Outdoor security camera without a subscription

Updated: 16 October 2026

You will buy a memory card, and you do not want a direct debit after the camera is on the wall. An outdoor security camera without a subscription, in this set, records to a card you buy. The two Ring cameras need a plan to save video. The Blink kit in the box does not include local USB storage. The [outdoor security camera comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/outdoor-security-camera) only flags the fee. Prices are amazon.co.uk on 15 October 2026. A card does not change whether the camera is battery or mains. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost.

A card in the camera, bought separately

None of these listings puts a card in the box. On the Tapo C400 and C401, both £39.99, the TC82 at £44.99, the TC40 at £34.99 and the C310 pair at £64.99, clips can go to a microSD card up to 512 GB. The C401’s 4.4 from 4,389 reviews matches the C400 file, so do not count that sample twice. The EZVIZ C8c pair at £56.99 takes a card up to 512 GB or CloudPlay. The GALAYOU R6 at £38.99 and the Septekon S50 at £11.89 take a card up to 128 GB. Neither of those cloud tiers is stated as free. The Septekon file also says both 2K and 1080p.

Ring saves video only on a plan

Both Ring listings need a plan to save video. The battery model is £34.99, not the Stick Up Cam at £79.99 the same week. The Floodlight Cam Wired Plus is £69.99, not the Floodlight Camera 2K at £179.99. On Ring’s UK plans page in this pass, Solo is £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year for one device, Multi is £7.99 a month or £79.99 a year for one location, and Pro is £15.99 a month or £159.99 a year. Playback up to 180 days is that page’s line.

Optional cloud is not the same as a required plan

Tapo Care, on the UK store, starts from £2.99 a month or £29.49 a year. It is cloud backup, not the price of the microSD card. Ring’s saved video sits behind Solo, Multi or Pro. Septekon, GALAYOU and EZVIZ each mention cloud beside the card, and none of those lines is stated as free. The card is the no-fee path.

What no monthly fee costs instead

Twelve months at Solo’s monthly price is £59.88. That arithmetic is not the annual price, which the plans page lists at £49.99. £59.88 is already more than the Tapo TC40 at £34.99, and it still is not the card. Fit sits on the outdoor security camera buying guide and the best outdoor security camera page.

Common questions

Which outdoor security cameras in this set work without a subscription?
The ones that record to a card you buy: the Tapo listings, the EZVIZ C8c pair, the GALAYOU R6 and the Septekon S50. Person alerts on these Tapo listings do not need a plan. The two Ring cameras need a plan to save video. The Blink Outdoor 4 kit includes Sync Module Core, which has no local storage.
Do you still have to buy a memory card?
Yes. None of these twelve listings puts a card in the box. Tapo and EZVIZ go up to 512 GB microSD. The GALAYOU and the Septekon go up to 128 GB. The card is the no-fee store. Cloud on the Septekon, GALAYOU and EZVIZ lines is not stated as free.
What does Ring cost in the UK if you want saved clips?
On the UK plans page in this pass, Solo is £4.99 a month or £49.99 a year for one device, Multi is £7.99 a month or £79.99 a year at one location, and Pro is £15.99 a month or £159.99 a year. Twelve times £4.99 is £59.88, which is not the £49.99 annual Solo price. A 30-day trial is not ongoing free storage.
Does the Blink Outdoor 4 store clips on a USB stick?
Not with the module in the £24.99 box. Sync Module Core does not support local storage. Its USB-C port is for power only, and cloud clips need a plan or a trial. A Sync Module 2, sold separately, can keep motion clips on a USB drive you buy, when you are not subscribed. Person detection still needs the plan. Use 30 days for UK cloud history, not 60.
Is Blink person detection free if you add local storage?
No. Person detection on the Outdoor 4 is a plan feature, including if you later add a Sync Module 2 and a USB drive. Local clips without a subscription are the motion events the module can store. Blink’s plans page shows more than one price, including £2.50 and £8 a month, so confirm the figure in the app.
What is Tapo Care, and do you need it for a microSD card?
Tapo Care is optional cloud, from £2.99 a month or £29.49 a year on the UK store. You do not need it for a microSD card or for person alerts on these Tapo listings.
