How to choose an 11 mm glue gun

Updated: 23 October 2026

You are about to buy a full-size hot glue gun, and the listings shout wattage before they say which stick fits. This is how to choose an 11 mm glue gun: diameter, then length, then the temperature the listing actually states, then the cord and the box. It does not rank the six guns. The fits sit on the [hot glue gun 11mm comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/hot-glue-gun-11mm). Peter F. used those amazon.co.uk rows, Glue Guns Direct’s size and melt notes, and regulation 35 on plugs. This is not a lab test. Shelf prices run from about £12.17 to about £32.20. Stick diameter and length

An 11 mm gun in this comparison takes a full-size stick about 11 mm across. A 7 mm mini stick will not feed that barrel. If that is the only question, read 11 mm or 7 mm glue sticks before wattage. UK trade sticks sold as 12 mm are often about 11.3–11.7 mm. That is Glue Guns Direct’s note on its Tecbond sticks, not a promise that every 12 mm stick fits every 11 mm gun. A thinner stick can melt back. Both WORKPRO guns are sold with 11 × 200 mm. SEEKONE, FAHEFANA and BEEWAY are about 150 mm. Houshan is 11 × 270 mm. A UK review on the corded WORKPRO said 100 mm sticks are too short for the feed. BEEWAY’s title says 11.2 × 150 mm and a bullet says 11.0 × 150 mm.

Wattage is not the temperature

Wattage on these hobby guns is about how fast the heater recovers while you pull the trigger. Quote a °C only when that listing states it. Only the corded WORKPRO states both steps: 165°C and 9 g/min at 60 W, and 190°C and 12 g/min at 100 W, with heat-up claimed at 90 seconds, at about £15.99. A UK review measured about 140°C on low and 160–174°C on high. SEEKONE states 60 W and 100 W and does not give a °C per position. Its 220°C line is a nozzle-durability claim, and the voltage field says 220 volts. FAHEFANA’s title says 200 W and the details line says 100 watts. A UK review reported about 195 W for a few seconds, then a lower draw. BEEWAY’s up-to-500°F line is about the nozzle, not a fabric setting. If the listing never states a low °C, you do not have a low-melt gun for fabric or foam.

Cord, plug, and what is in the box

A domestic mains gun for a UK socket needs a correctly fitted BS 1363 plug, or the conversion-plug route in regulation 35 of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. Northern Ireland has its own version of those regulations. None of the six listings states the plug. If the lead is the objection, the corded or cordless page comes after the stick is settled. The corded WORKPRO has a foldable bracket, SEEKONE a stainless stand some reviewers call unstable, FAHEFANA a pop-up stand, and BEEWAY a wire stand several reviews call short or wobbly. BEEWAY includes a hard case. SEEKONE does not list a case.

A short decision

Choose an 11 mm gun and the length printed with it when you need more glue per pull on wood, thick card or a plastic housing. The corded WORKPRO is the only listing here with 165°C and 190°C. SEEKONE at about £18.99 is the largest review file. BEEWAY at about £22.99 is the hard case. A wreath table with no socket is the cordless WORKPRO at about £32.20. If the joint must hold weight, seal water or repair a car panel, this is the wrong adhesive.

Common questions

Do I need 60 W or 100 W?
You need the stick and a heat level that suits the material. On the corded WORKPRO, 60 W is the listing’s 165°C step and 100 W is the 190°C step, and a UK review measured less. SEEKONE uses 60 W and 100 W without a °C for each position. A higher wattage is there to recover while you lay a longer bead. It does not, by itself, tell you the nozzle temperature.
Is a higher wattage a hotter nozzle?
Only when the listing ties a temperature to that step. FAHEFANA’s title says 200 W and the details say 100 watts, and one UK review saw a brief high draw and then a drop. BEEWAY is a straight 100 W gun with no working °C. Treat a lone wattage as heater size. Treat a °C line as the heat claim, and only for the gun that printed it.
Will 12 mm sticks fit?
Glue Guns Direct says its European 12 mm Tecbond sticks measure about 11.3–11.7 mm and ran in several 11/12 mm guns, while sticks under about 11.3 mm risk melt-back. That is one supplier’s note about its own sticks. BEEWAY already prints both 11.2 mm and 11.0 mm. If the stick jams or rattles, stop. Do not force it.
How long a stick should I buy?
Match the gun. In this comparison that is 200 mm for both WORKPRO models, 150 mm for SEEKONE, FAHEFANA and BEEWAY, and 270 mm for Houshan. A 100 mm stick failed the feed on the corded WORKPRO in a UK review. A longer stick is not a hotter stick. It is a stick that reaches the mechanism the gun was built around.
What temperature is safe for fabric versus wood?
Fabric, foam and anything that scorches want a low-melt gun, around the 130°C band Glue Guns Direct quotes for its low-melt tools. Wood and many hard plastics are where a high-temp hobby glue, near that supplier’s 195°C, is the usual suggestion, and you still try a scrap piece. This comparison does not give a low °C except the corded WORKPRO’s 165°C claim, which a review measured nearer 140°C. If the listing is silent, you do not have a fabric setting.
