Garden cupboard for outdoor use

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are going to leave the cupboard in British rain, and the listing uses one calm adjective where you wanted the word waterproof. A garden cupboard for outdoor use, among these ten amazon.co.uk rows, is a question about the word that is actually printed, and about what reviewers then say regarding leaks and wind. Prices are the 19 October 2026 capture on the [garden cupboard comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/garden-cupboard). Peter F. checked those listings. None of these rows is a laboratory waterproof rating. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

The word on the listing

The ten listings fall into four groups, and the words are not interchangeable. Watertight appears in the bullets of two rows: the Keter Planet at £97.77 and the Keter Moby Low at £110.00. Both also name TÜV GS. That is the seller’s mark. It is not a UK laboratory result and it is not UKCA. The buying guide names this check once, on the garden cupboard buying guide.

What IP43 and TÜV GS do not prove

IP43 is two digits. On the usual reading of IEC 60529, the first digit 4 means protection against solid objects of 1.0 mm and greater. The second digit 3 means spraying water up to 60 degrees either side of vertical. It does not mean a hose left on the roof, and it does not mean the cupboard can sit in a puddle. Kis is the only row here that prints the code. The listing’s own gloss is water resistant against rain.

Rain and wind in the reviews

Planet’s sample splits. Some UK buyers say no rain got in and they use it for pet food or toys. Others say wind opened a door and snapped a hinge, or that clips left gaps. The back panel is called thin. Those are the same cupboard, at 3.5 from 416 reviews. Timber against resin is on resin or wood garden cupboard.

If the title says indoor

Stilo, Stilo High, Detroit Tall, Titan Low and Closet Low Plus are the rows with no weather word, and the titles on the Keter indoor cabinets say indoor. UK reviews still mention sheds and rain. That does not promote them. On the Stilo, one review says a night of rain filled it. On Stilo High, rain pools in the base.

Common questions

Which of these listings say watertight?
The Keter Planet, B09Z74P8V1, and the Keter Moby Low, B01CUFX1O4. Both put watertight in the bullets and both name TÜV GS as a seller mark. Planet is the green low cupboard at £97.77 with a wall-fix line. Moby is £110.00 and does not print that wall sentence in the bullets. Watertight here is the seller’s word. It is not a claim that either cupboard is waterproof through a British winter.
Which say water resistant, and which say nothing?
Water resistant is the field on the Nova and on the Outsunny fir cupboard. The Nova title also says all weather resistant. Kis says IP43 and glosses it as water resistant against rain, so it sits in its own group. No weather word is printed for the Stilo, Stilo High, Detroit Tall, Titan Low or Closet Low Plus. Do not fill that gap with the Planet’s adjective.
What does IP43 mean on the Kis listing?
The listing says an IP43 rating means water resistant protection against rain. The usual reading of the two digits is solids of 1.0 mm and greater, and spraying water up to 60 degrees either side of vertical. That is not immersion and not a hose test. Kis is the only cupboard in this set that prints the code. Doors that reviewers cannot close snugly are a separate limit the digits do not repair.
Is TÜV GS a UK test?
No. On Planet and Moby it is a German mark named by the seller. It is not UKCA, and it is not a rain test run for this comparison. These listings also do not cite BS EN 14749. A wall-fix recommendation is the seller’s instruction. It is not evidence that a British storage standard was passed on that ASIN.
Do shutter doors keep rain out?
The Outsunny’s shutter doors are described as ventilation when they are closed, on a cupboard whose weather field says water resistant. The sloped roof is what reviewers credit with shedding rain. Shutters are the wrong choice if you need a sealed door for cushions. They can suit hand tools that are better with some airflow, provided you accept the varnish and the reviews that say waterproofing is not perfect without changes.
What do the reviews say about wind?
Planet and Stilo High reviews describe a door or a hinge taken by wind. Closet reviews include a door that came off in a gust the next day, and doors that will not stay shut in rain. Stilo buyers say an unfixed cupboard can blow over. A padlock loop does not replace a wall fix where the listing asks for one, and it does not turn a resin locker into a security shed.
Can you leave tools in a cupboard whose title says indoor?
The title is the seller’s setting. Stilo, Stilo High, Detroit, Titan Low and the indoor wording on related rows do not give you a weather word to rely on. Some UK buyers still put them in a shed or in the rain, and the complaints are filled bases, wet shelves and wind damage. A single buyer who saw no trouble, including one Titan Low left in the garden, does not overturn the missing line. Keep those cupboards under cover unless you are willing to own the leak reviews.
