Wire reinforced suction hose vs a pressure washer kit

Updated: October 2026

You can see a clear tube with a steel spiral and a short yellow hose with a filter, and both are called a suction hose. One looks harder to crush. The other looks ready to click onto a washer. This comparison is that fork only: PATIKIL or Meksular against a coupled pressure washer kit, using the amazon.co.uk listings from 15 October 2026. It is not a ranking of all ten, and it is not a water-butt setup. The full table is the [suction hose comparison](/hub/garden-watering/suction-hose). Products Compared did not pressure-test either wall. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What is actually in each box

PATIKIL is £14.29, 4.6 from 54 reviews, 3 m on the title and in the catalogue, 13 mm inside, 19 mm outside and a 3 mm wall, clear PVC with a spiral steel wire. The packing list is one hose. Clamps, a strainer, a non-return valve and a washer coupling are not included. Cutting can unwind the steel spiral, so leave the wire end tidy. Meksular is £23.99, 5.0 from two reviews, 3 m, and the bullets claim two hose clips. The title says 32 × 38 mm and a bullet says 16 × 22 mm. Two reviews are not a durability test. TOPWAYS, the yellow-kit example, is £11.99 with a mesh filter, a claimed check valve and quick connectors, and 3 m on title and catalogue. A clip is not that connector. PATIKIL and Meksular do not claim a K2–K7 fit. The type choice, before this fork, is the buying guide.

Helix versus fibre mesh

UK reviews of PATIKIL describe a hose you do not squash flat by hand. The yellow kits state a PVC outer, a fibre mesh and a rubber inner, not a steel wire. TOPWAYS uses that three-layer description and a check valve, and UK reviews say the wall collapses under suction. Fibre mesh is not a steel spiral by another name. VEATON is a corrugated pump kit and sits outside this fork. Diameter is settled on PATIKIL, at 13 mm inside, and not on Meksular. One PATIKIL review title says “25mm hose”, which does not match the listing. Meksular states 8 bar working and 24 bar burst. PATIKIL lists no maximum pressure. Neither figure is lance pressure. We do not claim PATIKIL meets BS EN ISO 3994, and a fuel mention on the listing is not a petrol-hose approval.

When a kit already includes the helix

UK shops sell the combination this amazon set splits. Lawn & Power lists a 3/4 inch × 3 m wire-reinforced kit with a weighted filter at £50.27 including VAT. Dandas lists a 3 m reinforced pipe with a weighted filter at £59.99 including VAT, and tells you to check the machine. Kärcher’s SH 5 is a finished 5 m washer hose with a filter and a non-return valve, £33.49 on the Kärcher UK shop, stated for K 1 to K 7. That is not PATIKIL, and it is not a yellow marketplace kit. About £14 buys PATIKIL’s tube and leaves the clamps, filter and adapter to you. About £12 buys TOPWAYS’ coupling and filter, with UK reviews of a collapsing wall. About £50 to £60 buys a trade kit that already joins a helix to a weighted filter. Those trade prices are not amazon.co.uk shelf prices for the ten ASINs.

Which side of the fork to buy

Choose the yellow kit when you want a filter and a connector in one parcel, and you will stop if the wall flattens. Choose PATIKIL when you need a 13 mm helix, and you will add clamps, a strainer and a spigot that matches. Choose Meksular only after you have measured which bore arrived, not on the strength of two reviews. Until those extra parts are in your hand, the helix is not a pressure-washer kit. If the pump still will not pull, the next page is how to prime, not a longer tube.

Common questions

Will PATIKIL plug into a Kärcher inlet?
Not as sold. The box is a 13 mm clear helix hose with no washer coupling and no filter. You would need an adapter the listing does not include, and the seller does not claim Kärcher K2–K7. Dandas, on its own kit, tells you to check compatibility rather than assume a brand range. Do not treat PATIKIL as a substitute for a yellow quick connector.
Are clips in the PATIKIL box?
No. The packing list is one 3 m hose. The seller says you slide it on and tighten clamps, and those clamps are a separate purchase. Meksular’s bullets do claim two clips, which two reviewers say were in the bag. A clip still only grips a spigot. It is not a Kärcher inlet fitting.
Which diameter is the Meksular hose?
The listing does not settle it. The title says 32 × 38 mm and a bullet says 16 × 22 mm. Both say 3 m. Measure the hose before you buy clamps or a strainer. PATIKIL is the tube in this pair with one stated bore: 13 mm inside, 19 mm outside, 3 mm wall.
Do the yellow kits have a steel wire in the wall?
No. In this set their wall is described as PVC, fibre mesh and a rubber inner. TOPWAYS is that construction, and UK reviews say it collapses under suction. A steel spiral is what PATIKIL and Meksular state. VEATON is corrugated plastic for a pump, which is a third wall again.
What else do you need before a bare tube can feed a washer?
A strainer that stays under the water, clamps sized to the bore you actually received, and an adapter that matches that washer’s inlet. Without those, the helix cannot do the job a yellow kit is sold to do. A non-return valve is separate again if you need the hose to hold a prime when the pump stops.
