Ryobi ONE+ combi drill: what to check before you buy

Updated: 2026-10-23

You are looking at five green Ryobi drills on amazon.co.uk, and the saved prices run from £54 to £97.80. A Ryobi ONE+ combi drill is not the same carton as a drill driver, and a body-only price is not a tool you can use tonight if the cupboard has no pack. This page, dated 22 October 2026, sorts those five saved listings by the title, the stated hammer mode, and whether brushless is actually printed. It is not a lab test. A qualifying Amazon purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. The full table is the [Ryobi cordless drill comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/ryobi-cordless-drill).

What you are actually choosing

These rows are all 18 V ONE+ tools with a chuck. It is not a promise that every green body will put a plug into brick. The R18PD3 kits and the R18PD3-0 percussion body are the combi side. The RPD18BL2-0 bullets name hammer in masonry, drill, and clutch settings for screws. The R18DD3-0 title is a compact drill driver. Its bullets do not state masonry. Ryobi UK's own guide treats a combi as the lighter mix of drill, screw and occasional hammer, and an SDS+ as the concrete tool. The R18SDS-0 is not one of these five ASINs. If the wall is ordinary brick and you only need plug holes, you want a listing that states percussion or a hammer mode. A masonry bit in a driver does not add a hammer.

Kit or body only

Box contents decide the bill before torque does. Three titles are bodies. The R18DD3-0 is saved at £54 and the R18PD3-0 at £55. The RPD18BL2-0 is £89.99 and the title says the battery and charger are excluded. A body-only price is the lower figure only when a ONE+ pack and a ONE+ charger are already in the house. Two titles are kits. The R18PD3-215GZ, saved at £97.80, lists two 1.5 Ah batteries, a ONE+ charger and a double-ended bit. A later view of that same ASIN showed £78.99. That is a shelf movement, not a second product. The R18PD3-113G is saved at £84.99 with one 1.3 Ah battery in the title. Its bullets name a charger. The included-components cell says only drill, so read the live line before you assume the charger is in the carton. Why a 5 Ah cell on a bare tool is not a pack in the box is on the Ryobi ONE+ battery for a drill page.

The one listing that states brushless

Only the RPD18BL2-0 states brushless. The listing prints 95 Nm and 2,100 rpm. The R18PD3 rows print 50 Nm and 1,800 rpm, and they do not say brushless. Toolstation lists that R18PD3 family as brushed. That is a retailer's description, not a sentence on these Amazon bullets, so do not correct the Amazon page into the word brushed. The absence of the word is the fact you can use. Both figures are listing lines, not a test, and neither turns a combi into an SDS+. The RPD18BL2-0 at £89.99 is the row when you want brushless printed and you already own a pack. Its file is 4.7 from 211, against 7,197 ratings on the two-pack kit. The wood cell prints 13 mm. Retailers for this model print about 54 mm. Keep the Amazon cell as the Amazon cell.

Cells that disagree with the title

Several technical cells contradict the title, and the title is the row to buy against. The R18DD3-0 is body only, yet cells list 5 Ah, 16 A and 600 W. The RPD18BL2-0 title excludes the battery, yet a capacity cell says 5 Ah. The R18PD3-0 title is body only, yet a capacity cell says 1.5 Ah. None of those cells puts a pack in the carton. Height cells of about 80 cm are not a credible tool height. The percussion body's drill-type cell says Basic Drill while the title says percussion. The two-pack kit's gearbox bullet prints 5001800rpm as one string. Read it as the 500 and 1,800 rpm the other R18PD3 rows spell out.

Common questions

Does a Ryobi drill come with a battery?
Only when the title says so. In this set the R18PD3-215GZ includes two 1.5 Ah packs and a charger, and the R18PD3-113G title includes one 1.3 Ah pack. The R18DD3-0, the R18PD3-0 and the RPD18BL2-0 are bodies. A capacity cell of 1.5 Ah or 5 Ah on those body pages is not a battery in the box.
Is the R18PD3 brushless?
Not on these Amazon listings. The R18PD3 rows print 50 Nm and do not state brushless. Only the RPD18BL2-0 states a brushless motor, at 95 Nm. A retailer's brushed label for the R18PD3 family is not the same as Amazon printing that word, so leave it as not stated on the Amazon row.
What is the difference between the R18DD3 and the R18PD3?
The R18DD3-0 title is a drill driver and does not state a hammer mode. The R18PD3 titles are combi or percussion tools, and the kits' bullets include masonry. Both families list 50 Nm, two speeds and 24 clutch settings. The split that matters for a brick wall is the hammer claim, not the colour.
Is a body-only price the cheaper way in?
It is cheaper only if you already own a ONE+ battery and a ONE+ charger. The R18DD3-0 at £54 and the R18PD3-0 at £55 are bodies. If you own nothing, the R18PD3-215GZ kit is the carton that includes packs, even though the saved price is £97.80. Adding a pack and a charger to a bare tool can pass that kit price.
Why does one listing say 95 Nm and the others 50 Nm?
Those are printed listing figures, not a test result. The RPD18BL2-0 states 95 Nm and brushless. The R18PD3 rows and the R18DD3-0 state 50 Nm and do not state brushless. A higher printed newton-metre does not make the brushless body an SDS+, and it does not put a battery in that box.
