Best decoupling membrane UK: one value pick and the skips

Updated: 21 October 2026

There is no single top pick in this comparison, and nothing here is a UK-wide winner. The best value is the Nassboards orange roll at £49.99 only if you accept a missing thickness and you confirm that the 5 m² title is the variant in the basket. Everyone else is a conditional skip. The full table is the [Decoupling mat comparison](/hub/flooring-tools-and-accessories/decoupling-mat). Products Compared scored the six amazon.co.uk listings on 19 October 2026. Best value if the title’s 5 m² is the roll in the basket

Nassboards orange, URL ASIN B093X9BHNP, is £49.99 with a stated 5 m², about £10 per square metre if the title matches the parcel. It scores 61, level with the 5 m² FloorNation roll, and it carries the best-value mark. It does not carry a top-pick mark, because the listing never states a thickness. One line reads B093XS6RG2 while the URL is B093X9BHNP. Skip it if you need a datasheet, a stated thickness, or a sealed wet-room system. The checks in front of this pick are on the decoupling membrane buying guide. One review said the picture showed a white fleece downward and the delivered roll was the other way. Laying, once you have chosen, is the how to lay an uncoupling membrane page.

The 3 mm FloorNation roll that still needs an area check

FloorNation B0GZR4N5Q2 states 3 mm and 5 m² at £57.95, and it scores 61. The same page says 100 x 20 cm, which is 0.2 m². Until the live page stands by one figure, £57.95 is not yet about £11.59 per square metre. B0GZQFLZBH at £92.45 scores 53. B0GZQVCFR3 at £127.95 scores 50. Both state 3 mm and 100 x 20 cm, and neither states square metres. All three show 5.0 from 4, and the four United Kingdom texts match. A material field that says SPC vinyl should not be rewritten as polyethylene. Wood on the bullets still does not replace the stiffness check on the tiling plywood with an uncoupling membrane page.

The liner and the mesh are different buys

Tonchean B0FWC5V2JX at £84.99 scores 58. It is a 0.5 mm HDPE liner, 30 m by 1 m, about £2.83 per square metre, and that rate is real only as a liner. It uses uncoupling once, shows no studs or fleece, and is 5.0 from one review with no text. It names bathrooms and includes no seam kit. Nassboards Pro Mesh, B095JDBTZ8, is £189.99 and scores 37. The page lists 30 m², 10 m², and 5 m² and does not say which roll that price is. Schlüter-DITRA is not an ASIN here. On 19 October 2026 Target Tiles listed it at £11.11 per square metre and London Tile at £15.60 including VAT.

What this page will not call best

Best value here means the lowest usable shelf price for a stated 5 m², with the thickness still missing. A mat deals with moderate sideways movement after the floor is already rigid. It does not stop a bouncy joist. This page will not call any roll the best decoupling membrane in the UK, and it will not invent a thickness for the orange roll.

Common questions

Which roll is the best value in this set?
Nassboards orange at £49.99, about £10 per square metre if the stated 5 m² is the variant you receive. The comparison marks it as best value and scores it 61. The limit is the missing thickness, and an identifier that appears as B093XS6RG2 in one line and B093X9BHNP in the URL. Confirm both on the live page. If you need a printed 3 mm, this is not the pick.
Why is there no single top pick?
The two rolls that score 61 fail different checks. The orange roll has the area in the title and no thickness. The £57.95 FloorNation roll states 3 mm and also states 100 x 20 cm against 5 m². A single winner would need thickness and area to agree. None of the six does that cleanly, so the comparison withholds a top pick.
Is 5.0 from four reviews better than 4.6 from 145?
No. Three FloorNation ASINs each show 5.0 from 4, and the four United Kingdom texts match, so that is one shared set. Nassboards orange is 4.6 from 145. The larger sample is the stronger record of what buyers received. It still cannot supply a thickness the listing left out.
Should I buy the £189.99 Pro Mesh?
Not until you know whether that price is the 30 m², the 10 m², or the 5 m² roll. It scores 37, and the sample is two texts, one of them a fleece complaint. A quiet timber bathroom in one review is not evidence the mesh stiffens joists. Compared with the £49.99 orange roll, you are paying more for a less specific page.
Is the tonchean liner the cheap option per square metre?
As a 0.5 mm liner, yes: £84.99 for 30 m by 1 m is about £2.83 per square metre, and it scores 58. As a 3 mm cavity mat, no. The rating is 5.0 from one review with no text. Buy it for a thin liner the adhesive maker allows. Leave it when the job was a studded mat.
When is a trade Ditra roll the better buy?
When you want Schlüter’s fleece, recesses, and data sheet from a tile shop rather than these ASINs. On 19 October 2026 that was £11.11 per square metre at Target Tiles or £15.60 at London Tile. Keep those figures apart. It is the worse buy if a confirmed orange roll already covers a small dry room.
