Garden cushion storage box

Updated: 23 October 2026

The cushions are still on the chairs in October, and a litre number is not a photograph of your set. A garden cushion storage box only works if the fattest pad passes the internal width and the foam is dry before the lid stays shut. On the [waterproof storage box comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/waterproof-storage-box) the two 190 litre Keter chests and the two 270 litre boxes are the whole set, from £44.45 to £74.01. This page stays on that one job. Peter F. used the listing bullets and the review notes on 21 October 2026, not a stack of your cushions. Litres are not cushions

A litre is a volume, and a cushion is a shape that does not pour. mylushgarden's rule of thumb, which is their guide rather than a measurement of these boxes, is about 200 to 250 litres for four seats and two backs. That band sits above 190 litres and inside 270 litres, and it still fails when the pad is deeper than the opening. In the shared 190 litre block, one buyer fitted five cushions with room left. On the Marvel+, several of the first 50 say the set did not fit. On Olsen & Smith, one buyer returned the box as smaller than the photo, estimating six to eight seat cushions, and paid £9 to send it back. If the set is the point, measure it.

What these four boxes actually measure

The Kentwood internal bullet is 44.6 x 81.6 x 56.6 cm at £44.45. The Signature is the same class of cavity at £47.62, about 45 cm on the short side. A 50 cm lounge seat will not pass it. Both item tables repeat 82.3 cm and drop the shorter side, so tape the bullet. The Marvel+ is 114.4 x 40 x 51.2 cm inside at £74.01, so 40 cm is the limit. Olsen & Smith prints 104.7 x 49 x 53.1 cm inside at £49.99, but the outside clashes: 109 x 51 x 55 cm against 43 x 78 x 56 cm. Which row to buy once the pads fit is the best garden storage box UK page.

Keeping the foam dry until spring

A box that fits still grows mould if damp foam stays in it from November to March. Harbour Lifestyle says winter storage is indoors or in a proper bag, not an airtight bin. Biohort's rainwater-proof LeisureTime box still says cushions should not stay in over winter. Keter says store dry items and consider silica gel. Gel does not finish a wet pad. If the pads are the expensive part, the house or a breathable bag is the winter store. Rain versus condensation is the garden storage box leaking page.

A tape and a drying day

If the fattest cushion is under about 40 cm and you have 117 cm of wall, the Marvel+ length is the resin option in this set, with the review risk that a photographed set still did not fit. If the pad needs closer to 45 or 49 cm, the 190 litre internal bullets or the Olsen & Smith internal bullet are the ones to test, and the Olsen & Smith external clash means you confirm the carton. If the foam will not be fully dry, do not shut any of them for the winter.

Common questions

Will the Marvel+ take them if it is 270 litres but only 40 cm wide inside?
Only if the cushions pass 40 cm. The internal bullet is 114.4 x 40 x 51.2 cm, so the length is there and the width is the limit. Several Marvel+ reviews say the cushion set did not fit, and one mentions about six back cushions before a larger unit is needed. A deep lounge seat thicker than the internal width will not go in, whatever the 270 litre title says.
Is 190 litres ever enough?
Yes, for a small number of cushions that pass about 45 cm on the short internal side. The Kentwood internal bullet is 44.6 x 81.6 x 56.6 cm, and the Signature is the same class of cavity. One shared review says five cushions fitted with room. That does not extend to every four-seat, two-back set.
Can cushions stay in the box from November to March?
Only if they go in fully dry and you accept the mould risk these care guides describe. Harbour Lifestyle says winter storage is indoors or in a proper bag, not an airtight bin and not under a cover all winter. Biohort says the same about cushions in a ventilated steel box. A resin chest with a shut lid is a poor winter wardrobe for foam that still holds last night's rain.
What if they went in a bit damp?
Take them out. Slightly damp foam is what Harbour Lifestyle says will grow mould, and a shut plastic lid holds that moisture in. Silica gel does not finish the drying. Bring the cushions indoors and dry the foam, not only the cover, before they go back. Leaving them for this week through a wet British month is how a fit box still ruins the pads.
What should I measure before I order?
Measure the fattest cushion, folded the way you would actually store it, and the run of wall. Compare the pad with 40 cm on the Marvel+, about 45 cm on the 190 litre bullets, and 49 cm on the Olsen & Smith internal bullet. Then compare the wall with about 82 cm or about 117 cm. Ignore an item table that repeats 82.3 cm or that swaps the Olsen & Smith shell for 43 x 78 x 56 cm until the seller confirms it.
