Pattex silicone buying guide

Updated: 23 October 2026

A Pattex silicone buying guide starts by splitting the logo. A failed bath bead, a coloured window frame and a skirting gap waiting for paint are not one product. Sanitary paste, a coating for a bead that is still stuck, SL 620 for a frame, and AC411 for a wood gap are not interchangeable. Prices and stars are the amazon.co.uk snapshot of 19 October 2026. Those listings sit in our [Pattex silicone comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/pattex-silicone). We did not run a cure test. Four Pattex jobs, not one silicone

Pattex on amazon.co.uk is a Henkel name stretched across four jobs. A new bead on a basin, bath or glazed shower wants sanitary silicone: the 300 ml white anti-mould cartridge at about £14.07, or the 50 ml transparent tube at about £9.55 when the run is short and you have no gun. A yellow bead that is still stuck is a coating: Pattex Re-New at about £14.28, or Sista Neue Fuge at about £16.87. A window perimeter is SL 620, maroon RAL 8007 at about £10.35 or copper RAL 8004 at about £11.73, not bath paste. A skirting gap you will paint is AC411 at about £9.48, and the November 2018 sheet calls it acrylic. If the bath bead is loose, a coating will not fill the gap. You cut it out and lay a sanitary bead.

Cure and surface

Acetoxy sanitary silicone smells of vinegar while it cures. The November 2025 sanitary sheet puts that paste on baths and tiles, with skin in about 15 minutes and about 2 mm of cure a day. The pressure-pack sheet is not one of these seven listings, but its limits still apply: not plastic baths or plastic shower trays, not natural stone, not paint, not permanent immersion, not food contact and not aquariums. The 9 April 2020 alkoxy sheet states 25% movement. That class has not been matched to the 50 ml model 2721071, even though the listing says neutral. SL 620 stays a 12.5% facade and glazing sealant and does not declare EN 15651-3.

What the listings actually say

The 300 ml white cartridge is titled neutral anti-mould for sinks, baths and shower cubicles, 4.4 from 1,157 ratings. Its technical table does not state a water-resistance level, and some description text was read as transparent. The 50 ml tube is waterproof on the listing and needs no gun. Re-New needs a gun and the listing says water resistant. The maroon SL 620 bullet says RAL 8007 and 300 ml, the colour field says red, the weight is 145 g, and the one written note calls it brown, at 4.2 from eight ratings. The copper listing agrees on RAL 8004, while the unit count says 1 ml and the model line says 300 ml. AC411's title says acrylic silicone and it has 5.0 from four ratings. That does not make any pack the best sealant in the UK.

Which pack to leave on the shelf

Leave AC411 off a bath, a shower or a window. It is paintable after about 4 to 6 hours, with movement up to 10%. Leave both SL 620 cartridges off a sanitary joint, and skip RAL 8007 until red, maroon and the photo agree. Use the copper listing only after you have checked you are not paying about £11.73 for the 1 ml the unit count prints. Leave Re-New and Neue Fuge if the old bead has lifted or is leaking. Leave the 50 ml tube if you are resealing a whole bathroom. About £9.55 is a high price per millilitre next to 300 ml at about £14.07. On 20 October 2026 Screwfix showed No Nonsense 820, 310 ml, at £5.89, and UniBond anti-mould, 280 ml, at £10.99. Confirm the nozzle is in the pack. A 3x line is not three cartridges.

Common questions

Is every Pattex silicone the same chemistry?
No. The logo covers acetoxy sanitary paste, a neutral building silicone, a coating for an old bead, SL 620 window sealant, and AC411 acrylic whose title still says silicone. The 25% movement class on the April 2020 alkoxy sheet does not transfer to every tube that says Pattex.
Which pack is for a new bath bead, and which is only a coating?
A new bath or basin bead is the 300 ml white anti-mould cartridge, or the 50 ml tube if the joint is short and you have no gun. Re-New and Sista Neue Fuge are coatings. If the old bead is loose, cut it out before you buy a sanitary pack.
Is AC411 silicone?
The amazon title says acrylic silicone. The November 2018 sheet describes an acrylic dispersion for wood and parquet, paintable after about 4 to 6 hours, and not for driving rain, high humidity or glass. Treat the sheet as the chemistry.
Is SL 620 a bathroom sealant?
No. The June 2018 sheet is a neutral sealant for facade and glazing, EN 15651-1 and EN 15651-2, movement 12.5%, about -30°C to +120°C. It does not declare EN 15651-3. Use it on a frame in RAL 8007 or RAL 8004.
Does the 50 ml tube match the 25% neutral sheet?
Model 2721071 says neutral. That word has not been matched to the 9 April 2020 alkoxy sheet, which states 25% movement. Do not copy 25%, or that sheet's plastics and mirrors, onto this tube.
Why does the RAL 8007 listing say red?
The bullet says building-industry maroon RAL 8007. The colour field says red. The one written review calls it brown and glossy, and the weight is 145 g against a 300 ml claim. Match the frame only when the live colour, the RAL code and the photo agree.
