HiKOKI cordless drill buying guide

Updated: 2026-10-23

You are about to pay for one of seven HiKOKI drill listings on amazon.co.uk, and the saved shelf prices run from £66.71 to £359.99. A 55 Nm drill driver, a short 70 Nm combi, a 140 Nm combi and a 36 V body are not the same tool, so the job and the carton have to come before the price. This page uses the included-components lines and the HiKOKI catalogue figures, checked on 22 October 2026. It is not a lab test. Prices and star lines sit on the [Hikoki cordless drill comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/hikoki-cordless-drill). A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Drill driver, short combi, or 36 V combi

Flat-pack and light steel sit on the DS18DD: 55 Nm hard, 36 mm in wood and 13 mm in steel, with no brick row. The bodies are the DS18DDW4Z at £66.71 and the DS18DDQW2Z at £99.50. Neither states a hammer. A short combi is the DV18DE inside KC18DEJAZ at £299.99, drill bullet 70 Nm. The heavier DV18DC is inside the two KC18DC kits, catalogued at 20 mm in brick and 140 Nm hard. The DV36DCW2Z at £209.99 is 22 mm and 155 Nm hard, not a rotary hammer.

What the suffix puts in the carton

W4Z and W2Z are body only even when a case is named. JRZ and JAZ name batteries and a charger. The DS18DDQJRZ at £278.95 lists two BSL1820M packs, a UC18YFSL and the angle adapter. The KC18 twin packs list two BSL36A18 packs and a UC18YSL3. Do not copy a catalogue code of BSL120M over the listing, which names BSL1820M. A body under £100 is cheaper only if a pack and a charger are already yours. The cartons are lined up on the HiKOKI drill body only or kit page.

Which torque belongs to which tool

On a twin pack the table torque is often the other tool. KC18DEJAZ prints 175 Nm for the impact driver beside a drill bullet of 70 Nm. KC18DCJAZ prints 210 Nm for the impact driver beside a combi bullet of 140 Nm. KC18DCJCZ prints 600 Nm for the wrench beside a combi bullet of 140 Nm. The DS18DDQJRZ table also prints 55 Newton millimetres. On the DV36DCW2Z, 33,000/min is the impact rate, not the chuck.

Packs you already own

UK dealers say existing Hitachi 18 V slide packs fit current 18 V tools, with exclusions. A BSL36A18 is 36 V 2.5 Ah or 18 V 5.0 Ah. On a DV36DC use 2.5 Ah. A BSL1820M does not run a DV36DC, and pre-Multi-Volt packs are a different rail. Whether the extra brick is worth that pack is the HiKOKI 18V or 36V drill comparison. The charger needs a UK 3-pin plug.

Common questions

Do I need a hammer for flat-pack and light steel?
No. The DS18DD class has no hammer row, and HiKOKI lists 36 mm in wood and 13 mm in steel at 55 Nm hard. A hammer matters when the hole is in brick. Light brick here is the DV18DE at 70 Nm on the drill bullet. Heavier brick is the DV18DC at 20 mm, or the DV36DC at 22 mm. Repeated structural concrete is a rotary hammer.
What do W4Z, W2Z, JRZ and JAZ mean?
W4Z and W2Z on these listings are body only, even if a case is in the box. The DS18DDQW2Z and the DV36DCW2Z add a case and still omit the pack and the charger. JRZ and JAZ name batteries and a charger. The DS18DDQJRZ names two BSL1820M packs and a UC18YFSL. The three KC18 kits name two BSL36A18 packs and a UC18YSL3.
Will my old Hitachi 18 V slide packs run a current 18 V HiKOKI drill?
UK dealers say existing Hitachi 18 V slide packs fit current 18 V tools, with exclusions on the battery sheet. On the DS18DDW4Z, reviewers report that older packs fitted, including a stated BSL1840. A BSL1820M does not run the DV36DC. Check the pack code against the sheet before you buy a body with nothing in the carton.
Why does a twin pack print 175 Nm, 210 Nm or 600 Nm?
The table has kept the other tool's figure. On KC18DEJAZ the 175 Nm is the impact driver and the drill bullet is 70 Nm. On KC18DCJAZ the 210 Nm is the impact driver and the combi bullet is 140 Nm. On KC18DCJCZ the 600 Nm is the wrench and the combi bullet is 140 Nm. The chuck torque is the lower number in each pair.
Is the £99.50 DS18DDQ the one with the angle head?
No. That listing includes an HSC II case and excludes the battery, the charger and the angle head. The angle adapter is named on the DS18DDQJRZ at £278.95. The £99.50 page also prints Manufacturer: Metabo. Brand and model remain HiKOKI DS18DDQW2Z.
Can I use one of these drills for repeated holes in structural concrete?
No. These are drill drivers and combi drills. BS EN 62841-2-1 does not cover rotary hammers. The largest brick figure used here is 22 mm on the DV36DC. If the holes are repeated, deep or reinforced, use a rotary hammer. A higher Nm cell on a twin-pack table does not change that.
Where are the seven prices and star lines?
On the main comparison. The saved shelf prices are £66.71, £99.50, £209.99, £278.95, £299.99, £357.00 and £359.99. Star lines exist for four of them: 4.6 from 177, 3.6 from 3, 4.3 from 10, and 5.0 from 2. Three kits have no star line. Prices move, so open the live listing before you pay.
