Best spiral garden hose

Updated: 23 October 2026

You want one spiral for a UK patio, not a pile of tiles that all say coil, expandable, or 10 m. The best spiral garden hose depends on which question you are asking. A magazine can score a bracketed kit. An amazon.co.uk star line scores a different carton. This page names who each pick is for, and who should skip it. The four listings we kept are in the [spiral garden hose](/hub/garden-watering/spiral-garden-hose) table. We did not run a lab test, and a 4.5 magazine score is not an Amazon star rating. Best for a small courtyard

BBC Gardeners’ World, in its May 2026 hose guide, calls the Claber Basic Spiral Hose Kit 10 m its best spiral garden hose: 4.5 out of 5, an RRP of £32.99, wall fixings, a tap fitting, a spray nozzle, about 1 kg, a 2-year warranty, and a bore of about 10 mm. Claber is not one of the four ASINs in our table, and a 4.5 on that page is not a test of Gardena or Amig. The English Garden names the Kärcher Spiral Hose Starter Set for courtyards and balconies. Kärcher’s UK page states 10 m, a G3/4 adapter, about 0.7 kg, and a note to observe EN 1717. The English Garden states a 15-year guarantee, which is not a star rating. Length, bore, and tap thread stay on the spiral garden hose buying guide.

The Gardena 10 m set

Inside this Amazon set, the Gardena Spiral Hose Set 10 m is the top pick. Reference 4647-20 is listed at £39.89, with 4.3 from 2,162 reviews. The title states 9 mm. Bullets say the hose coils back, and that full length needs a pull or it will not return. The description names a connector, a water stop, a sprayer, and threaded tap connectors. The included-components field says No. BBC Gardeners’ World’s separate Terrace Hose 10 m review scores that hose 4.0 out of 5. It suits pots and herbs and is a poor car or patio jet. In 21 UK reviews, owners praise a tight coil. The gun is a one-pattern complaint, or it failed after a few uses. Buy it for that review depth, and stop pulling before the loops disappear.

When a £16 coil is enough

The best value coil in this Amazon set is the Amig spiral at £15.86, with 4.2 from 1,206 reviews. The title states polypropylene, up to 7.5 m, a spray nozzle, a tap adapter, and two quick couplings. The bullets say the spiral shape is for storage. They do not say restoring force. An item-length field says 100 cm, which fights the 7.5 m title. One review says it does not stretch to the stated 7 m. Others report a leak at the connector or a tap the adapter would not fit. It is enough when the pots are close. It is a poor substitute for Claber’s wall fixings or Gardena’s stated restoring force. Lecxin (3.9 from 58) and Akiuhen (3.4 from 46) are a similar price with much smaller samples. Lecxin’s bullets say reinforced PU while the material field says Metal. Neither is the cheaper case we would hand you first.

Who should not buy one

Skip every spiral here if you need more than about 7 m of comfortable reach. Mincost’s seller rule of thumb is that a 10 m spiral is usable nearer 7 m. Pull a coil to the number on the box and it may not spring back. Akiuhen’s 15 m claim does not fix that. Skip a spiral for a sprinkler, a pressure washer, or a patio wash that needs a hard jet. A 22 bar or 10 bar line is not a measured jet at a UK tap. Skip a spiral if the flat has no outside tap. That limit is on the spiral hose for a balcony page. A regular hose on a reel remains the option Which? prefers for a longer run.

Common questions

Is the Gardena 10 m set the same as that Claber test?
No. Claber is a different brand and it is not one of the four ASINs. Gardena 4647-20 is the amazon.co.uk 10 m set at £39.89. Gardeners’ World’s Terrace Hose review is 4.0 out of 5. watering.co.uk lists 4647-20 at £46.95. Treat the magazine score, the other retailer’s price, and the Amazon stars as three different records.
Is Amig the better buy because it is about £16 and still above 4 stars?
It is the best value in this Amazon set if you want a stated 7.5 m coil at £15.86 and can live with 4.2 from 1,206 reviews. It is not automatically better than Gardena. Lecxin and Akiuhen are a similar price with weaker star lines and much smaller samples, so a low price alone does not pick them.
Does a five-year warranty cover the spray gun?
Gardena’s UK page for the 10 m set states a five-year warranty after registration. That is the maker’s statement. We will not claim the gun, the connectors, or frost damage are included. UK Amazon reviews still describe a gun that fell apart. A warranty is not a substitute for checking the tap thread on day one.
Why do Gardena owners argue about 10 m?
The listing states 10 m and also says full length needs a pull or the hose will not return. In 21 UK reviews, comfortable use is a hard stretch to 10 m, closer to 7 m, or about 5 m if the coil must still spring back. The tube can be dragged towards 10 m, and that drag can ruin the spring.
Is Kärcher’s 15-year line a test result?
No. The English Garden states a 15-year guarantee on the Kärcher Spiral Hose Starter Set. A guarantee is a commercial promise, not a lab score and not an Amazon review count. That set is not one of the four ASINs in our table.
