HomeKit Secure Video iCloud+ UK

Updated: 23 October 2026

You bought the camera because the listing said encrypted clips in Home, then the add asked for a paid iCloud+ plan. HomeKit Secure Video iCloud+ UK is that bill: which tier, how many cameras it will take, and what 10 days actually means. The video does not fill the 50 GB allowance. The plan still caps the camera count. This page is Apple’s UK prices and those caps, not a product winner. Eve and Logitech in the [HomeKit camera comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/homekit-camera) still need the plan for the timeline. eufy’s no-monthly-fee line is a different path.

The hub analyses; iCloud+ keeps 10 days

HomeKit Secure Video does not dump saved listings into your photo library. A compatible home hub — HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV — analyses the stream at home. Apple’s UK storage article says the last 10 days of encrypted footage are kept, only you can view them, and the video does not count towards your iCloud storage allowance. On day 11 the oldest clips drop off unless you saved one. Eve Cam’s quick-start note says the same: clips are deleted after ten days unless you save one. The hub and the plan are both required for that timeline. Eve Cam and both Eve Outdoor Cam listings say a HomePod or Apple TV with tvOS 15 and iCloud+ are required and not included. Circle View’s title names HomeKit Secure Video; the iCloud plan is not priced on that listing. Live view on the home Wi-Fi is the smaller feature. If you can see the porch while you are on the sofa and the timeline is empty once you leave, you are missing the hub, the plan, or both. Encryption here means the clip is stored so that Apple’s article can say only you view it. It is not a promise that footage never leaves the house in every marketing sense, and this page does not claim that. It also does not claim a lab test of the cameras.

The plan caps cameras, not clip size

Apple’s UK iCloud+ page prices the common tiers at £0.99 a month for 50 GB, £2.99 for 200 GB, and £8.99 for 2 TB. Apple’s Secure Video article maps those tiers to one camera, up to five cameras, and unlimited cameras. The free 5 GB iCloud plan is not a Secure Video tier. You cannot record Secure Video on that free allowance. 6 TB and 12 TB exist above 2 TB if you already need that much other storage; you do not need them only to unlock unlimited cameras, because 2 TB already does that. If you already pay £2.99 for 200 GB because of photos, you do not buy a second plan for the camera. You still cannot put six Secure Video cameras on that 200 GB tier. The five-camera cap is still five. Do not say Apple removed that cap for everyone. A driveway pair plus an indoor Eve Cam is three cameras and fits 200 GB. A six-camera house needs the 2 TB unlimited tier, even if the video itself never touches the gigabytes. The 50 GB tile looks large next to the line that the video does not count. People still pick it for one Eve Cam and then add Circle View, and the second camera has no slot. Pay for the camera cap. A household that only wants one indoor Secure Video camera can stay on £0.99. A household that wants Eve Outdoor Cam on two walls should start at £2.99.

eufy’s no-monthly-fee line is a different path

The E220 title says no monthly fee. That is eufy’s own recording path: local storage, often on a microSD card that buyers praise. A card is not in the specification block, so the box does not hand you a timeline. eufy’s Apple Home feature guide says that when a HomePod is present, Home recording is stored in iCloud. If you turn HomeKit on for the E220, you are back on Apple’s camera-cap rules for that Home view. The eufy app can still use a card. HomeKit view stays 1080p. The E40 bullets say local storage on your devices and no monthly fee. That path sits on the HomeBase, which is not in the box. It is not the same as Eve’s 10-day Secure Video history. A bullet names HomeKit; a UK review denies full compatibility. Do not treat the E40 as confirmed Secure Video, and do not read no monthly fee as no iCloud+ if you also want Home’s encrypted timeline. Eve and Logitech listings say the plan is not in the box. If you bought Eve Cam at £126.05 or Circle View at £159.99 on the encrypted-clip line, budget £0.99, £2.99, or £8.99 a month on top, plus a hub if you do not own one. If you bought the E220 at £39.99 for the eufy app and a card you will add yourself, you can stay off iCloud+ until you activate HomeKit. Those are two bills, not one slogan.

Pick the plan for the number of cameras, then stop

Count only the Secure Video cameras you will add, not every gadget in Home. One Eve Cam pointed at a hallway: 50 GB at £0.99, one-camera cap. Eve Cam plus Circle View, or Eve Outdoor Cam on the front and Eve Cam inside: 200 GB at £2.99, five-camera cap. More than five exclusive Secure Video cameras: 2 TB at £8.99. Do not buy 2 TB only because you fear the clips will fill 50 GB; Apple says they will not. A driveway pair of Eve Outdoor Cam bodies is two cameras and one shared 593-review sample, not two tests, and it still counts as two towards the cap. The E40 does not sit on this cap unless you have a working Secure Video path, which this set does not treat as confirmed. Stop once the tier matches the count. For the order of hub and plan questions before you buy the body, use the HomeKit camera buying guide.

Common questions

Can you record Secure Video on the free 5 GB iCloud plan?
No. Apple’s Secure Video storage article ties recording to paid iCloud+ tiers. The free 5 GB plan is not a camera slot. Eve’s listings also say iCloud+ is required and not included.
How many cameras does each paid plan take?
50 GB takes one Secure Video camera. 200 GB takes up to five. 2 TB and above take unlimited. Those caps are Apple’s UK support figures, not the gigabyte tiles on the marketing page.
Does the 10-day timeline use up the 50 GB?
Apple says the video does not count towards your storage allowance. The 50 GB is still the tier that only allows one camera. You pay for the cap, not for clip size.
What happens on day 11?
The oldest clips drop off the 10-day window unless you saved one. Eve Cam’s quick-start note says clips are deleted after ten days unless you save one. There is no rolling archive on the basic Secure Video path.
If you already pay for 200 GB for photos, do you need a second plan?
No. The same 200 GB iCloud+ plan is the five-camera Secure Video tier. You still cannot add a sixth Secure Video camera on that plan. You do not pay twice for the same Apple Account.
Does the E220 still need iCloud+ if you put in a microSD card?
Not for eufy’s own app timeline. A card is not in the specification block, so you supply it. If you activate HomeKit and a HomePod is present, eufy’s guide says Home recording is stored in iCloud, which brings Apple’s camera cap back for that Home view.
Is the E40’s no-monthly-fee line the same as Secure Video?
No. The E40 bullets describe local storage on your devices. HomeKit is named and then denied as fully compatible in a UK review. Local HomeBase storage is not Eve’s 10-day encrypted timeline.
Does a HomePod or Apple TV still sit in front of the plan?
Yes. The hub analyses; iCloud+ keeps the 10 days. Eve’s listings name both, and neither is in the box. A plan without a hub does not give you away-from-home clips.
