Commercial griddle buying guide

Updated: 23 October 2026

You are fitting a first countertop flat top into a cafe pass, a stall, or a home kitchen, and the listing title says commercial while the socket is still an ordinary 13 A outlet. This commercial griddle buying guide is the decision before the basket: match the stated watts and the plug line to the supply, then match the plate width and the zones to the food you cook. The [Commercial grill](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/commercial-grill) comparison ranks the ten amazon.co.uk listings in this capture. Prices and star lines are the figures in those listings. We did not lab-test the plates. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you.

What you are actually buying

A commercial electric griddle, in this capture, is a countertop plate with a thermostat, a grease path, and a stated wattage. It is a different appliance from a gas chargrill and from a contact grill. Most bullets describe an iron or cast-iron face about 8 mm thick, plus a splash guard and a tray. None states chrome. Anglia Catering's contrast still applies: you season polished steel, and you leave chrome unseasoned. The word commercial on a title does not promise a stated voltage, a BS 1363 plug, or a parts-and-labour warranty. Nisbets treats cast iron, steel, chrome, and ceramic glass as different plate types.

Supply before width

Sort the capture by watts before a wide photograph wins. The small end is about 1,500 W to 1,700 W. PATIOZA UK-HK-280C states 1,700 W and 240 V, and the file does not name the plug. The middle is about 3,000 W where a UK plug is written down. TAIMIKO TM-818 states 3,000 W and a UK plug. Thirteen amps times 230 V is 2,990 W, so a stated 3,000 W plate is one plug at the ceiling. That figure is arithmetic, not heat at the food. Contender's manual maps a 3.0 kW griddle to one dedicated 13 A socket, and a 2 × 2.5 kW model to two dedicated sockets on separate circuits. The wide listings state 4,400 W. TAIMIKO TM-820/822 writes a double UK plug. TAIMIKO HK-820V states 4,400 W and does not state a plug count. LIROPAU PL818 says 3,000 W in the bullet and 2,200 W in the wattage field. Keep both lines. The commercial griddle 13 amp plug page is the fuse detail.

Width, zones, and the 8 mm plate

One thermostat is one temperature for the whole surface. TAIMIKO TM-818's bullet says 50–300°C and the settings field says 1. Eggs and bacon share a dial, and you move food. Two zones are what the 73 cm bullets claim. TAIMIKO TM-820/822's bullet says double temperature control, while its settings field says 1. MOOTACO MOO-610T/820T-DE's bullet gives two knobs from 50–300°C, and the settings field again says 1. Buy the bullet you can live with. H2 Products sketches about 20–40 covers an hour on a 40 cm plate and 40–80 on a 60 cm plate. Caterzone's table does not match, and neither figure was counted on these ASINs. Treat both as rules of thumb. An 8 mm plate is what the amazon bullets state. A dealer preference nearer 15 mm is that shop's opinion. Where the dimension line and the bullet disagree, measure both.

What the amazon prices do not include

The capture runs from about £89.90 to about £199. Appliances Direct lists the Parry 3013 at about £682.80 for a 750 mm plate, 2 × 3 kW, two 13 A plugs, and two-year parts and labour on that page. The Parry CGR2 there is about £430.80 for 560 mm, 3 kW, and one 13 A plug. You pay several hundred pounds for a brand, a warranty you can read first, and a supply line that is not a bullet. None of these ten listings states chrome. Three MOOTACO ASINs share one written review block at 4.1 from 114. The paragraphs do not prove three separate tests. If the socket is already sorted, the best commercial electric griddle UK page names one listing.

Common questions

Is 8 mm thick enough for a cafe?
Eight millimetres is what these amazon.co.uk bullets state, including the TAIMIKO TM-818. It will cook a short run if the watts match the socket. Some UK dealers prefer a plate nearer 15 mm, and that figure is their opinion, not a test of these ASINs. A heavy cold load pulls an 8 mm plate down faster. If you need that reserve, you are on the trade shelf.
Do I need two zones for a breakfast menu?
You need two zones when eggs and bacon must sit at different heats at once. TAIMIKO TM-818 states one thermostat, so you shuffle food. The 4,400 W bullets claim two controls, and two files also have a settings field that says 1. Two zones mean more power. Confirm the plugs before you treat a 73 cm plate as the breakfast line.
Will 3,000 W run on one UK plug?
A stated 3,000 W plate with a stated UK plug is one 13 A connection at the ceiling. Thirteen amps times 230 V is 2,990 W, which is arithmetic. Contender's manual puts a 3.0 kW griddle on one dedicated 13 A socket. TAIMIKO TM-818 states the plug and the wattage, and it does not state voltage. A 4,400 W plate needs a second circuit.
Why is a Parry several hundred pounds more?
The Parry 3013 is about £682.80 on Appliances Direct for 750 mm, 2 × 3 kW, two 13 A plugs, and two-year parts and labour on that page. The Parry CGR2 is about £430.80 for a 3 kW plate with one plug. These amazon listings top out at about £199 and often leave voltage or plug count blank. You pay for the stated supply and the warranty.
Does commercial on the title mean a catering standard?
In this capture it is a word in the title. It is not a BS 1363 plug, a voltage, or a catering warranty. TAIMIKO HK-820V says 4,400 W and does not state a plug count. LIROPAU PL818 says 3,000 W in the bullet and 2,200 W in the wattage field. Read the rating plate. If the plug line is empty, the title has not done the job.
