Weber gas barbecue buying guide for compact UK models

Updated: 16.10.2026

If you are choosing a compact Weber, first check whether the supplied gas connection suits the fuel you intend to buy. This Weber gas barbecue buying guide covers eight single-burner models in our [main comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/weber-gas-barbecue), from the 5.22 kg Go-Anywhere to Q models and two Traveler listings. It excludes Spirit and Genesis barbecues. Work through gas, capacity, format and evidence in that order to avoid an unexpected adapter or excessive weight. Products Compared did not lab-test these grills. A 5.0 score from one or two reviews tells you less than a slightly lower rating from dozens of buyers.

What this comparison includes

All eight products use one main burner, but they solve quite different problems. The Go-Anywhere is the lightest and cheapest at the captured amazon.co.uk price of £169.99. The Q 1100N is a tabletop grill with a stated 1,290 cm² cooking surface, while the Q1000 and Q 1200N listings include stands. The Q2100N and Q2200 provide roughly 2,000 cm² of grate area, and the Traveler models add wheels or a folding cart. The two Traveler Compact entries are different products. Part 1500554 has a 1,872 cm² specification and review-reported EN417 cartridges, whereas part 1501749 has a folding cart, a stated 3.81 kW burner and a 2,065 cm² area. Do not assume fuel fittings or accessories transfer between them.

Settle the gas fitting before the price

Compact Weber models may be designed around a screw-on cartridge, a patio gas bottle, or an adapter path between the two. Weber UK describes Q1-series models as cartridge-first, with an adapter available for a larger bottle, while larger Q families can use patio gas configurations. Inspect the exact model number and included regulator rather than buying fuel from the product title. The Q 1100N reviews describe screw-on canisters and say the regulator and hose arrive with the grill, but the canister does not. One buyer priced a patio-bottle adapter at £55. Reviews of the older Q1000 with stand report mismatches: buyers said the supplied fitting did not match locally available bottles or cans. Those are review reports, not a guarantee that every box is identical. Fuel information is incomplete on several listings. Reviews identify EN417 screw cartridges for Traveler part 1500554, but folding-cart part 1501749 does not state a fitting. The Q2200 and Q2100N extracts also leave it unstated. Our gas bottle or cartridge guide explains the two paths in more detail.

Match grate area and heat to your cooking

A single burner does not create the independent hot and cool zones available on a multi-burner barbecue. These compact models are direct-grilling appliances with a lid, not miniature replacements for every technique used on a full-size trolley. For a couple, the 42 x 26 cm Go-Anywhere or 1,290 cm² Q 1100N can be sufficient. The Q 1100N listing says its grate holds nine burgers, though food size and spacing change the practical number. The Q2100N steps up to 2,065 cm² and a stated 4.1 kW burner, with capacity claimed for up to 12 burgers. The Q2200 specification is slightly larger at 2,106 cm², but its listing provides no burner output, so area alone cannot establish that it cooks faster.

Choose tabletop, stand or folding cart

Tabletop models are compact only if you already have a stable, heat-resistant outdoor surface. The Q 1100N saves floor space and weighs 9.1 kg, but a suitable table remains part of the setup. The Go-Anywhere provides folding legs and a locking lid, so it is easier to place at a picnic or campsite, although you still need safe clearance and outdoor ventilation. A stand improves working height but adds weight and storage bulk. The Q1000 with stand weighs 15.4 kg, while the Q 1200N with stand and side tables is listed at 19 kg. They suit a small patio where the barbecue normally stays assembled. Folding side tables on the Q2200 provide preparation space, but that model weighs 19.7 kg and has no stand in the title. Traveler part 1500554 has wheels and an automatic lid lock, yet its stated 17 kg means you will notice kerbs and steps. One review found its wheels fine on tarmac, acceptable on grass and poor on gravel. Part 1501749 adds a folding cart and side table at 18.2 kg. Choose it for a car-based pitch or patio, not because the word Traveler implies backpack portability.

Read stars and listing fields critically

Review depth changes how much confidence a rating deserves. The Go-Anywhere has 178 reviews at 4.4, the Q 1100N has 76 at 4.4, and the Q1000 has 47 at 4.3. By contrast, the folding-cart Traveler has one review, the Q2200 has two, and the Q 1200N has four. A perfect average from those small samples can change sharply after only one new review. Compare the delivered setup in pounds, not only the shelf price. A tabletop grill may need a table, a cartridge model may need several cans, and a patio-bottle conversion may need an approved adapter. Common questions

Do all eight Weber gas barbecues use the same connection?
No. Reviews identify screw-on canisters for some models, including the Q 1100N and one Traveler, while other listings do not state the fitting. Weber also offers adapter routes for selected Q and Go-Anywhere models. Confirm the exact model number, regulator and manual before buying fuel.
How many people can a single-burner Weber feed?
It depends on grate area and what you cook. The Go-Anywhere listing suggests two to four people, while the Q2100N claims space for up to 12 burgers. Those are capacity indicators, not serving guarantees. Mixed food, turning room and cooking in batches reduce the usable number.
Is a stand worth paying for?
A stand is useful when the barbecue will live on a patio and you lack a safe outdoor table. It adds weight and storage volume, though. If you load the grill into a car frequently, a folding cart or lighter tabletop model may suit you better.
Does every model have a lid thermometer?
No. It is stated on the newer Q and Traveler models in this set, but not on the Go-Anywhere or Q1000 listing. Even where fitted, it reads the cooking chamber rather than food-core temperature.
What should I check before trusting a 5.0 rating?
Check the review count first, then look for detailed reports about fuel, assembly, cleaning and long-term use. In this comparison, several 5.0 ratings rest on only one to four reviews. That is much weaker evidence than a slightly lower average from dozens of buyers.
