Outdoor dummy CCTV camera

Updated: 23 October 2026

You want a shell on a shed, a drive, a garden wall, or a caravan, and the search results are full of solar domes with IP66 in the title. An outdoor dummy CCTV camera in this comparison is still a battery housing. None of the twelve is the Maclean, Tech Traders, or JUSTOP solar listing that dominates that query. Prices are on the [dummy camera comparison](/hub/electronic-surveillance/dummy-camera). Peter F. updated this from the amazon.co.uk listings. There was no lab test.

Outdoor in this set means a battery shell

The outdoor search on amazon.co.uk is a solar search. A Maclean SOL1800S with an IP66 line, Tech Traders solar dummies, and a JUSTOP solar silver, B07B8PWFWV, are not in this twelve. Quoting another shop's weather line onto a BW bullet would invent a rating. What you can buy here is a plastic bullet or dome with a red LED and, usually, cells you supply. BW 1100B and BW-S89-BL put those cells under a removable rain shield. That shield is a cover in the bullets, not an IP test. Solar dummies exist on amazon.co.uk. They are not these ASINs. A printed code is not a certificate, and we did not spray any shell.

The weather words, listing by listing

Two tables print IP65: the BW 1100B and the WALI SDW-4. On WALI the table also says indoor, while the bullets say indoor and outdoor and 2 AA cells, not included. Shelter the dome. Do not treat that clash as a hose test. JUSTOP white prints IPX4. JUSTOP black prints IP44. DODUOS prints IP54 beside a corded-electric table line. BW2600's table says IP54. Those codes are listing claims, and they are not a reason to copy IP65 onto a JUSTOP. No IP code appears for Lylxienty, BUYGOO, the BW-S89-BL, the white BW dome, or either QWORK pack. Several still say waterproof or rainproof. If that is the only outdoor word, you have an adjective, not a grade you can compare with IP65.

What UK reviews say after rain

A BW 1100B review says the battery compartment rusts in wet weather and the light then stops. That is one UK review, not a soak test. Look at the contacts after rain. The QWORK silver pair says rainproof, and a review says there is no seal and doubts a downpour. The black four-pack uses the same wording, with no IP code and 14 reviews. The white BW dome has a review that says it is certainly not waterproof and needs shelter, against an indoor/outdoor title and 3.9 from 1,342 reviews. A rusty bay in week one is a returns conversation under the short-term right to reject, not a prompt to seal it with silicone. Heat, mostly on the JUSTOP twins, is a stop on the fitting page.

Shed, drive, and caravan

A bullet on the shed face, near the eaves and aimed at the path, is the shape people expect. A dome under the overhang stays drier. Screws into a thin panel need a backing. Fixing detail is on how to fit a dummy CCTV camera. About 3 metres is a publisher's figure, and a low shed may not have it. A single BW 1100B will not cover a gate and a side door. That is the WALI four-pack's job, with the indoor-versus-IP65 clash kept in mind. Stickers do not turn the drive into a filmed area. A caravan is one Lylxienty review: two bullets at about £14.99, 3.9 from 24 reviews, waterproof wording, no IP code, and a cell-size clash. No mains is why a dummy was chosen. It is not an IP rating.

Common questions

Can these dummy cameras stay outside?
Only as far as that listing's own words, and only with the reviews beside them. Some tables print an IP code. Some bullets say waterproof or rainproof and print no code. A UK review says the BW 1100B bay rusts when wet, another says a QWORK silver shell has no seal, and another says the white BW dome is not waterproof. Shelter is the cautious read when the words conflict.
What does IP65 on the listing mean?
On these pages it means the table for the BW 1100B or for WALI contains the characters IP65. It does not mean we tested either product, and it does not mean every dummy in the category carries that code. WALI's table also says indoor. Treat IP65 as a claim to read, then look at the bay after rain.
Is there a solar model in this comparison?
No. Solar dummies on amazon.co.uk, including listings with an IP66 line, are outside these twelve ASINs. Every shell here is a battery or batteries-not-stated dummy. If a panel is the reason you are shopping, this set will not supply it.
Will the battery bay cope with rain?
The BW bullets describe a bay under a removable rain shield. A BW 1100B review says that bay rusts in wet weather and the LED stops. QWORK's rainproof wording is disputed by a no-seal review. There is no result in this file that says a bay stayed dry for a winter. Check it, and take the cells out if you see corrosion.
What if the only outdoor word is waterproof?
Then you have BUYGOO or Lylxienty, or similar wording, and no IP code to quote. Waterproof is not IP65, and it is not the Maclean IP66 line from a different ASIN. Pair it with a review if one exists, and prefer a spot with a roof. If you need a stated code, choose a listing that prints one, and still do not treat that print as a certificate.
