Stone effect garden fountain buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You are choosing a stone effect garden fountain for a patio or a courtyard wall, and the word stone on amazon.co.uk is doing too much work. In this set it means a moulded finish, not a block from a quarry. This page is the order of trade-offs before you sort by stars: what the body is made of, where it stands, and whether you have a socket. The seven listings, from about £99.99 to about £329.99, sit on the [stone fountain comparison](/hub/garden-decor/stone-fountain). Peter F. read the listings and the UK review texts on 22 October 2026. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What stone means on these listings

A stone effect garden fountain here is a self-contained water feature whose surface is meant to read as stone. Gardenwize and the Teamson lion say stone-effect. The solar tier is polyresin and stone powder. The stacked bowls are polyresin with stone details. Both Bumilgar pieces use polyresin with gray stone details. Zedazoom’s bullets say resin, and Stone Gray is the colour name. None of the seven is UK-quarried limestone. Weights run from 4.75 kg to about 18 kg. The stacked Teamson bullet says 19.84 kg and the details block says 4.13 kg. A Lucas Stone upright lion, about 110 kg and £435 with the pump not included, is a different object.

Wall, tier or column

Format decides the footprint before the brand does. The wall pieces are the Gardenwize solar lion at about £119.99, with no printed height and no bracket in a UK text, and the Teamson plug-in lion at about £99.99 and 81.3 cm. One UK text says that lion needs flat ground or the water runs to one side. A freestanding tier needs a level slab: about 72 cm for the solar Teamson, 84.5 cm in the title of the stacked bowls, and 130 cm for the Bumilgar cascade. One UK buyer returned that cascade unused because it was too tall. Named jobs are on the best stone effect garden fountain page.

Socket or sun, in brief

Two listings are solar: the Gardenwize lion and the Teamson 4-tier at about £102.99. Neither states battery hours. UK texts disagree on the Gardenwize night run, and they report early pump and panel failures on the Teamson tier. Both Bumilgar models state a 3 m transformer cord. The Teamson lion and the stacked bowls do not state a lead length. Zedazoom does not state a power source. Plugging in a supplied transformer is not notifiable work under Approved Document P. A new outdoor socket is an electrician’s job. The hours are on the solar or mains garden fountain page.

Weight, frost and children

Hollow resin cracks when water freezes inside it. Haddonstone says even frost-resistant cast stone must be drained, because ice damages the pump. Weather resistant is not a frost test, and none of these seven states a drain plug. The pump steps are on the winterise a garden fountain page. RoSPA’s figure that ponds are involved in 26% of child drownings at home is a pond statistic. Do not paste it onto these bowls. A lion basin is still water an adult has to supervise. On Zedazoom, the centimetre details do not match the inch bullet on width. Measure on arrival.

Common questions

Is a stone-effect fountain real stone?
No, not in this amazon.co.uk set. Stone-effect, stone powder, stone details and the colour name Stone Gray describe a resin, polyresin or fibreglass body. Quarried or cast limestone from a UK workshop is a different product, often much heavier, and often with the pump sold separately. If the listing does not say limestone or cast stone, treat the photograph as a finish.
How heavy is a patio piece compared with cast stone?
The kept listings run from 4.75 kg on the Gardenwize lion to about 18 kg on the 130 cm Bumilgar, with one conflicting weight pair on the stacked Teamson. A UK workshop lion in cast stone can be about 110 kg at around £435. You can usually lift the resin rows into a shed. You plan help, or a sack truck, for the cast statue.
Will a 130 cm cascade fit a small patio?
Only if you have measured the height against seating and the fence, not against the photograph. The Bumilgar cascade is 130 cm on a 44 by 33 cm footprint at about £329.99. One UK buyer returned it unused because it was too tall. A 72 cm solar tier, or the 84.5 cm title height on the stacked bowls, takes less of the view. On a narrow side return, start with the wall lions.
Do I need a socket, or will solar do?
You need a socket for every corded row. Solar, in this set, is only the Gardenwize lion and the Teamson 4-tier, and only where the panel sees sun. Neither states battery hours. UK texts already disagree on the Gardenwize night run, and they report early failures on the Teamson solar tier. If you sit out after dusk and want water then, a mains model on a socket you already have is the more predictable fork.
Why do two size lines on one listing disagree?
Some pages print a bullet in one unit and a details block that reuses the other numbers under a centimetre label. On the stacked Teamson, 84.5 cm and 19.84 kg in the bullet sit beside 33.3 cm and 4.13 kg in the details. The smaller pair matches the bullet only if read as inches. Zedazoom’s width does not match between the centimetre details and the inch bullet. Do not average them. Measure on arrival.
