Gas BBQ hose and regulator

Updated: 23 October 2026

The screws are in and the carton has no gas pipe. That is normal on several of these amazon.co.uk listings. A gas BBQ hose and regulator is often a second purchase, and it has to match the bottle you own. This page is the included line for the nine barbecues in the [black gas BBQ comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/black-gas-bbq). Which gas to choose is on [propane or butane](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/black-gas-bbq/sub/black-gas-bbq-propane-or-butane). Peter F. used those lines and Calor’s regulator split on 20 October 2026. Why the hose is often a second purchase

Calor’s help page says most barbecues include a hose and that you should still read the description, because some are sold without one. Cadac sells the hose separately on purpose: one regulator cannot fit every bottle. In this set the Campfire bullet states the exclusion. UK reviews on the Original, the covered 4+1, and both Pro Deluxe pages say the pipe was missing after the box was opened. Budget it before the first cook. One Campfire reviewer paid about £18. That is one review, not today’s Calor kit price. A cheap kit at the wrong millibar costs more than £18 once the gas is connected. If the page says the regulator is not included and names 37 mbar propane or 28 mbar butane, that sentence is the shopping list.

Which listings in this set include a hose

The Emberr included line says propane hose and regulator, and the bullet calls it a clip-on. The Platinum bullet claims a 37 mbar propane hose, while the included line lists a lid, a thermometer, and a tool holder. Three ratings do not confirm the hose was there. The Campfire bullet excludes the hose. The Original included line is a lid and a rack. Both Pro Deluxe ASINs, model 93416, exclude it, and a cover is not a regulator. The Weber Q included line says barbecue grill. The Traveler names a spatula. Neither names a hose.

Patio clip-on, butane clip, and screw-in propane

Patio gas uses a 27 mm propane clip-on, the green 5 kg and 13 kg bottles. A 29 mbar butane regulator suits Campingaz-style bottles, a 21 mm clip-on is another butane fitting, and red propane cylinders take a screw-on regulator. A 27 mm clip does not fit a red valve, and tape is not an adapter. The Pro Deluxe propane path is 37 mbar, the GOV.UK nominal for propane cylinder appliances. Their butane path is printed as 28 mbar, while the official nominal is 29. The Emberr and the Platinum bullet are propane claims. Calor’s patio kit is a 37 mbar clip-on with a 1 m hose, named to EN 16129 and, for the hose, EN 16436-1 Class 2 and BS 3212 Type 2. A 1 m hose may be short beside a 149 cm trolley.

Reusing an old hose

Reuse an old hose only when the regulator’s gas and millibar match the plate, the rubber is not cracked or taped, and the clip suits this bottle. A lower-pressure set was the wrong input in one Pro Deluxe review. If the old regulator says butane and the plate says 37 mbar propane, retire it. Cadac’s five-year replacement interval is maker advice, not a statute. Replace sooner if a joint will not hold soapy water. The leak test is on how to use a gas BBQ: knobs off, soapy water, no flame. If it still bubbles, stop and use a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not drill the pipe to make the wrong regulator fit. How wide a trolley you needed is on the gas BBQ buying guide.

Common questions

Why did the barbecue arrive with no hose?
Because several of these listings never included one. The Campfire bullet says so. The Pro Deluxe bullets say so and name the pressures you have to buy. UK reviews on the Original and the covered 4+1 say the pipe was missing. Calor’s own help page tells you to check the description rather than assume every barbecue is complete.
Which of these black gas BBQs include one?
The Emberr included line names a propane hose and regulator. The Platinum bullet claims a 37 mbar propane hose, and the included-components line does not. The Campfire, the Original 4+1, the covered 4+1, and both Pro Deluxe listings do not include one. The Weber Q and the Traveler do not name one.
What is a 27 mm clip-on?
It is the connector Calor uses for green patio-gas bottles, the 5 kg and 13 kg propane cylinders aimed at barbecues. It is a propane fitting at the patio-gas regulator’s pressure, typically 37 mbar on a barbecue kit. It is not the fitting for a red screw-in propane cylinder or for a butane cartridge.
Will a patio-gas regulator fit a red propane cylinder?
No. Calor treats red screw-in propane as a different regulator from the 27 mm patio clip-on. The clip will not seal that valve, and tape is not an adapter. If your bottle is the red screw-in type, buy the screw-on propane regulator, not the patio kit.
Is 37 mbar the right propane regulator?
It is the nominal propane pressure on the GOV.UK cylinder-appliance table, and it is the propane figure the Pro Deluxe, Emberr, and Platinum bullets are pointing at. Use it when the plate says propane at 37 mbar. Do not use it on a butane bottle, and do not use a 28 mbar or 29 mbar butane regulator on propane.
Can I reuse the hose from my old barbecue?
Only if the regulator matches this plate’s gas and millibar, and the hose is undamaged. An old lower-pressure set was the wrong input in a Pro Deluxe review. Cadac’s five-year replacement interval is maker advice, not a law. Cracks, bulges, or a joint that bubbles mean you replace it now.
