Best dimpled membrane: only two listings rank here

Updated: 21 October 2026

You are comparing four amazon.co.uk listings and you want the best dimpled membrane in that set, not a league table of Newton, Delta and Platon. Only two pages print both an area and a star line. The other two are generic holed panels with clashing widths and no ratings. The full table is the [dimpled membrane comparison](/hub/flooring/dimpled-membrane). This page did not lab-test any roll. Best here means best evidenced inside those four pages. A purchase through our links can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What can be ranked

A fair rank needs coverage in square metres and an amazon.co.uk star line. MEMBUG220, ASIN B08LCB8BWB, states 40 m² at £69.50, about £1.74 per square metre, and 4.4 from 9 ratings. MEMBUG120, ASIN B08LCDJL2W, states 20 m² at £50.00, about £2.50 per square metre, and 4.0 from 19 ratings. The panels at £106.99 and £146.98 do not settle a width and have no star line. The two foundation rolls are the only pair you can place. The 2 m roll leads on stars and on pounds per square metre. It is still 400 g/m² with nine ratings, not a habitable-cellar specification.

The two foundation rolls

Both Einside pages state 8 mm dimples, about 1,860 per square metre, 400 g/m², about 5 litres per square metre of air and a drainage figure of about 4.6 litres per square metre. Neither names a certificate, a mesh or a geotextile, and neither box lists plugs. The wider roll is 17.5 kg. The narrower roll is 8.75 kg. They share an image. The top pick and the best value both sit on the 2 m roll. Two reviews, marked as written in France, say it was easy to cut and stayed put after backfill. One says the roll arrived with many cuts and holes. Four reviews on the 1 m roll, marked as written in Italy, include a damaged parcel used as a double layer and a sheet judged thin over a water tank. Those texts are not UK basement reports. Use the 2 m roll when you can check 40 m² for transit damage. Use the 1 m roll when 8.75 kg is what you can handle. Skip both if you need a mesh, a certificate, or 700 g/m². Studs and certificates are the buying guide.

The two drainage panels

The panels fail the listing before they fail a rank. B0HJZ467WN at £106.99 states 0.5 m by 25 m and also 30 cm by 25 m in the title, and 0.5 m by 25 m at 700 g/m² in a bullet. B0HKMMJQDD at £146.98 adds 70 cm by 25 m beside the same bullet. Both technical blocks say 1 kg in an 8 cm cube. Dimple height is not printed, there are no reviews, and both ASINs share an image. Bullets claim a load cut of over 20% and water savings of up to 30%, with no test on the listing. Until one width is confirmed, you cannot know if either panel beats £1.74 per square metre.

When none of these is the buy

Leave all four when the job is a habitable basement, a warranty that names a certificated system, or water that is already running. French or Italian foundation notes do not make a Type C system. PCA treats the cavity as controlled seepage, not a hydrostatic barrier, and expects it to be serviced. None of these products includes a pump, a channel or a sump. Newton CDM 508 is sold at 500 g/m² or 700 g/m² under BBA 22/6357. Delta MS 500 Fire is described as Euroclass B-s2, d0. The Einside pages only print F-DM 15/03/05, and the generic panels print no fire class. If you need that paperwork, buy the certificated system. If you are lining a room you will sleep in, read the basement page first.

Common questions

Which listing has the highest star rating?
B08LCB8BWB is 4.4 from 9 ratings. B08LCDJL2W is 4.0 from 19. The two generic panels have no star line. Nine ratings is a small sample, and the two written reviews are marked as reviewed in France, so the higher score is not a UK cellar test.
Which is cheapest per square metre?
The 2 m Einside roll, at about £1.74, from £69.50 and 40 m². The 1 m roll is about £2.50, from £50.00 and 20 m². The generic panels do not have a settled area, so they are left out of that comparison. The shelf price of £50.00 is lower, and the price for each square metre is not.
Why do both badges sit on one roll?
In this set the top pick follows the higher star line, and the best value follows the lower price per square metre. Both point at the 2 m Einside roll. The 1 m roll has more ratings and a lower score, and it costs more per square metre for the same stated 8 mm and 400 g/m² spec.
Should you trust nine French reviews for a UK cellar?
No. Those two reviews are marked as written in France, and they describe foundations and backfill, including a roll that arrived cut and holed. They are not a report on a British basement, a pump or a plaster finish. Use them as a handling and damage note, not as proof the sheet suits a lived-in room.
Do the rolls include plugs?
No. Each Einside listing is one roll. Plugs, tape and a drain are not listed. The generic panels do not list plugs either. If you are fixing to masonry, those parts are a second order, and the basket is larger than the roll.
When do you leave these listings for a certificated system?
When the room must be habitable, when a warranty names a BBA system, or when water has to be collected and pumped. Newton CDM 508, at 500 g/m² or 700 g/m² under certificate 22/6357, is an example of that trade sheet. It is not one of these four ASINs, and these pages do not cite a certificate of their own.
