White silicone sealant for windows and frames

Updated: 23 October 2026

You have a white uPVC or timber frame to seal, and a bathroom cartridge in the basket because it is white and in stock. White silicone sealant for windows has to match the joint's movement and the cure chemistry. A fungicide line does not decide a frame. A bright sanitary bead can be the wrong class outdoors, and it will not take paint if the timber will be decorated. The [Silicone white comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/silicone-white) holds the twelve listings. Prices are the 21 October 2026 snapshot. A frame joint is not a bath joint

A bath rim moves when you fill it. A window frame moves with temperature and the wall over a year, and the bead takes rain and sun. Facade and glazing classes exist separately from the sanitary class. A fungicide is a side note on a frame. The deciding lines are movement, neutral or acetoxy cure, and whether you will paint. Only one listing here prints a movement percent. Sika sanitary includes window as a surface and prints no class. Sika general purpose leaves outdoor use unanswered. If the bead is the black line on a bath, use the bathroom page.

How to read the class

EN 15651-1 is the facade part. F-EXT-INT-CC means exterior and interior, including a cold climate. EN 15651-2 is glazing. 12.5E is a lower-movement elastic class. 20LM and 25LM are low-modulus classes with more movement, which is what a uPVC frame silicone usually means. You need the percent on the cartridge. 12.5 percent is not 25 percent. A joint that works harder than the class can split or pull off the uPVC. The Bostik sheet for this LMN chemistry quotes F-EXT-INT-CC 12.5E and a sanitary XS1. The amazon listing does not print XS1. Do not upgrade the cartridge to a 25LM because a different Dow silicone, sold elsewhere, is a low-modulus neutral.

What this set actually states

Siroflex LMN is about £6.99 for 300 ml, 4.3 from 18 reviews. It states 12.5 percent movement and EN 15651, and frost resistance down to -15°C. That frost line is the transport note on the Bostik sheet, not the cured range of about -40°C to +120°C. One review reports a uPVC frame. Two call the bead runny. The Soudal packs print no movement class. Sika sanitary's manufacturer page lists PVCu cap sealing, which is not a movement figure on the amazon row. Dow 796, a neutral low-modulus uPVC silicone, was about £11.29 at Screwfix and is not one of these ASINs.

Acetoxy on uPVC is disputed

On plastic frames the advice does not agree with itself. GBP Plastics calls acetoxy adhesion to uPVC inconsistent, and says acetoxy is not for lead or copper. TIMCO's acetoxy sheet allows door and window frames and also says it is not recommended on some PVCu. Both sentences are on that sheet. Everbuild 500 lists PVCu cap sealing. Sika sanitary is that family, without a class digit on amazon. Follow the sheet for the cartridge in your hand. Lead and copper are the clearer no. Ventilate while an acetoxy bead smells. The cured frame still has to live inside the movement class you bought.

Colour and paint

Brilliant white is a colour, not a paintable bead. Soudal's FAQ says paint does not stick to silicone. If the timber will be decorated, use decorator's caulk. A white uPVC frame that will stay white can keep a silicone bead. Several Siroflex reviews describe anthracite or rosewood, other colours in that range. The title of this ASIN is white, so check the cartridge on the doorstep. Enócilis has a colour field of yellow and white. Do not borrow that box for a frame. Twelve and a half percent is what this set can show you. Twenty-five percent low modulus is a different shelf.

Common questions

Can you use bathroom white silicone on uPVC windows?
Sometimes, and not as a rule. Sika sanitary's manufacturer page lists PVCu cap sealing, and the amazon listing prints no movement class. Acetoxy adhesion to uPVC is disputed. If the frame needs 25 percent, a bath cartridge is the wrong class.
What does 12.5 percent movement mean next to 25 percent?
It is the share of the joint width the sealant is classed to flex. 12.5E is the lower elastic band. 25LM is a low-modulus band with more movement. Siroflex is the only listing here that states a percent, and that percent is 12.5. The higher class is not in this twelve.
Acetoxy or neutral on plastic frames?
Neutral is what frame specialists such as Dow 796 are sold as, and that product is outside this set. Acetoxy is disputed on PVCu: one note calls the grip inconsistent, one sheet allows frames and excludes some PVCu, and Everbuild 500 includes PVCu caps. Follow the sheet in your hand.
Will the white bead take paint on a timber frame?
No. Paint does not stick to silicone. Soudal says so directly. A brilliant white bead can stay a white line on uPVC that will not be painted. On timber you intend to decorate, use decorator's caulk and accept that caulk is the wrong product for a bath. Painting the silicone to blend it in leaves the paint peeling along the bead.
Is the Siroflex frost line of -15°C the service temperature?
No. The listing says frost-resistant down to -15°C. On the Bostik LMN sheet that figure belongs with transport and storage, while the cured service range is about -40°C to +120°C. A British winter below -15°C does not, by itself, condemn a bead that was gunned in mild weather. Do not read the frost bullet as the temperature the joint can work at once it has cured.
Which listings in this set actually name windows?
Siroflex puts windows in the title and states 12.5 percent movement. Sika sanitary includes window as a surface and states no class. The Soudal packs are asked about windows and do not answer. Naming the word is not a facade class. Only Siroflex prints a percent.
