How to use a BBQ trolley

Updated: 23 October 2026

The box is open, or the cooker is already hot and you want to roll the cart closer to the table. How to use a BBQ trolley starts before the first bolt: count the fixings, lock the wheels that have locks, and leave a hot barbecue until it is cool. This page is the sequence. It does not rank the seven listings. That table is the [barbecue trolley comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/barbecue-trolley). Oven surfaces belong on the [pizza oven stand](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/barbecue-trolley/sub/barbecue-trolley-pizza-oven) page. Listings and UK review notes were checked on 20 October 2026. Before you tighten a bolt

Every kept listing says assembly is required. Photograph the top before you build. Count nuts, bolts and washers against the sheet. Nomiou reviews describe short screws, missing nuts and leg sockets blocked by burrs. PARGRILL reviews describe soft screw heads. If the count is already short, stop. A dead video is not a reason to guess the bolt order. Nomiou’s QR code is described as unavailable in the UK, and the paper sheet shows parts without steps. The shorter Onlyfire’s instructions are described as unclear. BBQMall’s box, in one UK review, contains no tools.

Assemble and fold

One UK review of the shorter Onlyfire used a Phillips screwdriver and 13 mm spanners. One Nomiou review that succeeded took about 40 minutes with the tools in the box. There is no single torque. If a screw head is already rounding off, as on PARGRILL, stop and replace the screw. MDDK’s bullets say the table opens without tools, and the listing also says assembly is required. BBQMall’s bullets claim a fold in about 20 seconds. One UK review says the fold can trap fingers. Keep your hands off the hinge line.

Lock, then load

Lock the wheels the listing says will lock, before the cooker goes on. PARGRILL states four swivel wheels with brakes. MDDK states two lockable swivel wheels. BBQMall’s bullets mention safety locks on two wheels. Both Onlyfire carts and Nomiou state two wheels and a side handle, and brakes are not stated. On those carts you lift the back. Load the cart cold. Put the oven or grill on the main top, not on the side leaf. The longer Onlyfire’s side extension is called light duty. PARGRILL’s 88 kg line and Onlyfire’s 40 kg line are stated loads, not a result we weighed. Nomiou, MDDK and Yvsevnr state no kilogram rating. The shorter Onlyfire’s bracket is stated up to 9 kg. That is not a promise your regulator fits another cart’s hole.

While it is hot

Wheels are for a cold cart. GOV.UK says to let a barbecue cool before you move it, and not to use one indoors, in a tent, under an awning or in a caravan. London Fire Brigade says not on a balcony and not on decking. A brake does not change that. The Ooni Koda 2 Max UK manual, for that oven, says not to move it during use and to keep at least one metre from combustible material. If you need to turn a pizza, walk around the cart. If you smell gas and cannot isolate the cylinder, or the hose is damaged, stop. A wheeled table is not that repair.

If it will not go together

Missing nuts, legs that will not seat, or a dented top are faults. Photograph them. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 22, you have 30 days to reject faulty goods. A change of mind on an online order is the separate 14-day cancellation. Drilling the frame or hammering a dent flat makes that conversation harder. UK reviews report rust after rain on the longer Onlyfire and, after weeks, on PARGRILL, including under a cover. Wipe a stainless top and dry it. Load and brakes are chosen in the buying guide.

Common questions

What should I check before I build it?
Count every nut and bolt against the sheet, and photograph dents before you assemble. Nomiou reviews cite short screws and missing nuts. The longer Onlyfire reviews cite dented tops. If the bag is already short, contact the seller inside the 30-day rejection period.
What if the QR code is dead?
Use the paper sheet only if it shows the order of the bolts. Nomiou reviewers say the video link does not work in the UK and the paper shows parts without steps. Guessing the order is how leg sockets get forced. If you cannot tell which rail is which, stop and ask the seller for a UK copy of the instructions.
When do I lock the wheels?
Lock them before the cooker goes on, and only on carts that state a lock. PARGRILL states four braked swivel wheels. MDDK states two lockable swivel wheels. Onlyfire and Nomiou do not state brakes, so you lift the back. Check the lock again after you set the cart.
Can I roll the trolley while the barbecue is hot?
No. GOV.UK says to let a barbecue cool before you move it. The Koda 2 Max manual, for that oven, says not to move it during use. Rolling a lit cooker to chase the wind is how a cart tips and how a cylinder hose snags. Move the cart cold, then light the cooker.
Can the cart live outdoors?
The listings are outdoor prep carts. A bullet that also says indoor is not permission to light a barbecue indoors. UK reviews report rust after rain on the longer Onlyfire and, after weeks, on PARGRILL, including under a cover. A stainless label is not a rust test.
When do I stop and treat it as a gas fault?
Stop if you smell gas and cannot isolate the cylinder, if the hose is cut, or if the job is fixed pipework. That is a gas-competent person’s work. A bracket stated up to 9 kg, or a hole that will not pass a regulator, is a furniture limit.
