Tabletop gas plancha or trolley

Updated: 23 October 2026

You already have a garden table you trust, or you want the plate at standing height. Choosing a tabletop gas plancha or trolley is the split in this set: the Buffalo CR886 at £178.79, the Happy Garden BQ501 at £164.59, or the Onlyfire plancha cart at £249.99. The [3 burner gas griddle comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/3-burner-gas-griddle) holds the three amazon.co.uk listings checked on 20 October 2026. Shelf prices move, so treat those pounds as that day's extract. A solid, level, non-combustible table points you to a tabletop. Buy the cart only if you need the height and the wheels, and you accept assembly plus a thin review line.

A plate that sits on a table

A portable 3 burner plancha here sits on furniture you already own, and you carry it there. That is the Buffalo CR886 and the Happy Garden BQ501, and neither listing claims wheels. The Buffalo is printed at 47 × 63 × 24 cm and 16.3 kg, and its bullets say a regulator is included. The Happy Garden is printed at 11.1 kg, and the included line names a catch tray. Patio-gas fittings sit on the 3 burner gas plancha buying guide. A Buffalo at 16.3 kg on a plastic garden table that already bows is the usual failure: the top flexes and the hose takes the strain. Use a solid, level, non-combustible surface, with the cylinder on the ground. UK text says the legs can snap, and a sturdier table does not repair that. If the table is sound, height is the only reason to look at the cart.

A cart you stand at

The Onlyfire is a wheeled gas griddle sold as one cart: 88 × 40 × 98.5 cm, 23.4 kg, £249.99, wheels claimed, a side shelf, and assembly required. The included line names a lid. About 98.5 cm is near a worktop, standing height for many adults. Buy it when the table forces you to cook hunched over. The gap is about £71 over the Buffalo and about £85 over the Happy Garden, for the frame and the wheels. Stars are 3.2 from 11, with UK text on rust. If it will sit in British rain with no cover, leave it even when you want the height. Plate and stars sit on the best 3 burner gas griddle page.

What other trolleys show

Other UK shops often sell a gas plancha with stand: a tabletop-sized plate, then a separate trolley underneath. Dellonda's DG250 page describes a body of 650 × 470 × 240 mm and a trolley of 945 × 590 × 815 mm, and it states a regulator and hose. On 20 October 2026 one extract showed £224.98 and another retailer showed £324. Next lists a Callow plancha with a detachable wheeled stand at £210, outside this set. The height is 75 cm once the stand is on. At about 180 cm tall, 75 cm is still a bend. The Onlyfire's 98.5 cm is closer to a counter.

Storage and moving

Liquid Gas UK Code of Practice 33 treats these leisure appliances as outdoor-only unless marked otherwise. If the cart is unstable, including in wind, shut the cylinder and disconnect before you move it. A lit roll over a slab edge spills the grease tray and pulls the hose. A review from outside the United Kingdom says storing a folded Onlyfire upright damages the tray. With a solid table, buy a tabletop. Happy Garden is lighter and cheaper, with thinner evidence of a hose in the box. Buffalo costs and weighs more, and it carries the UK notes about snapped legs. Buy the Onlyfire only for wheels and standing height, accepting assembly and 3.2 from 11. Leave it if you have no rain cover, if you will not build it, or if the only space is a balcony. London Fire Brigade's April 2024 leaflet says not to barbecue on a balcony, and a trolley does not change that.

Common questions

Can I put a 16 kg plancha on a plastic garden table?
A flexing plastic top is the wrong surface for the Buffalo CR886 at 16.3 kg. A patio table that already bows will rock once the plate and the food are on it. Use a solid, level, non-combustible surface, with the cylinder on the ground. If a leg has snapped, stop and ask a competent person whether the joint is still gas-tight.
Is the Onlyfire tall enough to cook standing up?
The Onlyfire cart is listed at 98.5 cm, close to a kitchen worktop, so many adults can cook standing. A much shorter or taller cook will still reach for the far edge. A Callow stand outside this set is 75 cm once fitted, still a bend for someone around 180 cm. The Onlyfire figure is the whole cart after assembly, at a listed 23.4 kg.
Does a cart include the regulator if the tabletop does?
In this set the cart has its own box list. Buffalo bullets say a regulator is included. Happy Garden's included-components line names a catch tray. Onlyfire's included-components line names a lid. Dellonda's DG250 page states a regulator and hose, and that claim stays on Dellonda. Look in the carton before the first connection, and match the regulator to the cylinder you already own.
Is a £99 tabletop outside this set a better idea?
It can be, when price is the gap and you already have a solid table. An Outsunny on amazon.co.uk was £99.99 on 20 October 2026, with no assembly and 4.8 from seven reviews. That sample is smaller than the Buffalo's 29, and the model sits outside the three listings here. It has no standing height and no wheels.
Will wheels let me move it while it is lit?
Move a wheeled gas griddle only after the burners are out and the hose is off. Liquid Gas UK Code of Practice 33 says to shut the cylinder and disconnect before you move an unstable appliance. Rolling a lit plancha over a slab edge can spill the grease tray and pull the hose. Let the plate cool, close the cylinder first, then use the wheels.
Who should skip the cart even if they want height?
Skip the Onlyfire if you have no cover and UK comments mention rust, if you will not assemble a 23.4 kg frame, or if the only place to cook is a balcony. Standing height is its case, at £249.99 against £164.59 and £178.79, with 3.2 from 11 reviews.
