Double garden swing buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You searched for a double garden swing and the first pictures are often a two-person canopy chair with a roof. The eight amazon.co.uk listings in our [double swing comparison](/hub/garden-furniture/double-swing) are mostly children's frames, a shared nest, a small belted chair, or one hanging porch seat. This guide names the object, then the footprint, then the lower load line when the page disagrees with itself, then the box. Peter F. read the UK listings on 21 October 2026. Four products share the name

A 2 seater garden swing on a furniture site is often an adult chair about 160–170 cm wide, with a canopy and a stated load around 200 kg. That chair is almost absent from this folder. A kids double swing set has metal legs, pegs, and either two seats or one nest. Outsunny is a short rocking bench, about 110 × 110 × 70 cm, with a canopy and two belts, at £46.99, and the bullets say ages 3–6. The Furinno Tioman hangs and does not stand on the grass. Width is the standing size, not the boxed length. HLC is about 3.12 m wide and 1.85 m deep. The Zero Gravity nests sit around 180–190 cm wide. Plum's boat is 155 × 165 × 184 cm and asks for a 2 m safety perimeter, so the clear space is larger than the steel.

Read the lower kilogram line

The swing weight capacity you can defend is the figure the title and the specification field both print. When they clash, plan around the lower line. Do not invent a conversion. GYMAX says 300 kg in the title and 150 kg in the weight field, at £98.95. We do not treat 300 kg as the capacity. HLC prints 440 lb in the title and 120 pounds in the field, at £79.99. Quote the field and say the title disagrees. Furinno says 156 kg in a bullet and 220 pounds in the field. Do not turn 220 pounds into a fresh kilogram rating. Zero Gravity's nests say 45 kg each and 90 kg combined. Plum says 100 kg on the title, the bullets, and the field. TP says 50 kg per seat, which matches its field, though the bullets also say up to 4 users while the seat field says 2. Outsunny says 60 kg. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, satisfactory quality takes account of public statements such as the title.

What has to be in the box

Every set here needs assembly. Ground stakes included is not the same sentence as both seats in the carton. GYMAX buyers dispute whether the saucer and the belt arrive with the frame. The saucer rope is listed at 90–160 cm, which only helps if the saucer is there. TP lists one metal frame, two seats, one glider ride, and stakes. HLC describes two single swings and a two-person glider. Both Zero Gravity nests list ground stakes and tools. UK reviews say Plum's pegs are for concrete rather than grass. Outsunny lists two seatbelts and a canopy, not a lawn frame. Furinno includes chains and one porch swing, with no cushion in the components line, at £145.83.

A children's frame is a toy, a porch seat is furniture

A product for play by children under 14 is a toy under the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. Activity toys should warn that they are only for domestic use, and the instructions should tell you to check anchorages. BS EN 71-8 is the domestic activity-toy standard. BS EN 1176 is for public play areas. Only the Outsunny bullets name EN 71-1, EN 71-2, EN 71-3, and EN 71-8. Age fields that say 0–3 years, on Plum and on Outsunny, contradict a 3+ title or a 3–6 bullet. Trust the bullet, and Plum's line that it is not for under 36 months. The porch seat is furniture, so the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 are the baseline, with the quality rights in the Consumer Rights Act 2015. None of that tells you whether a joist can take a moving seat. Pegs are on how to anchor a swing set. A standing frame and a hanging seat are on porch swing vs kids swing set. One nest or two belts is on swing for two children.

Common questions

Is a double swing a canopy chair or a children's frame?
On many UK retail pages a double swing is a freestanding canopy chair for two adults. In this amazon.co.uk sample it is usually a children's frame, a nest, a toddler chair, or the Furinno hanging seat. A canopy chair with a roof is not one of these eight ASINs.
Which number is the load when the title and the field disagree?
Use the lower figure and keep both lines visible. GYMAX says 300 kg in the title and 150 kg in the field. HLC says 440 lb in the title and 120 pounds in the field. Furinno says 156 kg in a bullet and 220 pounds in the field. Do not convert one into the other. Zero Gravity and Plum repeat their combined limits.
How wide is the set once it swings, not in the box?
Start with the listed frame, then add the arc and any perimeter the brand states. HLC is about 3.12 m wide before anyone swings. Plum is about 155 × 165 cm and asks for a 2 m safety perimeter. Outsunny is about 110 cm square and rocks in place. The carton length will not tell you if the lawn is long enough.
Do the seats come with the frame?
Not always, if you trust the reviews rather than the hero photo. GYMAX buyers dispute whether the saucer and the belt arrive with the frame. TP and HLC describe two seats and a glider in the listing text, and you still match that text to the parts in the box. A nest listing should say the nest is included, not only the steel.
What age line should I trust when the field says 0–3?
Ignore a 0–3 or 0-months field when the bullets contradict it. Plum's title says 3+ and the description says not under 36 months, while the age field says 0–3 years. Outsunny's bullets say 3–6. The Furinno age field of 0 months does not make a porch seat a baby product.
Does a children's swing have to say it is only for domestic use?
Activity toys covered by the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 are expected to warn that they are only for domestic use, and to tell you to check anchorages. That warning is the legal picture for a children's frame, not a certificate that this particular ASIN passed a lab. Only Outsunny's bullets name the EN 71 parts. A school, nursery, or pub is outside this domestic set.
When is the Furinno the wrong purchase because I only have a lawn?
When you have nowhere sound to hang it. The Tioman is a meranti seat with chains, at £145.83, and the listing has no freestanding frame and no ground anchors. A lawn needs one of the metal sets, with pegs that match soil or concrete.
