HiKOKI drill body only or kit

Updated: 2026-10-23

The £66.71 price is the one that looks finished, and it is a bare tool. A HiKOKI drill body only or kit decision is whether a compatible pack and a charger are already on your shelf, or whether the carton has to start the platform. Box contents are the amazon.co.uk included-components lines for the seven kept listings, checked on 22 October 2026. It is not a lab test. Prices and star lines live on the [Hikoki cordless drill comparison](/hub/drilling-and-accessories/hikoki-cordless-drill). A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What body only means on these listings

Body only means no battery and no charger. A case can still be in the carton, and a photo of a battery is not proof it is included. W4Z and W2Z are body only even when a case is named. JRZ and JAZ name batteries and a charger. The DS18DDW4Z at £66.71 says without battery, charger and transport case. A body under £100 is the cheaper buy only if a slide pack and a charger are already yours. Do not invent a separate battery price. A dealer price of £227.70 is not the comparison price. The shelf figure for the kit here remains £278.95.

The three bodies

The DS18DDW4Z is £66.71 and 4.6 from 177 ratings, and the carton is the drill body only. The DS18DDQW2Z is £99.50 and 3.6 from 3 ratings. It includes an HSC II case, not a battery, a charger or an angle head. One reviewer returned it because those accessories were missing, and the manufacturer field prints Metabo. Brand and model remain HiKOKI. The DV36DCW2Z is £209.99 and 4.3 from 10 ratings. It includes a side handle and a case, and no battery. An 18 V-only pack does not finish that 36 V body.

The four kits

The DS18DDQJRZ at £278.95 has no star line. It includes two BSL1820M packs, a UC18YFSL, the angle adapter and a case, and no hammer. Those packs do not run a DV36DC. KC18DEJAZ at £299.99 includes a short combi, an impact driver, two BSL36A18 packs and a UC18YSL3. The table's 175 Nm is the impact driver. Printed 5.0 Ah is the 18 V reading. At 36 V the same pack is 2.5 Ah, which is the HiKOKI 18V or 36V drill page. KC18DCJCZ at £357.00 adds a wrench, and 600 Nm is that wrench. KC18DCJAZ at £359.99 adds an impact driver, and 210 Nm is that driver. Every charger still needs a UK 3-pin plug.

Warranty line and the retailer

Manufacturer. in the warranty cell is not the term. HiKOKI's UK terms of 25 August 2025 give one year as the base, three years on packs and chargers without registration, and three years on the machine only if you register within four weeks. If the carton is wrong, the 30-day right to reject sits with the retailer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 22. Buy a body only if the pack and charger are already yours. Buy a kit if you have no packs, or if you need the angle head that only the DS18DDQJRZ includes. Hammer and voltage go back to the HiKOKI cordless drill buying guide.

Common questions

Does body only still include a case?
Sometimes. The £66.71 DS18DDW4Z includes neither a case nor a battery. The £99.50 DS18DDQW2Z includes an HSC II case and no battery. The £209.99 DV36DCW2Z includes a side handle and a case, and still no battery. A case does not make a W2Z or W4Z into a kit.
Is the £66.71 DS18DDW4Z usable on its own?
Only if you already have a compatible 18 V slide pack and a charger. The included-components line says without battery, charger and transport case. Without those packs it is a tool you cannot charge. The kit that names packs for this class is the DS18DDQJRZ at £278.95.
Does the £99.50 DS18DDQ include the angle head?
No. The bullets list the angled attachment as a special accessory. The carton is the body and an HSC II case. The angle adapter is named on the DS18DDQJRZ at £278.95. The manufacturer field says Metabo, and the brand line is still HiKOKI.
Which of the seven listings name a battery and a charger?
Four. The DS18DDQJRZ names two BSL1820M packs and a UC18YFSL. KC18DEJAZ, KC18DCJCZ and KC18DCJAZ each name two BSL36A18 packs and a UC18YSL3. The DS18DDW4Z, the DS18DDQW2Z and the DV36DCW2Z do not. A photo is not a substitute for that included-components line.
Are two 2.0 Ah packs the same start as two Multi Volt packs?
No. The £278.95 kit's BSL1820M packs are 18 V packs, and they do not run a DV36DC. The three KC18 kits include BSL36A18 packs. Printed as 5.0 Ah, that is the 18 V reading. At 36 V the same pack is 2.5 Ah.
What does Manufacturer. in the warranty cell mean?
It means the listing has not printed the term. HiKOKI's UK terms of 25 August 2025 are one year base, three years on packs and chargers without registration, and three years on the machine only if you register within four weeks. Hi5 is a further 28-day registration for brushless 18 V and 36 V tools and for Multi Volt packs.
How do I send a kit back if the carton is wrong?
Through the retailer. The Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 22, is the 30-day right to reject, and it sits with the seller, not with the warranty cell. Compare the box with the included-components line. Registration for the longer machine warranty, within four weeks, does not replace that 30-day right.
