Corded or cordless 11 mm glue gun

Updated: 23 October 2026

This is the cordless or corded glue gun decision for an 11 mm stick. The only cordless gun in this comparison is the WORKPRO 12 V model on the [hot glue gun 11mm comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/hot-glue-gun-11mm). The other five are corded. Peter F. used those amazon.co.uk listings and Electrical Safety First’s charging notes. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Choose cordless when the socket is the problem and the job fits the stated runtime. Stay corded for a long session and a temperature you can read.

What cordless means in this comparison

The cordless WORKPRO is about £32.20 with 4.4 from 79 reviews. The listing says 12 V, a 2,000 mAh pack, USB-C charging, up to 45 minutes of continuous use, auto-off after 10 idle minutes, heat-up in 180 seconds, and 12 g/min. The box includes 15 sticks of 11 × 200 mm. No temperature in °C is stated. The page says not to use the gun while it is charging. That 45-minute line is a listing claim. Tooled Up puts typical cordless runtime around 30–60 minutes. Take this gun for a wreath, a craft table or a loft. Leave it for an afternoon at a bench. One reviewer says glue melted inside the chamber. Another says the charger did not work.

When the cable is still the better tool

A corded gun here has no battery limit. You pay for that with a lead, and with whatever plug arrived. None of the six listings states the plug type. A domestic mains gun needs a correctly fitted BS 1363 plug, or the route in regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 in Great Britain. Northern Ireland has its own version. Going cordless removes that check. It does not tell you the nozzle temperature. Stick diameter is on the buying guide. The corded WORKPRO at about £15.99 states 165°C at 60 W and 190°C at 100 W. A UK review measured about 140°C on low and 160–174°C on high. The cordless listing never states a °C, so these pages cannot say it runs as hot as a 100 W corded gun. Heat-up on the corded gun is claimed at 90 seconds, against 180 seconds on the battery model. SEEKONE at about £18.99 and BEEWAY at about £22.99 have large review files and no working °C. If the socket is within the 1.5 m cord on the corded WORKPRO, start there. Which corded gun fits which job is on the best 11 mm glue gun page.

Charging the 12 V pack

Charge the 12 V pack on a stable surface. Electrical Safety First says not to leave a cordless pack charging overnight. The WORKPRO listing says not to use the gun while it charges, so you do not finish a bead with the USB-C lead plugged in. A swollen pack, a burning smell, or a charger that does not work, which one review already reported, is the point to stop. Burns are on the how to use page.

Guns above this price

Abais lists the Tec 308 from £72.26 as a 12 mm gun, not the 11 × 200 mm stick in the WORKPRO box. Steinel’s MobileGlue 5011 states 130/200°C on a page that is not a UK price. Socket missing and the job short: the cordless WORKPRO. Socket available, or you want 165°C and 190°C written down: a corded gun, and a look at the pins.

Common questions

Will the cordless 11 mm gun run as hot as a 100 W corded gun?
The cordless listing in this comparison does not state a °C, so there is no basis to match it to 100 W or to the corded WORKPRO’s 165°C and 190°C. Those two figures belong only to the corded WORKPRO, and a UK review measured lower. The cordless page claims 12 g/min and heat-up in 180 seconds. Treat heat as unpublished.
How long does the WORKPRO battery claim last?
The listing says up to 45 minutes of continuous use from a 2,000 mAh pack, with auto-off after 10 minutes idle. A wreath-maker’s review mentioned about 30–45 minutes. That is one report beside a claim. Tooled Up’s general band for cordless guns is about 30–60 minutes. Plan inside the shorter end if a dead gun halfway through matters.
Can I use it while it charges?
The WORKPRO listing says not to. Electrical Safety First also says not to leave a cordless pack on charge overnight, and to charge on a stable surface. USB-C on this gun fills the 2,000 mAh pack before the session. It is not a way to run the heater from the lead. If the charger does not work, which one review reported, stop using that pack.
Is a short mains lead a reason to go cordless?
It is, when the work moves around a room and the session fits the battery claim. SEEKONE reviews mention a short stiff cable. The corded WORKPRO lists 1.5 m. A lead that only annoys you at a fixed bench is a weaker reason to spend about £32.20 than a loft with no socket. Cordless does not fix strings, drips, or a 100 mm stick that is too short to feed.
Do I still need to think about a UK plug?
You do on every corded gun here, because plug type is absent from the listings. SEEKONE’s voltage field says 220 volts. BEEWAY’s says 230.01 volts. Neither line is a BS 1363 promise. The 12 V WORKPRO uses a USB-C charger, so the plug question moves to the charger and the socket you charge from. Regulation 35 remains the Great Britain text for a non-UK mains plug.
Who should stay on a corded gun?
Stay corded for a long session and for a stated temperature. The corded WORKPRO is the temperature pair at about £15.99. Move to the 12 V gun when the socket is what stops the job, and keep the 45-minute claim in view.
