Best air caulking gun

Updated: 23 October 2026

You want one air gun for a job you can describe, not a winner for every joint in Britain. The best air caulking gun on this shortlist depends on the pack and on the compressor you already run. We compared five amazon.co.uk listings on 19 October 2026, from the Clarke at £26.99 to the banapoy sausage gun at £65.44. This is not a lab test. The full table sits on the [air caulking gun comparison](/hub/fillers-adhesives-and-sprays/air-caulking-gun). If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

There is no best gun for every joint

Stars, price, and the word professional point in different directions. Clarke is 4.3 from 163 reviews with UK text and a stated 1 cfm. Chicago Pneumatic is 4.5 from 383 ratings, and the written reviews in that raw sample are not from the United Kingdom. banapoy is 5.0 from three ratings with no review text, at the highest price, for a 600 ml barrel. A five-star line that short does not outrank a 163-review record.

Standard cartridges and a UK review record

For a normal 215 × 50 mm cartridge, the Clarke CAT82B (B006YLZ2DO) is the best-documented gun in this set, at £26.99, with 4.8–10.3 bar and a nominal 1 cfm stated. UK reviewers use it on thick adhesive, van-window sealant, chemical-fixing resin, and long silicone beads. That is why it is the top pick when the job is a standard tube and the compressor is modest. Skip it if the trigger must crawl a bead on its own: reviews say it is all-or-nothing until a separate regulator slows the air. Skip it for a 600 ml foil sausage, and for the larger tubes reviewers say will not fit. The end-cap thread and the rubber seal are a repeated fault. One reviewer found a small 15–25 litre oil-free compressor was not enough. The checks, including the manual’s 70 psi running figure, are on the pneumatic caulking gun buying guide.

A named maker with a high air-use figure

The Chicago Pneumatic CP9885 (B001VY1KU8) is 4.5 from 383 ratings, at £40.71, for cartridges listed as 2 in × 8.5 in. Stated weight is 1.05 kg and the sound level is 71 dB. It carries the best-value mark only because the Clarke is already the top pick. The amazon listing does not state pressure or air consumption. The maker’s page states 6.3 bar maximum and 8 l/s at load. We did not measure that flow. A small oil-free DIY compressor will not hold it, and the written reviews in the sample are not from the United Kingdom. Choose the CP9885 if you already run a compressor with that output and you want trigger-metered flow. Skip it if the only air you have is a 24 litre tank for a brad nailer. Air supply is on the compressor for a caulking gun page.

When the 600 ml listing is the relevant one

Buy the banapoy (B09SZKGFJH, £65.44) only if you dispense 600 ml sausages. It is the only listing here that states that barrel, plus 0–123 psi and thrust of 1.45 kN at 6.8 bar. The user record is 5.0 from 3 ratings and no review text. The title says aluminium alloy and a bullet says reinforced plastic. Air use is not stated, and nothing says a bathroom cartridge fits. Skip plplaaoo at £27.14: no pressure, no reviews, AC/DC against an air-gun title, and a printed weight of 40 g. Skip BONKZEBU at £63.69: a regulator is named, but there is no pack size, no bar figure, and no review. If you need COX-level thrust at 6.8 bar, buy that class from a trade seller and read its manual.

Common questions

Is the Clarke the one to buy for a normal cartridge?
For a 215 × 50 mm tube, yes, among these five, if you will add a regulator and you stay inside the CAT82B manual. The listing states the size, 1 cfm, and 4.8–10.3 bar, at £26.99, with 4.3 from 163 reviews and UK text. The manual’s working advice is no more than 70 psi, and not above 90 psi. Larger tubes and 600 ml sausages are the wrong pack for this gun.
Is the CP9885 better because the rating is 4.5?
The star line is higher and the count is larger: 4.5 from 383, against Clarke’s 4.3 from 163. That does not make it the better gun for a small compressor. The maker states 8 l/s and 6.3 bar, and those figures are not on the amazon row. The written reviews in the file are not from the UK. Use 4.5 as a large non-UK sample, not as a British bead test.
Are those CP reviews from the UK?
The rating count is on the amazon.co.uk listing. The review bodies saved in the raw sample are from the United States, Canada, Mexico, and India. There is no United Kingdom review in that sample. Clarke’s file does contain UK review text, including the seal and regulator complaints.
Is the £65 sausage gun the professional choice?
It is the relevant listing if you need 600 ml and you accept 3 ratings with no text. Professional, on this page, means a stated barrel and a stated thrust, not a site test. The material line conflicts, air use is missing, and a COX-class 310 ml dispenser at a specialist is a different purchase, often around £100 or more including VAT depending on the seller.
Why not the other £27 gun?
The plplaaoo is £27.14, close to the Clarke, and it has no star rating. Pressure and air use are absent. The technical table says AC/DC while the bullets say pneumatic, and the weight field says 40 g. Clarke at £26.99 states a cartridge size, a cfm figure, and 163 reviews. Similar money, different evidence.
