Best pond liner for the hole you are lining

Updated: 22 October 2026

You have a rectangle marked on the lawn and a tab of amazon.co.uk sheets where 4.8 from six reviews sits above a thicker listing. The best pond liner in this table is the sheet whose printed thickness matches the hole, not the highest stars. Our [pond membrane comparison](/hub/garden-ponds/pond-membrane) holds twelve flexible sheets: two PondKraft cuts at a stated 0.35 mm LDPE. Peter F. checked the listings, not a puncture test. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Band order is on the [pond liner buying guide](/hub/garden-ponds/pond-membrane/sub/pond-membrane-buying-guide).

For a dug pond in this table

For a modest dig inside this table, the thickest printed figure is 0.35 mm LDPE. The PondKraft 3 m by 2.5 m sheet, model L25Y030X025AMZ1, is £14.99. The bullets say tri-laminate LDPE and at least 200 g/m². No fleece is listed. Shared UK texts include a short sheet and a join that opened. The 4 m by 3 m PondKraft, model L25Y040X030AMZ, is £22.99 with the same bullets and no printed weight. That is about £1.92 a square metre for 12 square metres. Take the larger cut only if you need the area. Both share 4.7 from 405 reviews. A PondKraft snippet outside this table puts butyl next to LDPE, and that word does not transfer. Fleece and the trim are on how to fit a pond liner.

For a barrel, sink or planter

A Belfast sink does not need 12 square metres. The GARDENIX sheet, model G/PONDLINER_B_1x1, is 1 m by 1 m at 200 gsm and £6.72, with no polymer named. Grams per square metre are weight, not millimetres, and 0.2 cm on the dimension line is not 2 mm. UK texts cover a Belfast sink, a half barrel, and a butler sink that leaked. The WARM&LOVE sheet is £6.99 for 2 m by 3 m of HDPE at 0.1 mm. Many of 50 UK texts call it too thin for a pond, including one that emptied overnight. The mawmuaw pair is 2 m by 2 m with 10 nails of 16 cm, at £8.99 and £9.97. The same wording on both includes a day-one puncture, so the extra pound does not isolate 0.2 mm. Do not nail the wet area.

Rows to skip for a pond

YQBFTC, model CTCD-3*2-1, is 4.8 from six reviews at £10.39, with 0.2 mm printed and a matching 3 m by 2 m line. The star line is not a durability result. Wooview is £5.99 at 0.1 mm, with 1.0 from one review that says the pack said greenhouse film. The manufacturer field says kanghelong. QWORK is £8.99, with PVC and HDPE in the title and 0.25 mm HDPE in the bullets, and the one UK text says it tears very easily. MIKIICOCO at £9.98 prints no thickness. aotuo0608 at £9.59 says rubber on the title and HDPE in the bullets. Hikrxya is 3 m by 4 m at 0.2 mm and £18.99, with HDPE and PVC both printed. A koi keeper should skip the film rows, PondKraft included, because no fish certificate is printed. The name clash is on HDPE film or rubber.

What best cannot mean

Best, on this page, means the thickest thickness a bullet in this set prints, for a modest dig, if you add your own fleece. It does not mean butyl. A Butek listing, ASIN B0B1QJNFYD, is not in the table: about 3.375 m by 3.0 m of 0.75 mm butyl at £144, with 4.2 from 24 reviews. Russetts prefers EPDM for most gardeners. Those prices are not a thirteenth row. The shared 405 reviews cannot crown one PondKraft size. If you are keeping koi, or you want about 0.75 mm of rubber, stop at the edge of this set.

Common questions

Which sheet is the one to buy if I am digging a pond?
For a modest dug pond in this table, the PondKraft 3 m by 2.5 m sheet at £14.99 states 0.35 mm LDPE, the thickest figure printed here. Buy fleece separately. Take the £22.99, 4 m by 3 m cut only if you need about 12 square metres. The shared 4.7 from 405 is not a test of one size. For a metre-deep koi pond, or for 0.75 mm butyl, leave the table.
Who is the £6.99 WARM&LOVE sheet for?
It is for a planter or raised bed, once you accept 0.1 mm on a 2 m by 3 m HDPE title at £6.99. The listing is 3.8 from 500, and many of 50 UK texts call it too thin for a pond, including one that emptied overnight. A few planter buyers are content. There is no fish certificate. If the hole must hold overnight, skip it.
Why not pick the 4.8-star YQBFTC liner?
It is £10.39, with 0.2 mm and a matching 3 m by 2 m line, rated 4.8 from six reviews. Only four UK texts are on file, one buyer had not filled the pond, and none describes a puncture. That is too small a sample to treat 4.8 as lasting power, set against PondKraft’s stated 0.35 mm. The title says underlay, and fleece is not in the box.
Are the two PondKraft sizes the same product?
No. £14.99 is 3 m by 2.5 m, with a 1.25 kg package weight. £22.99 is 4 m by 3 m, with no weight printed. The bullets match, including 0.35 mm LDPE and a 25-year title line. The 4.7 from 405 is shared, including dates before June 2024, so you cannot tell which cut a reviewer held. Neither bullet says butyl.
Should I leave this table for butyl?
Leave when you want about 0.75 mm of rubber rather than 0.35 mm LDPE. A Butek listing outside this table, about 3.375 m by 3.0 m, showed £144 and 4.2 from 24 reviews on 19 October 2026. That price is context, not a row here. A butyl word on a different PondKraft snippet does not change the £14.99 or £22.99 bullets, which say LDPE.
