HomeKit outdoor camera UK

Updated: 23 October 2026

The title says weatherproof. The specification says indoor. You can plug USB in a hallway, or you can run 240 V or solar on a wall, and those are not the same HomeKit outdoor camera UK job. This page is only power, weather, the electrician, and the ICO boundary for the six cameras in the [HomeKit camera comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/homekit-camera). It does not rank a top pick, and it does not explain iCloud+ caps. Shelf prices are the amazon.co.uk figures from 19 October 2026. The Products Compared editorial team has not lab-tested the housings.

USB indoors is a different job from a wet wall

Eve Cam and the eufy IndoorCam E220 are USB plug-in cameras for indoor use. Eve Cam’s listing says indoor use, corded electric at 5 V, batteries required No, and a USB power supply with a 220 cm cable in the box. Night vision is listed to 5 metres. Put it on a shelf or on the metal plate, point it at your own room, and stop. It is not an outdoor body. The E220 also says indoor use and corded electric, with a USB adapter and cable in the box. The specification prints IP65. eufy’s UK page says indoor only. Treat that IP65 row as catalogue text, not as permission to screw the camera to a wet soffit. Buyers who want a pet room or a hallway are on the right socket. Buyers who want a driveway are on the wrong one. If you can reach a USB socket inside your own boundary, Eve Cam or the E220 is the job. Eve Cam stays in Home with Secure Video. The E220 is 2K in its own app and 1080p in Home. Neither replaces a floodlight. If the wall is wet, or there is no indoor socket within a short cable, you are looking at Circle View’s indoor brick, Eve’s 240 V terminals, or the E40’s solar panel.

Circle View: IP64 body, indoor brick

Logitech Circle View’s title calls it weatherproof and IP64, with a wall-mounting bracket included. The specification block says indoor use and waterproof rating IP21. The usage line says amateur, inside, outside. Leave that conflict visible. Logitech’s own outdoor article says the body is IP64 and the in-box power supply is indoor only. You mount the camera outside, route the cable indoors, and keep the brick in the dry. That is not a 240 V floodlight. There is no dimmable lamp on this row. There is no outdoor-rated supply in the box. UK reviews mention drilling a hole for the lead. If you cannot take a cable through the wall, Circle View does not become an outdoor camera just because the title says weatherproof. Compared with Eve Cam it can sit on an outside wall; compared with Eve Outdoor Cam it avoids a new mains circuit and still leaves you with an indoor brick. Skip Circle View for a wet wall if you need a sealed 240 V fitting or a solar add-on with no indoor lead. Voltage 220, wattage 3600, and 128 GB SD on the amazon table are catalogue noise and are not a power specification.

Eve Outdoor Cam is 240 V with a disputed IP line

Eve Outdoor Cam, model 20ECA8101, is corded electric at 240 V. The box lists a mounting kit and connection terminals. Eve’s FAQ asks for live, neutral, and earth at an existing light. Batteries required is No. The floodlight is dimmable with a light-boost line in the bullets. Black B09Z2T94S3 prints IP65 on the amazon table. White B0BMVT99GF prints IP55. Eve’s FAQ also says IP55. Do not treat the black IP65 row as Eve’s published rating. UK reviews of that shared 3.5 from 593 file include water in the housing after heavy rain, including a one-star update with a photograph. They also include Wi-Fi dropouts. A new outdoor circuit in a dwelling in England is notifiable under Approved Document P. Do not use the Part P label for Scotland or Northern Ireland. Call an electrician if the existing light has no neutral, if you are unsure about earth, or if you would be adding a new circuit. A USB indoor camera is not that job. Skip Eve Outdoor Cam if you only have a USB socket, if you cannot accept the IP55 and IP65 conflict next to those water notes, or if you need Android. White at £216.00 is not a drier camera than black at £200.46; it is the same model and the same review line.

Solar add-on is not a floodlight

The eufyCam E40 add-on is solar powered, IP66, and listed for outdoor use. Batteries required is Yes. The box lists a mounting screw. It needs HomeBase S380 or HomeBase 2, sold separately, and cannot run alone. There is no floodlight on this row; the highlight talks about spotlight-free colour night vision. Buyers who already have a HomeBase praise a fast add and solar that held through cloudy UK weeks, with one winter pair needing a power-bank top-up. It does not replace Eve Outdoor Cam’s 240 V lamp. It does not include the hub. HomeKit is named in a bullet and denied as fully compatible in a UK review. Skip it if you have no HomeBase, if you need a floodlight, or if you need confirmed Secure Video. Skip the E220’s IP65 line as an outdoor alternative; that camera stays indoors. If the lens sees a pavement, a shared hall, or next door, the ICO says UK GDPR applies: a real reason, no more footage than you need, and a sign. Consent is rarely the basis. Circle View’s 180° view and Eve Outdoor Cam’s 157° floodlight are the two bodies most likely to see past your boundary. An indoor USB camera pointed at your own room is usually a household matter. The ICO will not take the camera down for you. Match the wall, then stop. USB indoors: Eve Cam or the E220. IP64 body with the brick inside: Circle View. 240 V with neutral and earth, after the water notes: Eve Outdoor Cam. Solar on a HomeBase you already own: E40. For the order of hub and plan questions, use the HomeKit camera buying guide.

Common questions

Which cameras in this set are USB indoor only?
Eve Cam and the eufy IndoorCam E220. Both are corded USB, batteries required No, usage Indoor. eufy’s UK page also keeps the E220 indoors. The IP65 row on the E220 table is not an outdoor pass.
Can Circle View live on an outside wall?
The body can, if you accept the IP64 title versus the IP21 indoor specification and you keep the power supply indoors with the cable routed through. Logitech’s outdoor article is that rule. It is not a 240 V floodlight.
Why do two Eve Outdoor Cam ASINs print IP65 and IP55?
The black amazon table says IP65. The white amazon table says IP55. Eve’s FAQ says IP55. They are the same model, 20ECA8101, and they share one 593-review file that includes water in the housing. Do not treat the black IP65 line as the official figure.
When is a new outdoor circuit notifiable in England?
Approved Document P says a new circuit in a dwelling in England is notifiable. A new 240 V outdoor point for Eve Outdoor Cam can be that job. A USB indoor camera is not. Do not apply the Part P label to Scotland or Northern Ireland.
Does the E40 replace a 240 V floodlight?
No. It is a solar add-on with IP66 and no floodlight. It needs a HomeBase S380 or HomeBase 2, sold separately. Colour night vision is not the same as Eve’s dimmable lamp.
What does Eve ask for at the existing light: live, neutral, earth?
Eve’s Outdoor Cam FAQ asks for live, neutral, and earth. The box includes connection terminals. If the existing fitting has no neutral, or you are unsure, that is an electrician’s visit, not a USB workaround.
If the lens sees the pavement, what does the ICO ask for?
UK GDPR applies beyond your boundary. You need a real reason, no more footage than you need, and a sign. Consent is rarely the lawful basis. The ICO will not remove the camera for you.
Is the E220’s IP65 line permission to mount it outside?
No. Usage is Indoor. eufy’s UK page says indoor only. An IP number on a USB indoor camera is not an outdoor pass.
