Gardena telescopic loppers

Updated: 22 October 2026

The title offers a Gardena lopper with a 900 cm extension. It is a unit error. Gardena telescopic loppers in this set are two bypass tools for green wood, both stated at 50 mm. TeleCut Pro S stops at 670 mm. TeleCut Pro L stops at 900 mm. The [Gardena loppers comparison](/hub/garden-tree-and-hedge-shears/gardena-loppers) includes the fixed models too. This page is only these two. Prices and weights are amazon.co.uk snapshots from 20 October 2026. Peter F. compared the listings with Gardena's TeleCut pages and the UK StarCut page. Read millimetres, not the centimetre title

TeleCut Pro S, listing 12040-88, has a size field of 520–670 mm. The bullet says up to 670 mm. The title says 670 cm. TeleCut Pro L, 12041-88, has a size field of 650–900 mm. The bullet says up to 900 mm. The dimensions say about 90 cm long. The title says 900 cm. Gardena's own pages print both units. The two tools differ by about 230 mm at full extension, not by nine metres. A 900 cm lopper would be 9 m. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the goods must match the description, so the centimetre title is a wording fault, not a length you plan a ladder around. Both heads are bypasses for fresh green wood. Dead wood still wants the SmartCut, which is not telescopic.

Same cut, different weight

Both listings state 50 mm. Neither names a gear. You are not buying a thicker cut, and you are not buying a ratchet. Pro S weighs 1.54 kg and is £51.37 here, with 4.7 from 90 reviews. Its bullet states an extended 25-year warranty. Pro L weighs 1.86 kg and is £66.55, with 4.7 from 151 reviews. The Pro L bullets do not state a warranty. A spare-part field of 25 years on both is not that sentence. Gardena still asks you to register within three months, and blades are wear parts. Do not copy the Pro S bullet onto the Pro L. A catalogue card for the Pro L prints a weight around 1,300 g. The amazon.co.uk item weight is 1.86 kg. Use the listing figure.

Buy the length you have measured

Buy the Pro S if 670 mm covers the shrub from the ground. Buy the Pro L if you have measured stems between 670 mm and 900 mm and you can hold 1.86 kg. If 670 mm already reaches, the Pro L is weight you do not need. The best Gardena loppers page leaves both behind the fixed EasyCut when the shrub is at chest height. Chest height does not need a telescopic handle at all.

A longer lopper is not a StarCut

If you need metres, you want a pole pruner. Gardena's UK StarCut Pro L is listed at 175–400 cm and 32 mm, not 50 mm. It is not in this price pair. People land on it because the TeleCut titles say 670 cm and 900 cm. The SlimCut is the other length that gets mixed in: a fixed 117 cm narrow bypass, gears of 1:12 and 1:6, and a stated 28 mm. It does not telescope. Stay on the ground. The Pro L's 900 mm does not replace a ladder. If the branch is above you, stop and read how to prune with loppers. If the wood is dead, the telescopic bypass is the wrong head. The Gardena loppers buying guide puts wood before reach.

Common questions

Does the Pro L extend to 900 cm?
No. The size field says 650–900 mm, the bullet says up to 900 mm, and the dimensions say about 90 cm. The title says 900 cm, and Gardena's own page prints both. Nine hundred centimetres would be 9 m. The Pro S title has the same clash at 670 cm against 670 mm. Plan on the millimetres. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 is why the conflicting title matters: the goods should match the description.
Is a TeleCut a pole pruner?
No. A TeleCut is a two-handed lopper whose handles slide to 670 mm or 900 mm. Gardena's pole pruner is the StarCut Pro L, listed at 175–400 cm and 32 mm. That is the tool when you need metres. It is not priced in this pair, and it cuts a smaller stated diameter. Searching 900 cm blurs the two. The size field does not.
How is SlimCut's 117 cm different?
The SlimCut is a fixed 117 cm bypass with a narrow head, gears of 1:12 and 1:6, and a stated width of 28 mm. It does not telescope. It is longer than the Pro L's 90 cm because the shaft is fixed. Use it for thinning inside a bush, not as a cheaper TeleCut. The length is not a reason to put it on a 50 mm stem.
Does Pro L's listing state 25 years?
The Pro L bullets here do not state a warranty. The Pro S bullet does: an extended 25 years. Both have a spare-part field of 25 years, which is a different line. Gardena's TeleCut material talks about 25 years after you register, within three months, with blades excluded. Those terms do not turn the Pro L spare-part field into a warranty sentence.
Can I cut overhead without a ladder if I buy the longer one?
Only for green wood you can reach with both feet on the ground, inside 900 mm and inside 50 mm. The Pro L does not turn an overhead limb, a ladder, or a possibly protected tree into a householder job. Above head height, a hard hat is part of ordinary hand-tool practice. A branch that could fall on you or on a roof is where you stop. Metres of height belong to a pole pruner and, often, to someone else.
