DOM cylinder vs TS 007: when Diamant is the wrong answer

Updated: October 2026

You have a uPVC or composite street door, someone has said the cylinder can be snapped, and a DOM title at about £431.56 to £498.49 looks like the serious option. DOM cylinder vs TS 007 is that choice. A TS 007 3-star cylinder, or Sold Secure SS312, is the answer when the job is snap resistance. A DOM Diamant cylinder from this set is the answer when the job is the disc key, and the listing does not claim the star. The three prices are on the [DOM lock cylinder comparison](/hub/door-and-window-security/dom-lock-cylinder). Peter F. checked the UK listings in October 2026. This is not a lab test. What TS 007 asks for

TS 007 is the UK specification police forces cite for euro cylinders on street doors. West Yorkshire Police describe a 3-star cylinder as their preferred upgrade, or a 1-star cylinder with a 2-star handle. Sold Secure SS312 is certified separately. The same page says the cylinder must not stand proud, because a projecting barrel is what a snapping tool grips. A Carlisle Brass note lists drilling, snapping, plug extraction, picking, and bumping. That is the buyer-facing point, not a reason to treat every heavy cylinder as tested. Approved Document Q applies to new dwellings in England, not as a retrofit order. An insurer can still name TS 007 or SS312. One West Yorkshire Police leaflet put euro-cylinder burglary at about 20 to 25 percent of burglaries in that force area. That figure is for that force, not a UK market size.

What the Diamant listings show

The three listings are DOM Diamant euro cylinders at about £431.56, about £451.89 and about £498.49. The security-mark field on each is empty. None states TS 007 or Sold Secure. DOM marks anti-snap as No and publishes EN 1303:2015 code 160B0C6D. That is the manufacturer's line, not an inference from the price. On Hoppe's UK explainer, attack grade D covers drilling, chisel, twisting and extraction. Key-security grade 6 is the top differs grade. Those digits are not a TS 007 star. Diamond in the titles is Diamant, not Sold Secure Diamond. Cut resistant on the about £498.49 listing is a feature line, not a star. The checks before you pay are on the DOM lock cylinder buying guide.

When to pick which

Choose a current TS 007 3-star cylinder, or SS312, when the job is snap resistance. A barrel that sticks out past the handle wastes the upgrade. The limit people use is flush, or within about 3 mm. Choose a Diamant listing here when the split and the cam match and the reason is the disc key. The polished 30/30 at about £431.56 is the best value. The brass 30/40 at about £451.89 is the top pick. The nickel 30/30 does not add a star by costing more. None of them is the pick when the requirement is the star. AC Leigh lists rs Sirius as the 3-star DOM cylinder. The families are on DOM Diamant or ix Twido.

The star and the disc key are different jobs

Use TS 007 or SS312 when the street door needs snap resistance. Use a Diamant listing from this set when the measured euro split and the cam match, and you accept anti-snap marked No. The top pick and the best value in the set do not print a star. Adding a Diamant parcel and calling it the police upgrade does not make it one.

Common questions

Is DOM Diamant a 3-star cylinder?
Not on the evidence in this set. DOM's Diamant table marks anti-snap as No, and the three listings do not print TS 007. The brand and EN 1303 code 160B0C6D do not substitute for a current certificate. If a dealer offers a DOM cylinder that does carry TS 007, ask which family. A UK stockist points at rs Sirius, not at these listings.
What does anti-snap No mean on DOM's own table?
It means DOM does not claim anti-snap protection for that Diamant double cylinder. The table is the manufacturer's product data, published with the EN 1303 code. You can still buy Diamant for the disc mechanism and the security card. Do not describe that purchase as the snap-resistant upgrade West Yorkshire Police describe.
Is EN 1303 attack grade D the same as TS 007?
No. Attack grade D is the top attack grade inside BS EN 1303, covering drilling, chisel, twisting and extraction. TS 007 is the separate UK specification police cite for snapping. Key-security grade 6 is not a UK star either. A serious EN 1303 code can still be the wrong product when the requirement is written as 3-star.
Can a 1-star cylinder plus a 2-star handle be enough?
West Yorkshire Police name that pair as the other route beside a 3-star cylinder. It is enough when the guidance or the policy you are following accepts it, and when both pieces are the rated ones, not a 1-star cylinder under a plain handle. These DOM listings do not show a 1-star mark either. Adding an ordinary handle to a Diamant cylinder does not complete that pair.
If I still want DOM, which family does a UK stockist mark as 3-star?
AC Leigh's DOM table marks rs Sirius as TS 007 3-star and marks ix Twido as not 3-star. Diamant in this amazon set is a third name, with anti-snap marked No by DOM. rs Sirius is not an ASIN here, so there is no GBP price for it on this page. A dealer can supply that family against a measured door. Buying one of the three Diamant listings does not become that row because the brand matches.
