Best ventilation grille

Updated: 16 October 2026

The best ventilation grille is the one that matches the hole you already have. A 100 mm duct points at the only stated spigot. A finished rectangle points at a flat plate. A single brick points at a 9 × 3 in louvre. A cupboard points at a small aluminium pair. The [ventilation grilles comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/ventilation-grille) holds the prices. This page says who should buy each listing and who should leave it. The Products Compared editorial team used the amazon.co.uk extracts on 15 October 2026 and did not run an airflow lab. Our top picks

On this page

For a 100 mm duct

If the hose is 100 mm, the top pick here is the black Kair louvre, model DUCVKC244F/S-BK, at £11.49. The face is 155 × 155 mm and the listing states a 100 mm male spigot for Kair duct DUCVKC250 or a 102 mm hose. Across 3,590 ratings it sits at 4.5, and the extract shows rank 1 in Registers, Grilles & Vents. That rank is a sales position. It is not a lab award. Skip it when you have no screws, because none are in the box. Skip it on a soffit you cannot reach again: the face is hard to prise off. The blades are fixed, so they will not shut in a back-draught. Skip Meralo for the same job. The white louvre is 14 × 14 × 5 cm at £7.99, the extract never says spigot, and there is no review block.

For a hole you only need to cover

Match the opening, then the screws. The white Awenta at £9.40 is 300 × 300 mm outside with a 250 × 250 mm grille, an insect screen, and four caps. The Awenta at £4.68 is 150 × 150 mm outside with a 115 × 115 mm grille and the same caps. Screws are excluded on both. Their extracts share one review block, the same 4.6 from 3,748 line, so those reviews are not a separate test of each size. On 15 October 2026 the Vent Systems URL at £12.98 was a 300 × 300 mm white plastic cover for openings up to 252 × 252 mm, with a nylon screen and no screws. The saved listing prints ASIN B0C1Y36S1J while the shop URL is B0BZPM3DZB, so check the live size before you drill. LIRAST’s 300 × 150 mm sheet, £15.85, is the plate whose components line names screws, at 4.6 from 1,355. Some buyers still had none. The white Repa, about 300 × 200 mm at £15.95, draws praise for stiffness across 1,582 ratings at 4.5, and the repeated complaint is the missing screws.

For a brick or a cupboard

A single-brick slot is the Map louvre: dark brown plastic, 260 × 90 mm, for openings up to 229 × 76 mm, with a fixed flyscreen and 4,400 mm² printed, at £3.99. Across 803 ratings at 4.5, reviewers fit it to a broken vent, a shed, and decorative air bricks. One order arrived with brown and white mixed, and the replacement was wrong again. At that price it is the best value in this set for a 9 × 3 in hole. It is the wrong buy for a 100 mm fan, because 4,400 mm² sits below about 7,068 mm². The Leliafleury pack is two aluminium covers, 60 × 150 mm, at £9.49, and 5.0 from five ratings. That is a cupboard cover. Skip it for any outside wall.

What best cannot mean

A best ventilation grille here is conditional. Five ratings at 5.0 on the cabinet pair cannot outrank 3,590 ratings at 4.5 on the Kair, because the jobs differ. Rank 1 is a category position for one ASIN. The Awenta count cannot be used twice, because both files carry the same scrape. It also cannot mean a back-draught shutter. None of the twelve has gravity flaps. A trade grille such as the Manrose 1162W sits outside this comparison. Say top pick for the Kair only when the duct is 100 mm and you can service the mesh. Say best value for the Map only when the hole is a 9 × 3 in slot.

Common questions

Should I buy the Awenta with 3,748 reviews?
Buy an Awenta when the opening matches: 250 × 250 mm under the £9.40 plate, or 115 × 115 mm under the £4.68 plate. Both include four screw caps and exclude the screws. The 4.6 from 3,748 line and the review text are the same in both extracts, so you are not seeing two tests. A trade page for code TRU10 says polystyrene, while Amazon says plastic. Use them as flat covers, and bring screws.
Which plate includes screws?
LIRAST is the listing whose components line says the cover comes with screws. It is the 300 × 150 mm black sheet-steel plate at £15.85. Some reviewers still had to find fixings, so open the packet before you climb. Awenta, Repa, the Kair, and the Vent Systems 300 mm page either omit screws or say they are absent. Meralo’s components field is only a slash.
What if I need a back-draught shutter?
You need blades that close, and that product is not in this set. The Kair louvres are fixed. Cutting the spigot off does not add flaps. A trade shutter such as the Manrose 1162W is sold for a 100 mm outlet and sits outside this comparison. A fixed plate still passes air, and it also passes wind back down the duct. Choose it when a draught on a still day is acceptable.
Is the 5.0 cabinet pair the top pick?
The Leliafleury pair is 5.0 from five ratings, at £9.49 for two 60 × 150 mm aluminium covers. One of the two UK reviews had not been fitted. The other went on a kitchen plinth. The bullets describe oval slots for a cupboard, not a 100 mm duct or a flyscreen. Five ratings cannot outrank a wall grille with thousands of reviews. Skip it for any outside terminal.
Who should skip Meralo?
Skip it if you need a confirmed male spigot, a review pattern, or screws listed in the box. The white PP louvre is 14 × 14 × 5 cm at £7.99, with a flyscreen and a claimed 100 mm fit. The extract has no reviews, and the word spigot does not appear. It can still be worth a look if you can inspect the back first. For a fan already ducted in 100 mm, the Kair states the stub this listing leaves out.
