Best bamboo screening

Updated: October 2026

You want one roll from this amazon.co.uk set, and you want a reason to leave the other two in the basket. Best bamboo screening, in this comparison, cannot mean a lab winner or a UK-wide ranking. It means which of the three captured listings fits the fence in front of you, and who should buy none of them. The prices, stars and size lines live on the [bamboo fence comparison](/hub/fencing-and-wire/bamboo-fence), noted by Peter F. on 19 October 2026. A star row is not a privacy test.

Best for a fence about 2 m high

If your panels are about 2 m and you want one sheet to cover that face, TradeXone is the only roll in this set with that title. The unit count is 8.0 square metres, which matches 2 m by 4 m. Reviewers use it on old fences, decking, balconies and bins, and several put it up with a staple gun. That is the practical case for spending about £39.89 rather than buying a shorter roll and leaving a band of panel showing. The page never says whether the cane is split or whole, and it does not print a diameter, a weight or a binding. Reviewers call the wire thin or loose, and the gaps wider than the photos. Some hung a second layer. A few rolls arrived about 5 cm short, and one slat shattered when a nail went through the cane. Assembly required is marked No, which only means the sheet arrives as a roll. Fixings are still not in the box.

Best-sampled roll at 1.5 m

When the fence is about 1.5 m, the choice is between two split rolls, and the sample sizes are not close. Abaseen has 427 ratings at 4.0, and the title, the 150 cm by 400 cm dimensions and the 6 square metre count all say the same thing. The description says heat-treated split bamboo on galvanised steel wire. On the main comparison that agreement, plus the size of the sample, is why Abaseen is the top pick in the set. It is not a dense screen. Reviews say you can see through it unless you double it. Wadan is the other 1.5 m title, at about £24.99 and 4.2 from only 68 ratings. Its size line says 1.5 m by 4 m and its product-dimensions line says 100 by 100 by 300 cm. The lower price is the best value only after you have measured the roll and it really is 1.5 m by 4 m.

Who should skip this set

Skip all three if the job needs a number these pages do not print. A stated cane diameter and a stated weight are how specialist sellers separate a thin slat from a thicker culm. UK Bamboo’s Moso slat was listed at £59.95 excluding VAT with a 10/20 mm note, and a Tonkin screen at £49.60 excluding VAT. Those are not extra products in our table. If you need that kind of line, leave these three rolls. Also skip them if you need a dog-proof or stock-proof boundary. None of the listings is that fence. A visual break for chickens is a cover, not a barrier the animals cannot push through. The checks that come before any of this are on the bamboo screening buying guide.

What the stars do not decide

A 4.3 does not mean smaller gaps than a 4.0. TradeXone’s higher star line still sits next to see-through comments and thin wire. Abaseen’s lower stars sit next to the only 1.5 m listing whose measurements agree. Wadan’s 4.2 looks tidy until you notice 68 ratings and a dimensions cell that fights the title. Heat treatment, claimed for Abaseen and Wadan and not stated for TradeXone, is a sentence in a description. It does not come with a test certificate. Two Abaseen rolls are about £59.98 at the captured price for one 4 m run. Two TradeXone rolls are about £79.78. That second purchase is the real cost of the gaps, on the bamboo screening privacy page. If the posts already move, none of these rolls is the next step. Common questions

Which of the three should you buy if the fence is about 2 m?
TradeXone, titled 2 m by 4 m at about £39.89, is the only roll here at that height. You still get gap comments, no printed cane diameter, and fixings you must buy yourself. A 1.5 m roll will stop short of the top of a 2 m panel unless you add height, which may need permission.
Is the cheapest roll the best value?
Wadan at about £24.99 is the best value only if the roll measures as 1.5 m by 4 m. The listing also prints 100 by 100 by 300 cm. Measure before you cut. If the sheet is the wrong size, Abaseen’s extra £5 bought a listing that agrees with itself.
Who should skip all three?
You should, if you need a printed diameter and weight, a pet-proof fence, or a single layer that blocks the view completely. Specialist pages state cane sizes these three listings omit. A roll will not replace posts that already lean.
Can you use the tall roll as a dog fence?
No. TradeXone is a visual cover. Reviewers describe thin wire and slats that drop out, and one slat shattered under a nail. A dog can see through the gaps and can push a sheet that is only tied to the face of a panel.
Does heat treatment make Abaseen or Wadan the pick?
It does not decide it. Both descriptions say the bamboo was heat-treated. Neither prints a certificate or a lifespan. TradeXone does not make the claim. Choose on height, on whether the size lines agree, and on the review sample, then measure the roll on the path.
