Patio door security lock for sliders and French doors

Updated: October 2026

A patio door security lock is a different object from the pole under a front-door handle. Sliding panels travel on a track, and some can be lifted off it. Hinged French doors turn on handles, often a horizontal pair. You want the extra that matches the door, used from the inside, beside a multipoint that already throws. Prices are in the [door security comparison](/hub/door-and-window-security/door-security). Hotel latches and mortice bolts are the wrong aisle for this door. Peter F. used the amazon.co.uk listings and public UK notes in October 2026. There was no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Sliding doors and French doors fail in different ways

If one panel slides, a clamp for two lever handles has nothing honest to grab. Shop notes on UK patio doors treat the latch, the track and anti-lift blocks as separate jobs. That block is not one of the twelve listings here. A bar in the bottom track can stop the panel travelling. These notes do not show it stopping a lift. Two horizontal handles match a clamp, used from inside after the doors are already locked. Outward-opening French doors need hinge security, not a floor brace. A white AceMining bar whose listing says sliding can still be awkward in a narrow track. That line is not a measured fit.

A clamp for two horizontal handles

hzuisst, model WH-KN6168-2, is about £19.99, with 4.7 from 444 reviews. You snap it over two closed horizontal handles and press a button. There is no key, and curved or vertical handles are out. One reviewer held the doors when the main lock had failed. That is a backup for a bad night, not a break-in test. Clamping one handle up and one down means the door is not locked. Lifting the clamp off is the exit. If broken glass would let a hand do that, the clamp is a weak last line. Skip it for a single sliding panel.

A bar in the track, and sash jammers on the frame

LuLobtg is the bar whose UK reviews talk about patio doors. It is about £12.99, up to 55 inches, 4.4 from 32 reviews. People say it holds a door open against a breeze. One reviewer doubts a modest push. A breeze is not a security result. Amazon Basics at about £19.94 has a removable sliding head and adjusts 73.6-114 cm. UK reviews mention joints coming apart and slip on tile. AceMining and DHSWNNG also say sliding, without a UK patio theme in the product notes. Sandiyago's four jammers, about £8.99, are the best value extra when a real lock works and you may drill. One buyer fitted only two because the spacers ran out. Screw positions are in how to fit a door security bar.

What these extras leave undone

On uPVC, the sources used here point to a TS 007 cylinder inside a multipoint that throws. A clamp and a track bar do not change that cylinder. The National Protective Security Authority notes that chains and limiters do little against a forced push. Anti-lift screws in the top track are a separate job. Call a locksmith if the frame moves or the multipoint will not throw. PAS 24 and Approved Document Q do not transfer to the clamp because another brand carries a Secured by Design logo. hzuisst's notes do not show that logo. Lock the multipoint anyway.

Common questions

Will a handle clamp fit a sliding patio door?
hzuisst is for two horizontal handles on hinged French, patio or conservatory doors. A single sliding panel does not give you that pair. Sliders in the UK shop guides need a track device. Match the listing photo to your handles before you order. Vertical and curved handles are out.
What in this set goes in a sliding track?
LuLobtg, if you accept UK reviews about a breeze and a light tube, at about £12.99. Amazon Basics, if you remove the head and check the joints, using 73.6-114 cm as the length that is clearly printed. AceMining's sliding line is a listing claim without a patio review theme in the product notes.
Are four sash jammers enough on uPVC patio doors?
They are a screwed extra at about £8.99, and only if the arm meets the frame and the screws bite. One buyer could not use all four because the spacers ran out. They sit beside the multipoint. They are not the anti-lift device and not the cylinder.
Can I use a front-door floor bar on French doors?
When the doors open inward, a handle takes the fork, and the foot sits on a firm floor. Outward French doors need hinge security, not that pole. A pair of horizontal handles matches the hzuisst clamp more closely than a hall bar.
Does the clamp replace an anti-snap cylinder?
No. TS 007 is the cylinder point on uPVC in the locksmith sources for this category. The clamp holds handles from inside after the doors are shut. If the lock does not throw, repair that first. One hzuisst reviewer managed a night when the main lock had failed, which is a stopgap.
What if the glass is broken?
A hand inside can lift a clamp, a track bar or a sash arm. Reviewers like that the white clamp is visible from outside. Visibility is not a barrier once the pane is gone. Laminated glass and a working multipoint are outside this basket.
