Best VDE screwdriver

Updated: October 2026

Every insulated set on amazon.co.uk seems to sit between 4.5 and 4.7 stars. That band does not tell you whether the tips are Pozidriv, Phillips, or a cross-head the listing never names. The best VDE screwdriver in this comparison is the one whose printed sizes match the screws you actually meet. The twelve-row table, with shelf prices in GBP, is on the [VDE screwdriver comparison](/hub/hand-tools/vde-screwdriver). The checks before any brand are in the [buying guide](/hub/hand-tools/vde-screwdriver/sub/vde-screwdriver-buying-guide). A 1,000 V line is an insulation claim for a skilled person, not permission to work live on a nominal 230 V supply. Products Compared compared these listings on 15 October 2026. There is no lab test behind the picks.

For UK faceplates and ordinary terminals

UK socket and switch screws are often Pozidriv or slotted. A PH2 tip cams out of a Pozidriv screw. The fixed set whose components line matches that job is the Wera 1060 i/1065 i/6, model 05051576001, at £25.94: PZ1×80 mm, PZ2×100 mm and four slotted sizes from 2.5 mm to 5.5 mm. The amazon.co.uk line is 4.6 from 438 reviews. The same reviews report PZ1 and PZ2 heads snapped after a handful of uses. The head attribute says Phillips and flat, which clashes with the components list, and two orders labelled Pozidriv arrived as Phillips. Open the box before you rely on it. If the screw is a plain Phillips cross, take the twin at £26.98, the top pick in the main comparison. The recess is on the Pozidriv versus Phillips page.

When the screw sits deep

Only one listing here is sold as reduced diameter: the Wera 160 iSS/7, model 05135961001, at £41.80. It is 4.7 from 2,007 reviews. Comments that name a job talk about terminal rails and board screws a fatter shaft will not reach. Against the £26 six-piece, you are paying about £15 more for that reach. The specification table does not list the seven tips. One UK review itemises slotted, Phillips and PZ/S sizes, and that inventory is a review, not the spec. Smaller handles are called thin, and the smaller drivers snap. Buy it when recessed reach is the job and you already know the tips. Skip it if you need a plain PZ2 confirmed on the listing. A board change is a different question, on the consumer unit page.

A first set under £17

Under £17 the star still does not choose. ArmaKit's AKVDE-7 at £9.95 is the best value here for Phillips and slotted work: the bullets name IEC 60900, and the sizes run from 3.5 mm to 6.5 mm slotted, plus PH1, PH2 and a 140 mm tester. It is 4.6 from 58 reviews. Skip it the moment you need Pozidriv. Gunpla at £15.98 prints PZ0, PZ1 and PZ2, and reviewers dispute the marks on the tools. Anesty at £16.90 is 4.7 from 10 reviews and does not print IEC 60900. Afeld's metal is called soft, and BLOSTM only says cross-head.

What not to crown

The BILITOOLS twelve-piece at £55.99 is a pliers kit with Phillips and slotted drivers and no Pozidriv. One review alleges a shock at 480 volts. That single comment keeps the kit off a screwdriver pick. The WEDO at £8.97 is one PH3 with no review line. Bahco's BE-9888S at £28.25 does not list the seven tips, so it stays confirm the tips, not a pick. None of these twelve was tested in a lab.

Common questions

Which set in this comparison fits UK faceplates?
For a Pozidriv faceplate, open the Wera six-piece 05051576001 at £25.94, with PZ1, PZ2 and slotted sizes. Reviews report those tips snapping, and some orders arrived as Phillips, so check the tips before you fit a plate. If the screw is a plain Phillips cross, the other Wera six-piece at £26.98 is the closer match.
Who should skip a Phillips-only set?
Skip it when the screw shows the extra radial ticks of a Pozidriv recess. Afeld, ArmaKit, the Phillips Wera, BLOSTM's unspecified cross-head, the WEDO PH3 and the BILITOOLS pliers kit do not list Pozidriv. A high star rating does not change the geometry. You will cam out of the screw and chew the recess.
Is the slim Wera worth about £42?
It is worth the £41.80 if the screw sits where a standard sleeve will not reach, which is what the 2,007 reviews describe on terminal rails and boards. It is a poor spend if you need a plain PZ2 confirmed on the specification table, because that table does not list the seven tips.
Is Bahco's seven-piece the Pozidriv set?
Not on the evidence in the listing. The bullets do not name the seven tips, and the head attribute says flat. Reviews mention Pozidriv and a missing PZ1, while a third-party description has disagreed with that. Leave the contents unresolved until you see the handles. The shelf price in this extract is £28.25.
Is the cheapest high-star set the best value?
No. Anesty's 4.7 rests on 10 reviews. ArmaKit at £9.95 is the best value here because it names IEC 60900 and prints Phillips and slotted sizes, with 58 reviews and no Pozidriv. Gunpla lists every PZ size, and its reviews dispute the marks.
Does a pliers kit belong in a screwdriver pick?
Only if you went looking for pliers. The BILITOOLS kit at £55.99 adds four pliers to Phillips and slotted drivers. It does not add Pozidriv, and it does not replace a two-pole tester. One shock allegation in the reviews is enough to keep it off a best-driver line. Buy it as a mixed home kit, or buy a screwdriver set instead.
Where is the full table?
The twelve listings sit on the main VDE screwdriver comparison. This page only assigns a job. It does not add CK, Wiha, or a Wera twelve-piece that is not one of these ASINs.
