Cast iron griddle for Weber

Updated: 23 October 2026

You own a Weber Spirit or a Genesis and you want a flat top, and a 50 cm cast iron griddle from a hob search looks close enough. It is the wrong object if you need an insert. A 2025 Spirit is not the same shell as a 2016 Spirit. Match the printed model and year, or buy a universal plate to sit on the grate. Hob plates in the wider set are on the [cast iron griddle plate comparison](/hub/grill-accessories/griddle-plate-cast-iron). Prices are amazon.co.uk and Weber UK figures from 19 October 2026. Three different objects

A hob plate, a half insert, and Weber part 6790 do not interchange. The hob plates here are reversible rectangles, about 42–51 cm long, meant to sit on burners or on bars. Inside a Spirit or Genesis cookbox that rectangle leaves gaps or rocks. The inserts are two onlyfire plates, both about £59.99, and they are different castings. One is the Genesis II plate, 47.8 × 34 × 1.3 cm and 7.07 kg. The other is the Spirit-family plate, about 44 × 29.5 × 1.3 cm and 5.73 kg. Merging them because the brand and the price match is how the wrong box arrives. Weber 6790 is porcelain-enamelled cast iron, full size, £189.99. It lists Spirit 4-burner grills from 2025, Spirit and Spirit II 3-burner grills from 2016–2024, and Searwood. It does not fit every Spirit. Measuring a rectangle is the cast iron griddle plate buying guide.

Genesis II plate

onlyfire’s Genesis plate limits fit to Genesis II and Genesis II LX 300-series grills from 2017. It is about £59.99, 47.8 × 34 × 1.3 cm, and 7.07 kg, the heaviest weight in the set. Stars are 4.6 from 66 reviews, and only three UK review texts are in the file. One review describes half a Genesis II E310 as bars and half as the plate. Measure the grate you remove before you order. This is not a Spirit part and it is not a hob plate. One review said it needed seasoning and then cooked well. Bare iron still wants a thin coat of oil. If it rocks on the ledges, return it. A rocking insert dumps fat onto the burners.

Spirit plate

The Spirit onlyfire plate is about £59.99, about 44 × 29.5 × 1.3 cm, and 5.73 kg, with 4.6 from 147 reviews. The bullet fits stated Spirit I and II 300-series grills with front controls, some 2025 four-burners, and listed older Genesis cookboxes. It does not fit Spirit 3-burner grills made since 2025. Weber 6790 is the enamelled full-size part for a different slice of the range, at £189.99. Reviews mostly praise the fit when the shell is right. That does not prove your shell. One first unit rocked and the replacement sat properly. One return cited hot spots. Reviews say you still season it.

If your model is not on the list

If the printed list does not name your grill, do not file the corners until an insert drops in. A plate that almost fits will rock and leak fat onto the burners. Consumer Rights Act 2015 section 22 gives 30 days to reject goods that do not conform. Heat it once properly before you decide a hot spot is a warp. If your model is on neither onlyfire bullet nor the 6790 list, use a universal plate on the grate and keep the bars. nuovva and OVERMONT are the picks for that job. Do not drop a 50 × 25 cm hob plate into the cookbox. A 2025 Spirit 3-burner is refused on the onlyfire Spirit bullet. A Genesis II 300-series grill from 2017 is what the other bullet is written for.

Common questions

Will the Genesis II plate fit a Spirit?
Treat them as different plates. One listing is for Genesis II and Genesis II LX 300-series grills from 2017. The other is the Spirit-family listing. Do not order the Genesis casting for a Spirit because both say onlyfire and both cost about £59.99. Read the bullet, then measure the grate.
Which Spirit years are excluded?
The Spirit onlyfire bullet excludes Spirit 3-burner grills made since 2025. It claims Spirit I and II 300-series grills with front controls, some 2025 four-burners, and listed older Genesis cookboxes. Weber 6790 is a different list, at £189.99. If the year is unclear, use the serial number.
Can I run half grate and half plate?
Yes. A Genesis II E310 review used half the cookbox as bars and half as the plate. You need the original bars for the other half, and the plate has to sit without rocking. Weber 6790 is the full-size enamelled part, not a half plate you mix with bars in the same way.
Is Weber’s own griddle the same product?
No. Part 6790 is porcelain-enamelled cast iron, full size, at £189.99. The onlyfire plates are bare half inserts at about £59.99, and their fit lists are not the 6790 list. Enamel does not need the seasoning coat that bare iron does.
Does it need seasoning?
The Spirit listing asks and does not answer. Reviews say yes. One Genesis review says season it, then it cooked well. Wash off shipping film, dry the plate over gentle heat, and wipe on a thin coat of edible oil.
What if the first one rocks?
Return it. One Spirit review said the first unit rocked and the replacement sat properly. A rock is a casting or a wrong shell, not a seasoning fault. You have 30 days to reject goods that do not match the fit you were sold.
