloakroom basin where you can see the unit, and you will return it if the flow has to be a trickle.

Less suitable: Washing up, a hidden cupboard, or a normal tap flow.

Common questions

Does it come with a remote?

Yes. The listing says temperature is adjusted by remote and by touch. UK reviews say the handset needs a direct line of sight.

Can it go under a sink?

The bullets say under the sink, in a wash cabinet, or beside a washing machine, including upside down. A cupboard blocks the remote if the handset cannot see the unit.

What pressure does the listing print?

It prints both 1200 kPa and 1.2 Pa. Those figures contradict each other, so the working pressure is not established from the listing.

Delousiber 6000 W tankless

Rank 6

Delousiber 6000 W tankless

∼£47

Our view

The Delousiber RY-LZT-4 is listed at about £46.99 as a 6000 W tankless heater at 220 V with an LED touch display and a 30–55°C range. A remote is not stated. Amazon.co.uk shows 3.1 from 20 reviews, with 12 stored texts marked United Kingdom. The bullets ask for 2.5 or 4 mm² cable and a fuse of at least 40 A on its own circuit. UK reviews say a regular or 13 A style plug was fitted, one of them with a 20 A fuse, and one reviewer calls a 6000 W unit on that plug dangerous. Two short reviews report about 50°C and still working after six weeks, and one owner says it works once it is moved onto a heavy dedicated feed. The failure cluster is leaks from new, including a second unit, and heaters dead after about two days, two months or ten weeks, plus blown fuses. A higher set temperature still needs a low flow. The title says electric shower and over or under the sink; the stored texts do not support treating the plug as a shower installation.

Pros

  • About £46.99 with a stated 6000 W and a 30–55°C touch display
  • IPX4 and a hardware pack named in the bullets
  • Two UK reviews report about 50°C and still working after six weeks
  • One owner reports it working after a move onto a heavy dedicated feed

Cons

  • No remote is stated
  • 3.1 from 20, with leaks and early failure in the UK texts
  • Bullets ask for at least 40 A while reviews report a 13 A style plug
  • A higher set temperature needs a low flow

Best for: A basin on a dedicated circuit an electrician has already planned, if you accept the 3.1 score and the leak reports.

Less suitable: A 13 A socket, a shower, or a search for a handset.

Mulcort 3000 W with remote

Rank 7

Mulcort 3000 W with remote

∼£58

Our view

The Mulcort listing at about £57.99 is a 3000 W under-sink heater with an LED, a remote and a stated UK plug. The bullets give a set range of 28–55°C, a G1/2 connection, IPX4, and a case of about 20 × 11.5 × 7.7 cm at 1.67 kg. The remote needs two AAA batteries, which are not included. A shower head, hose and bracket are named in the bullets, while the same bullets limit the duty to kitchen sinks, wash basins and compact wash areas. Voltage is not printed as a number, and the buyer is told to check that the socket and circuit suit 3000 W. There is no star line and no review text on the listing we read, so none of those claims has an owner report behind it. A stated plug on a 3000 W load is still a weak home for anything longer than a brief hand wash.

Pros

  • Remote, LED and under-sink mounting stated
  • UK plug and G1/2 connection stated
  • About 20 × 11.5 × 7.7 cm, with IPX4 in the bullets
  • Shower head, hose and bracket named in the bullets

Cons

  • No amazon.co.uk star line and no review text on the listing we read
  • 3000 W on a stated UK plug, a poor home for a long load
  • AAA batteries for the remote are not included
  • Voltage is not printed

Best for: A listing-only 3 kW basin heater, if you will check the circuit before you rely on the plug.

Less suitable: Anyone who wants UK owner reports, a shower, or a handset that has already been tried.

Common questions

Does it come with a remote?

Yes. The bullets say the remote needs two AAA batteries, which are not included.

Does the listing state a UK plug?

Yes. It also states a G1/2 water connection and says the socket and circuit must suit 3000 W. A 13 A plug is a poor home for a long 3 kW load.

Are there amazon.co.uk reviews?

No star line and no review text were on the listing we read. The shower head, hose and bracket are bullet claims only.

How we compared

Scores use the seven amazon.co.uk listings kept on this page. Shelf prices, stars and review counts were read on 20 October 2026. No laboratory test was run. A higher score is a better match to a stated output, an honest supply, and UK review texts that are not dominated by leaks and blown fuses. It is not a verdict that the heater suits every UK bathroom. Weights sum to 100.

1

Stars and sample

30%

Stars are the amazon.co.uk rating divided by 5, times 20, rounded to a whole number. No star line scores 0. The sample adds 0 with no reviews, 2 under 10 reviews, 6 from 10 to 49, 8 from 50 to 99, and 10 at 100 or more. The Stiebel is 4.2 from 25. The Mulcort with a remote has no star line.

2

Control the search asked for

15%

A stated handset scores 15. Memory keys on the case, with no handset, score 8. A display only scores 5. The VexNook, the YUCHENGTECH and one Mulcort state a remote. The Stiebel’s two memory keys are not a handset.

3

Supply honesty

25%

Points fall when the listing hides the circuit, states a UK plug on 3000 W, or asks for a large fuse while reviews describe a 13 A style plug. Briwellna names a 25 A double-pole breaker. Delousiber asks for at least 40 A while reviews report a 13 A style plug.

4

How the water behaved

30%

No review texts score 0. Trickle-only use, a bath or shower that collapses, a timed shut-off, leaks, early failure and blown fuses are deducted. A thin file cannot score as if it had a large sample. The Stiebel keeps the highest behaviour score in this set. The Mulcort LF-001 keeps a higher behaviour score than the leak reports at the same shelf price.

Instantaneous water heater with remote control buying guide

Match the kilowatts to the outlet and the circuit before you pay for a handset. A remote moves the buttons. It does not add flow, and it is not Wi-Fi.

What is an instantaneous water heater with remote control?

An instantaneous water heater heats water only while the tap is open. It does not store a cylinder of hot water. Flow at a useful temperature depends on the kilowatts and on how cold the mains is. In the UK the split that matters is a compact single-phase unit for a basin, versus a 3 kW mini that suits hand-washing and little else. A handheld remote only moves the buttons. It is not Wi-Fi.

Best for

  • A hard-wired kitchen or utility sink where an electrician confirms the circuit
  • A cloakroom or garage hand wash at a low flow, if you do not need a shower

Not ideal for

  • A bath fill, or a kitchen and a shower on one single-phase heater
  • A search that treats a handset as a substitute for amperes

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

Reading a shower bullet as a bath fill

Stiebel does not recommend single-phase instantaneous heaters for filling a bath. A title that says shower, or a bullet that includes a shower head, is not a bath. A 3 kW mini is a hand wash if the circuit can take it.

  2. 2

Buying the remote and ignoring the amperes

A handset only moves the buttons. A stated 6 kW load at 230 V is about 26 A. A 13 A BS 1363 plug is already a poor home for a long 3 kW load. Do not cut a plug off, and do not treat IPX4 as permission for a bathroom socket.

  3. 3

Trusting a tank capacity on a tankless listing

The Mulcort LF-001 prints 43.2 gallons and 43.2 gallons per hour for the same number. That is not a stored cylinder. Expecting a remote to work through a cupboard fails too: the YUCHENGTECH handset needs a line of sight.

What to weigh up

Kilowatts and the outlet

High

Flow at a useful temperature depends on kilowatts and on how cold the mains is. Stiebel Eltron UK’s rule of thumb is kilowatts divided by 2 for litres per minute at about 38°C, and kilowatts divided by 3 at about 50°C. Measure the flow you already have for one minute before you compare a listing with that rule. On it, 3 kW is about 1.5 litres per minute at 38°C and about 1 litre per minute at 50°C.

Supply, plug and control

High

A normal UK house is single-phase, around 230 V. A stated 5.5 kW, 6 kW or 6/8 kW heater needs its own circuit. A stated 6 kW load at 230 V is about 26 A. A 13 A BS 1363 plug is already a poor home for a long 3 kW load. The Mulcort at about £57.99 states a UK plug on 3000 W. Delousiber bullets ask for at least 40 A while reviews describe a 13 A style plug. Briwellna names a 25 A double-pole breaker. The Stiebel listing does not print a breaker, and UK reviews say it is not an ordinary socket.

Which option suits you?

Three typical situations, each with a recommendation from this comparison.

Hard-wired kitchen sink

You want a set temperature at a kitchen or utility sink, and an electrician will confirm the circuit. The Stiebel Eltron DCE-X 6/8 Premium is the top pick: 6/8 kW at 220–240 V, energy class A, a display and two memory keys. It is not a handset, and UK reviews say it is not an ordinary socket.

Cloakroom or garage hand wash

You want a brief hand wash at a low flow and you do not need a handset. The Mulcort LF-001 is the best value at about £46.99. It is 3000 W at 220 V with an LCD. UK reviews describe warm water only when the flow stays poor, and dishes are out.

A basin where you can see the unit

You specifically want a stated handset for a short wash, and you can return the unit. The VexNook LF-811 lists a remote, a 30–55°C touch display and 5500 W at about £56.99. It has 3.9 from only 4 reviews, and one review says it switches off after about 5 to 10 minutes.

Common questions about instantaneous water heaters with remote control

Which instantaneous water heater with remote control is the top pick?
The top pick is the Stiebel Eltron DCE-X 6/8 Premium at about £344.99. It scores 69, the highest of these seven amazon.co.uk listings, with 4.2 from 25 reviews, a display and two memory keys. No handheld remote is stated. The choice is for electronic control and the least damaged review pattern in this set. Twenty-five reviews is a small sample, and this is not a lab test. Best value is a different listing, the Mulcort LF-001 at about £46.99.
How much does an instantaneous water heater with remote control cost?
On these seven amazon.co.uk pages the shelf price runs from £46.99 to £344.99. The entry band is about £47 to £60: two Mulcort listings, the Delousiber and the VexNook. Mid is the Briwellna at £108.99. The Stiebel DCE-X 6/8 Premium is £344.99. A lower price is not best value when the reviews describe a trickle or a failed element within weeks. These are the prices on the listings, read on 20 October 2026, not a market survey.
Does the Stiebel DCE-X come with a remote?
No. The UK product page states a backlit multifunction display and two temperature memory keys, not a handheld remote. Memory keys are not a handset, and none of these listings documents an app or Wi-Fi. Three other listings do state a remote: the VexNook LF-811, the YUCHENGTECH KXY-SY105H and the Mulcort at about £57.99. A handset only moves the buttons. It does not add kilowatts or fix a circuit that is too small.
Can a 3 kW instantaneous heater run a shower?
A 3 kW mini is a realistic job for a cloakroom or garage basin, if the circuit can take it, and little else. Stiebel Eltron’s rule of thumb is kilowatts divided by 2 for litres per minute at about 38°C, and divided by 3 at about 50°C. Winter inlet water makes that worse, and UK reviews of the 3 kW listings here describe a trickle. A shower needs a higher single-phase class and an electrician. Stiebel does not recommend single-phase instantaneous heaters for filling a bath.
Can I plug one of these into a 13 A socket?
A normal UK house is single-phase, around 230 V. A stated 5.5 kW, 6 kW or 6/8 kW heater needs its own circuit. A 13 A BS 1363 plug is already a poor home for a long 3 kW load. The Mulcort at about £57.99 states a UK plug on 3000 W. Delousiber reviews describe a 13 A style plug while the bullets ask for at least 40 A. Do not cut a plug off. What is notifiable is set out in the instantaneous heater installation guide.
Will a remote work from inside a cupboard?
Only if the handset can see the unit. YUCHENGTECH reviews say the remote needs a direct line of sight, so it is little use once the case is inside a cupboard. The Mulcort remote needs two AAA batteries, which are not included, and that listing has no review text. The VexNook states a remote, and one review says it switches off after about 5 to 10 minutes. Buy the handset for a basin you can see, and still check the amperes.
When is a cylinder a better match than an instantaneous heater?
Choose stored hot water when you need a bath, or a kitchen and a shower. Stiebel does not recommend single-phase instantaneous heaters for filling a bath, and this set has no three-phase unit. A tankless listing that prints a litres or gallons capacity is not a stored cylinder. The Mulcort LF-001 prints 43.2 gallons and 43.2 gallons per hour for the same number, so that figure is not a tank. Call an electrician for a new circuit or bathroom-zone work, and a plumber for a mains connection you cannot isolate.

Our verdict

The top pick is the Stiebel Eltron DCE-X 6/8 Premium at about £344.99. It scores 69, the highest here, for electronic control and the least damaged review pattern in this set. No handheld remote is stated, 25 reviews is a small sample, and this is not a lab test. Best value is the Mulcort LF-001 at about £46.99, a different listing. It ties the Delousiber on price, but the Delousiber’s reviews describe leaks and a domestic plug on a stated 6000 W load. The cheaper remote listings are not the value pick: the VexNook has four reviews and a shut-off report, the YUCHENGTECH texts describe a trickle and faults, and the other Mulcort has no reviews. Skip the Stiebel if you need a handset, a bath fill or a plug-in install. Skip the Mulcort LF-001 if you need a remote, washing-up or a shower.
