Self adhesive skirting board: which width and length

Updated: 21 October 2026

The amazon.co.uk photo does not tell you whether 20 mm, 50 mm or 10 cm will cover the gap. A self adhesive skirting board is a flexible PVC, vinyl or TPE strip. This page measures profile, face and metres on the eleven listings captured on 19 October 2026. Peter F. did not stick a test roll to a wall. Three profiles, not one product

The rolls split into three jobs. An L-tape folds up the wall and onto the floor: VCANIVR 20 × 20 mm by 6 m at £8.99, two 50 × 20 mm VCANIVR rolls at £13.99 and £14.99, Hexizexi 8 m at £14.59, and KMDZDZGS’s 70 mm fold at £10.13. A flat cover is about 10 cm wide, from JAHOMFAI’s 3 m at £14.99 to 6 m covers at £17.99 and £18.99. A quarter-round is JSIWOTH’s white TPE, 15 mm radius, 2.5 m, at £9.99.

Width that actually covers the gap

Measure the bare joint, and any board you still have to hide, in millimetres. The 20 × 20 mm VCANIVR closes a small fillet and cannot mask a full-height board. KMDZDZGS states 70 mm as a 50 mm edge plus a 20 mm fold. An 8 mm crack needs the 20 mm tape or the 15 mm quarter-round. A scuffed board near 70 mm is the KMDZDZGS fold, or a 10 cm cover if you want the old face hidden. Hexizexi’s part number says 50 × 20 mm-8m and the size field says 8 m by 7 cm.

Length for one wall or one room

JAHOMFAI is 3 m. JSIWOTH is 2.5 m. Hexizexi is 8 m. TFLPUO’s title says 5 m. Stair Nosings’ table for their 100 mm trim says 3 m is one wall and 6 m is two or three walls. A 3.2 m run with one internal corner needs more than a 3 m roll. Buy the second roll before you peel the first.

What to check on the listing

TFLPUO’s title says 40 mm by 4 mm and the only captured review says about 1 cm. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, quality is judged against the description. KMDZDZGS lists white, black and grey while this title is Black/6M. The second VCANIVR 50 × 20 mm roll prints the colour Gary. The two wide VCANIVR ASINs share one 3.9 from 241 pool, so do not add them. SDLDEER’s 4.2 from 31 is the fullest file on a 10 cm cover.

Common questions

Is 20 mm enough, or do I need 50 mm or 100 mm?
20 mm is enough when the joint itself is a small crack and you are not hiding a board. A face around 50 mm, which is the VCANIVR wide pair and the stated half of the KMDZDZGS fold, covers a taller mark. A 10 cm cover is the one that hides a low existing board. Measure the gap and the board in millimetres before you open the listing. Quest’s sizes are their product list, not a rule that every home needs the largest.
Will a 6 m roll finish a small room?
Often it finishes two or three short walls, which is how Stair Nosings describe their own 6 m length, and it will not finish a 15 m perimeter. Their 15 m living-room sketch is an example, not your floor plan. A 3 m roll such as JAHOMFAI is frequently one wall, and a 2.5 m quarter-round is shorter still. Buy a second roll if the tape measure is already near 6 m.
What is the difference between an L-tape and a flat 10 cm cover?
An L-tape bends into the corner, with a short leg on the floor and a short leg on the wall. The 20 × 20 mm and 50 × 20 mm rolls, and the 70 mm KMDZDZGS fold, are that shape. A flat 10 cm cover is a wide sheet that sticks over the joint or over a tired board. In this set it costs more, from £14.99 for 3 m to £18.99 for 6 m.
Can a 15 mm quarter-round hide an old board?
No. JSIWOTH is a hollow bead with a 15 mm radius and 2.5 m of length. It can follow a small gap on tile, sealed wood or a stable painted wall, and UK notes mention a conservatory edge and a bath. It will not mask a 70 mm or 100 mm board. If that is the job, you are in the 10 cm covers, or you are looking at MDF instead of tape.
Why do two lines on one listing disagree about width?
Sellers paste a size field, a part number and a title from different templates. Hexizexi is 50 × 20 mm in the bullet and the part number, and 8 m by 7 cm in the size field. TFLPUO’s title says 40 mm and a review measured about 1 cm. Treat the smaller, repeated figure as the one to plan with, and check the parcel before you stick a contradictory line.
Should I buy the cheapest 5 m wave strip?
Not if you measured 40 mm. TFLPUO is £6.19 and 3.3 from 4 reviews, and the only written review called it unusable at about 1 cm wide. A low price does not repair a width that misses the joint. The narrow seal with a much larger review file here is the white 20 × 20 mm VCANIVR at £8.99, and even that roll only suits a small gap.
