Wi-Fi doorbell with no subscription

Updated: 16 October 2026

You want last Tuesday's courier on a memory card, or you want the Ring price in pounds before the doorbell goes in the basket. A line that says Wi-Fi doorbell with no subscription does not mean every thumbnail and every live view is free. It means you read where that listing stores the clip. The [Wi-Fi doorbell comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/wifi-doorbell) holds the six amazon.co.uk rows, from £9.34 to £109.99. The Products Compared editorial team read those storage lines and the UK reviews on 15 October 2026. We did not subscribe to a plan or fill a card in a lab. Card, plan, or not stated

Sort the six by the storage sentence. The Tapo TD21 at £44.99 and the Tapo D205 at £34.99 name a microSD card up to 512 GB, or Tapo Care. The card is not in Included Components. A no-monthly-fee line still leaves Tapo Care optional. Local playback is the card. The Reolink at £109.99 names microSD up to 256 GB, not included, or a Reolink NVR. The Ring Battery Video Doorbell Plus at £49.99 saves recorded video for up to 180 days with a subscription, and the listing does not mention a card. The FineLuck M52 at £9.34 sells cloud storage separately and has no microSD slot on the table. The Miangerrn at £17.90 prints microSD as 128 MB, which its single review does not check. Whether the doorbell sleeps or stays awake is on the battery vs wired video doorbell page.

Ring Protect, in pounds

Ring Protect Solo is £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year on Ring's UK plans page. That price is separate from the £49.99 doorbell. A year of Solo at the annual price matches the doorbell's shelf price again. This comparison only prices Solo. Ring's UK FAQ says live view and answering work without a subscription. Saved video needs a plan. The listing has UK reviews and no Customer Reviews line, so there is no star rating beside the fee. Skip this row if you will not pay Solo and you need yesterday's clip. Who that leaves is on the best Wi-Fi doorbell UK page.

What a cheap doorbell still charges

The FineLuck bullets do not print a monthly price. In the first 50 UK reviews, people quote sums that do not match, from about £28 for six months to about £112 a year. Those are reviewer reports, not an official tariff. Some say live view is paywalled with the recordings. Others say live view works without the plan. The listing itself only says cloud storage is sold separately. A £9.34 shelf price is not yet the year's cost. The order of the checks is on the Wi-Fi doorbell buying guide.

What no subscription does not mean

A free local card does not include every detection feature on the brochure. The TD21 highlight pairs no monthly fee with free AI detection. The D205 pairs it with essential alerts, and the hub is not in the box. If a toggle sits behind Tapo Care, the card has not paid for that toggle. The card is usually extra. TD21 reviews say a cheap card would not format, and SanDisk, Samsung, or Kingston did. Local storage does not cancel the privacy duties. If the lens takes in the pavement, a neighbour, or a shared landing, the ICO still treats that as home CCTV.

Common questions

Which of these six can store clips on a card?
The Tapo TD21 and the Tapo D205 name microSD up to 512 GB. The Reolink names microSD up to 256 GB or an NVR. The card is not included. The Ring names a subscription and does not mention a card. The FineLuck names cloud sold separately. The Miangerrn table prints 128 MB, which the one review does not check.
Is the memory card in the box?
No, on the listings that name a slot. The TD21 includes the chime and the doorbell. The D205 includes a bracket and the doorbell. The Reolink bullets say the card is not included. Buy the card separately, and expect some cheap cards to fail formatting.
What does Ring still do without Ring Protect?
Ring's UK FAQ says live view and answering work without a subscription. Saved video needs a plan. The amazon.co.uk bullets tie saved video of up to 180 days, and package alerts, to a subscription sold separately. Speaking to someone at the door now is the part the FAQ says you still have.
What is Ring Protect Solo in pounds?
On Ring's UK plans page, Solo is £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year. The Battery Video Doorbell Plus in this set is £49.99 on amazon.co.uk, so a year of Solo at the annual price is another £49.99. Check the live page if you have several Ring devices, because Multi is a different tier.
Does no monthly fee on a Tapo include Tapo Care?
The no-monthly-fee line is the local card and the alerts described as free. Tapo Care is still named as cloud. A slot up to 512 GB does not mean every cloud feature is included. Fit a card and see which clips play without a Care prompt.
Why do FineLuck reviews mention a paywall?
The bullets say cloud storage is sold separately and do not print a price. Some reviewers say recordings and live view need a plan. Others say live view works without one. They quote different sums, from about £28 for six months to about £112 a year. Those quotes are not an official tariff.
Does a memory card remove the privacy duties?
No. The ICO still treats a doorbell that films beyond your own property as home CCTV. A pavement, a neighbour, or a shared landing means a reason, a sign, as little footage as you need, secure storage, deletion, and a way to answer people in the clip. The card being local does not change that boundary.
