Updated: 23 October 2026

You want eggs, smash burgers and prawns on a flat outdoor plate, and amazon.co.uk mixes a hob pan, a loose steel insert, a two-burner and a hooded gas barbecue. This 3 burner gas plancha buying guide is the check before any shortlist. Name the plate, the power figure you trust, whether a regulator is listed in the box, and a legal place to stand the appliance. Prices we kept on 20 October 2026 run from £164.59 to £249.99, and they are not a ranking. The [3 burner gas griddle comparison](/hub/grills-and-barbecues/3-burner-gas-griddle) sets Buffalo, Happy Garden and the Onlyfire cart together.

What counts as a 3 burner gas griddle

A 3 burner gas griddle is an outdoor LPG plancha: one solid plate over three burners you control separately. A hob pan, a loose plate for grill bars and a hooded barbecue stay different objects, even when the title says griddle. Amazon.co.uk calls the same outdoor plate a plancha or a griddle, so burner count and fuel matter more than the photo. A hob pan never needs a patio-gas bottle. A two-burner or a four-burner changes the width and the gas you must supply. The usual miss is a hob pan in the basket: it has no 27 mm patio-gas clip and no outdoor rating.

Plate, power and what the box lists

Buffalo CR886 bullets give 630 × 360 mm. Happy Garden BQ501 bullets give enamelled steel at 60 × 35 cm. The Onlyfire cart gives a ceramic-coated plate of 22.5 × 14 inches, stated as 315 square inches. Enamel and ceramic still need oil. Happy Garden states three burners at 2 kW and a wattage field of 6 kW, which add up. Onlyfire prints 7 kW on both fields. Buffalo's title and bullets say 7.5 kW, and the wattage field prints 2,560 W. Do not average those lines, and do not treat 7.5 kW as a measured output. UK patio gas is normally propane on a 27 mm clip-on regulator at 37 mbar. Buffalo's bullets say a regulator is included, while Happy Garden lists a catch tray and Onlyfire lists a lid. A bullet is not the part in your hand. Calor suggests a 5 kg patio bottle as a guide for up to three burners.

Where you are allowed to stand it

Stand a 3 burner gas griddle outdoors on a solid, level, non-combustible surface, with the cylinder outside and clear of the plate. Balconies, kitchens and tents are outside that brief. London Fire Brigade's April 2024 leaflet says not to barbecue on a balcony or indoors, and Sandwell Council says not to store a barbecue or bottled gas on a balcony. If a balcony is your only pitch, skip the purchase. Buffalo and Happy Garden are tabletops. The Onlyfire is a cart, about 88 × 40 × 98.5 cm and 23.4 kg, with assembly required. Liquid Gas UK treats leisure barbecues as outdoor-only unless marked otherwise. BS EN 498:2012 covers outdoor LPG barbecues and contact grills, and Products Compared did not test these planchas to it. Call a competent person if a soapy-water check keeps bubbling, or if you smell gas with the valve shut. A Gas Safe check is the landlord case, not a booking every owner must make for a patio bottle. Lighting and oiling sit on the how to use a gas plancha page.

What this guide will not choose for you

Happy Garden at £164.59, Buffalo at £178.79 and the Onlyfire cart at £249.99 are amazon.co.uk prices from 20 October 2026, and this page does not rank them. Happy Garden's review count is not labelled as United Kingdom buyers in our file. Who should take which listing is the best 3 burner gas griddle page. A hooded gas barbecue is the better buy when you want grill bars, a lid and indirect heat. A plancha will not replace a closed lid. Buy only when you can name the plate, the power line you trust, the regulator and a legal place to stand it.

Common questions

Is a 3 burner gas griddle the same as a griddle pan for the hob?
No. A hob pan sits on an indoor ring and has no patio-gas fitting. A 3 burner gas griddle is an outdoor LPG plancha with three burners under one flat plate. Search lists them together because both are called a griddle. A pan handle, with no burner count and no LPG marking, means kitchenware.
Do I need propane or butane, and is the regulator in the box?
Outdoor patio gas in the UK is normally propane on a 27 mm clip-on regulator at 37 mbar. Butane, often at 28 mbar, and Campingaz need different regulators. Happy Garden names both gases and gives no pressure in our file. Buffalo's bullets say a regulator is included. Happy Garden lists a catch tray, and Onlyfire lists a lid. Buy a matching regulator unless that line names one.
What plate size feeds a household?
These three plates cluster around 2,000 to 2,300 cm². Buffalo is listed at 630 × 360 mm, Happy Garden at 60 × 35 cm of enamelled steel, and the Onlyfire cart at 22.5 × 14 inches, stated as 315 square inches. That is a household surface for eggs, burgers, prawns and vegetables in zones. A two-burner is less width. A four-burner is more plate and more gas.
Why do some listings show two different power numbers?
The title and the wattage field sometimes disagree. Happy Garden's three burners at 2 kW match a 6 kW field. Onlyfire prints 7 kW in both places. Buffalo's title and bullets say 7.5 kW, and the wattage field prints 2,560 W. Leave those Buffalo figures side by side. They are not an average, and 7.5 kW was not measured for this guide.
Can I use a 3 burner gas griddle on a balcony?
No. London Fire Brigade's April 2024 leaflet rules out barbecues on balconies and indoors. Sandwell Council also says not to store a barbecue or bottled gas on a balcony. Carbon monoxide and a cylinder in a confined space are the reasons. If your only pitch is a flat balcony, do not buy.
Does enamel or ceramic change oil and cleaning?
Both still need oil. Happy Garden's enamelled plate and Onlyfire's ceramic coating are not a dry non-stick pan, and they are not bare cast iron you season for months. Wipe them, because a scourer takes the coating with the residue. A bare plate about 6 mm thick is a different budget and sits outside these three listings.
