A fingerprint door opener for your uPVC front door

Updated: 16 October 2026

A fingerprint door opener for a uPVC front door, among these eight amazon.co.uk listings, is the wrong purchase. The answer is no for a multipoint uPVC or composite door, because none of them is a euro-profile cylinder or a lift-lever handle. Products Compared checked the files on 15 October 2026. There was no laboratory test, and insurance acceptance is not claimed. The table of what the adverts actually are sits on the [fingerprint door opener](/hub/electronic-surveillance/fingerprint-door-opener) page. If you have not yet separated a lever from a cylinder, the [fingerprint door opener buying guide](/hub/electronic-surveillance/fingerprint-door-opener/sub/fingerprint-door-opener-buying-guide) does that without naming a front-door winner.

What a UK multipoint front door is locking with

A typical UK uPVC or composite front door locks through a multipoint gearbox in the edge. You lift the handle to drive the hooks, and a euro cylinder turns the mechanism. You measure the cylinder as two sides from the centre fixing screw, so a size such as 35/45 is two numbers. Duffells notes that a normal digital spindle often stops around horizontal, while a lift-lever gearbox needs more upward travel. That is a trade explainer, not a test of these ASINs. A tubular lever does not print a cylinder size and does not claim that extra lift. Those levers are described for internal doors on the best fingerprint door opener page.

Why the levers in this set are the wrong object

Yocdunm, TEKXDD, both DHEISHA listings, LXLRHH and Swokely are handle-and-latch sets. Their thickness bands sit between 30–55 mm and 35–60 mm. None prints a euro-cylinder size, a 92 mm cylinder-to-spindle distance, or a lift-lever spindle. DHEISHA’s bullets say the lock fits most US doors. Yocdunm’s indoor-and-outdoor line is not a multipoint claim and not an IP rating. Swokely’s protocol line says Wi-Fi. A radio does not change the lock body. These levers are £31.99 to £72.99. A motorised multipoint handle on one UK shop page was £228 including VAT. That is a different object, not a recommendation from this table. Which? tells you to check the insurer.

The bolt kit and Simpled, still not a cylinder

AccessShield’s F20, at £54.99, has no review line. It is a bolt kit for a wooden or iron door with a flush frame, not a uPVC gearbox. Simpled’s DWF-SP, at £279.99, also has no review line. The outside panel is weatherproof and the inside must stay dry. The dimensions are 30 × 45 × 180 mm, which is not a cylinder size such as 35/45. Which? did not review this ASIN, and it is not the Simpled LeverLine. There is no top pick for this door in the table.

The cylinder standard, and when you stop

This page does not give the cylinder swap. The how to fit a fingerprint door opener page already owns the stop for a proud cylinder, a mains spur and a multipoint gearbox. Secured by Design treats BS 3621 as a mortice standard, so asking these listings to be BS 3621 mistakes the test. None of the eight files prints TS 007, Sold Secure, BS 3621 or Secured by Design. Approved Document Q applies to new dwellings in England. It does not require every existing uPVC door to be upgraded this weekend. Stop here if the advert is a £40 lever and the door has hooks up the edge.

Common questions

Can you put a fingerprint lever from this set on a uPVC front door?
No. Yocdunm, TEKXDD, both DHEISHA listings, LXLRHH and Swokely replace handles and a latch on bands between 30–55 mm and 35–60 mm. A multipoint uPVC or composite door locks with a euro cylinder and a gearbox, and the handle often has to lift. None of those levers prints a cylinder size or a lift-lever spindle. Wi-Fi on Swokely does not change that body.
What does the door actually lock with, if the handle has to be lifted?
The lift throws the hooks through the multipoint gearbox. The euro cylinder is the part you can swap, measured as two sides from the centre fixing screw. A normal digital spindle that only travels to horizontal does not do the lift a gearbox expects. Duffells also notes a cylinder piercing about 92 mm from the spindle on common gearboxes. None of the eight listings prints that distance.
Does AccessShield’s electric bolt replace a multipoint lock?
No. The F20 kit is a bolt, a panel, a mains power supply, an exit switch and ten fobs, described for a single wooden or iron door with a flush frame. That is not a uPVC gearbox. There is no review line, no TS 007 claim and no millimetre band. A mains spur is a professional job. Waterproof in the special features is not an IP rating in the file.
Is Simpled a euro cylinder because it costs £279.99 and mentions weather?
No. DWF-SP is a double-sided lock at £279.99 with no review line and no thickness band. Only the outside panel is weatherproof. The inside must stay dry. The printed dimensions, 30 × 45 × 180 mm, are not a cylinder size. The price sits near Which?’s typical smart-lock band, and Which? did not review this ASIN. Do not borrow the LeverLine’s ratings.
What standard do the police name for a euro cylinder, and does any listing here print it?
West Yorkshire Police advice names TS 007 three-star or Sold Secure Diamond SS 312, fitted flush rather than proud of the handle. None of the eight amazon.co.uk files prints either certificate. BS 3621 is a mortice standard, so it is the wrong label to demand from these levers. Sold Secure pages for cylinders are about those cylinders, not about these handles.
Can you fit a cylinder yourself, and when is it proud?
You can fit one yourself if you have measured both sides from the centre screw and the cylinder will sit flush with the handle. It is proud when it sticks out past the handle, which is the mistake the police leaflet shows. This page does not walk through the swap. If you are unsure of the two lengths, use a locksmith rather than forcing a bedroom lever into the door.
