Cordless hot glue gun buying guide

Updated: 23 October 2026

Amazon.co.uk glue-gun results can all look cordless, all promise a fast heat-up, and all sit somewhere between about £14 and £35. The risk is paying for a bare DeWalt body when you thought you bought a complete kit, or ordering 11 mm sticks for a gun that only takes about 7 mm. This cordless hot glue gun buying guide walks the checks in order: battery class, stick diameter, box contents, heat claims, then review sample. Shortlist here before you open the [cordless hot glue gun comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/cordless-hot-glue-gun). Prices below are the amazon.co.uk shelf prices on 19 October 2026. Decide the battery class

How the tool stays hot is three purchases, not one. Most rows are a USB mini with the cell in the price. You charge over USB-C, or micro USB on the Bosch GluePen. That is the default for cards, decorations and short fixes. Yofidra is the own-pack route: two 2000 mAh batteries and a charger in the kit bullet, with 11 mm sticks, at about £34.99. SEEKONE SCE103 is the platform body. The listing names DeWalt 20 V packs DCB200, DCB201, DCB203, DCB204, DCB205, DCB206, DCB208 and DCB210. Batteries are not included. About £18.99 is the yellow body, 20 sticks and a manual. Price a pack and charger before you call it cheaper than a £14 USB kit. A cord-free mains gun that heats on 230 V and then runs briefly unplugged is a different class. For long beads at a bench, read cordless or corded before you force a USB mini into that role.

Match stick diameter before you buy sticks

Forcing the wrong stick is a common fault. Listings state about 7 mm, including 0.275 inch and 0.28 inch wording, or 11 mm. 0.275 inch converts to 7.0 mm. Tilswall also prints 7 × 140 mm. Athnevy prints 7 × 100 mm. HHDQFTSLG prints 7 × 150 mm. Yofidra and SEEKONE are 11 mm. An 11 mm stick will not feed cleanly in a 7 mm mini, and a thin stick will rattle in an 11 mm chamber. EZUVITA and VIWKO leave diameter blank. Do not guess from the photo. Measure a stick you own, or pick a row that prints the size.

Read the box line, not the hero image

Sticks, a USB cable and a mains charger are different lines. The hero image can show a pile of sticks while the included-components field says only the gun. Tilswall W106s lists the gun, 20 sticks and a USB-C cable, and no mains adapter. Use a 5 V / 2 A adapter, maximum 10 W, and not a fast charger. That limit is for this model only. Electrical Safety First still applies: use the original charger path or a reputable replacement, and do not leave charging unattended overnight. Athnevy lists 30 sticks and a USB-C cable, with no wall plug. Yofidra’s kit bullet lists the gun, two batteries, a charger and 10 sticks, while the included field says Batteries. Trust the fuller kit bullet. SEEKONE is body, sticks and manual: no pack and no charger. Entry complete kits sit around £13.99–£14.99, the mid band around £18–£27, the GluePen about £32 and Yofidra about £34.99. Compare a complete mini with another complete mini.

Heat claims and review samples

Every warm-up figure is a listing claim. Athnevy prints about 10 seconds and roughly 180°C. Tilswall prints about 90 seconds and 170°C ± 10°C. Yofidra prints 100 W and 100°C. SEEKONE prints 100 W and 170–190°C. Do not invent Celsius from watts. Auto-off, where stated, is often 3 or 5 minutes. Review count matters more than a lonely high average. Tilswall pink and blue share 4.4 from 2,554 reviews. AOZOY blue and orange share 4.5 from 1,045. EZARC shows 4.6 from 1,111. HHDQFTSLG’s 4.7 sits on 34 reviews, which is not a crown.

Common questions

What should I check before I buy a cordless hot glue gun?
Check battery class first: built-in USB, own packs, or a platform body. Then stick diameter, about 7 mm versus 11 mm. Then whether the price includes sticks, a cable and a charger, or only a bare body. Treat every heat-up and temperature figure as a listing claim. Finally weigh review count. Two colours can share one review pool.
Is a USB mini the same purchase as a DeWalt-body gun?
No. A USB mini includes its cell in the shelf price and usually takes about 7 mm sticks. SEEKONE’s DeWalt-body listing is a 100 W tool without a battery. You must already own a listed 20 V pack or buy one separately. Both stay hot without a trailing lead. They are still different checkouts.
How do I tell 7 mm from 11 mm on a listing?
Read the stick size field or bullet. About 7 mm often appears as 7 × 100 mm, 7 × 140 mm, 7 × 150 mm, or 0.275 inch or 0.28 inch. 0.275 inch converts to 7.0 mm. Eleven millimetre kits in this set say 11 mm plainly. If diameter is missing, do not infer it from the photo alone.
Does the box include a mains adapter or only a cable?
Often only a cable. Tilswall and Athnevy list USB-C cables without a wall adapter. Bosch GluePen bullets include a micro USB charger. Yofidra’s kit bullet names a charger with the two packs. SEEKONE includes neither battery nor charger. Read the included-components line, not the lifestyle image.
Can I trust a 10-second heat-up claim?
Treat it as marketing until your own stick melts cleanly. Listings in this set claim anything from about 10 seconds to several minutes. UK reviews on high-volume models also report slower warm-ups and incomplete melt. Wait for a proper bead before you press parts together.
Why do two colours share the same review count?
Amazon often pools parent variations. Tilswall pink and blue share 2,554 reviews. AOZOY blue and orange share 1,045. Count each pair once when you judge evidence. Buying the other colour does not buy a separate test history.
Is SEEKONE at about £19 a complete kit?
Not if you need a battery. The about £18.99 price is for the body, sticks and manual. Add a listed DeWalt 20 V pack, and a charger if you lack one, before you compare it with a £14 USB mini that already includes its cell.
