Toilet drain blaster

Updated: 23 October 2026

The bowl has not gone down since last night, and you are deciding whether an air gun is worth a try. A toilet drain blaster only helps when a large cup seals the gulley and the water in the pan is not a chemical. A flat sink cup rocks, and the bowl goes across the floor. The Rothenberger in this amazon.co.uk set is not the tool for that job. Prices are GBP from the saved listings, captured on 21 October 2026. This is not a lab test. The cup has to seal the gulley

A basin waste is a flat hole. A UK pan is a gulley, and the rubber has to fill that curve or the air escapes up the bowl. A rocking end becomes spray if you pump more. Approved Document H gives a WC outlet of 75 mm or 100 mm. That is drainage guidance, not a tool certificate. Scotland and Northern Ireland use their own rules. A 6.3 cm XREXS cup is stated for a sink or bath. The 15 cm cup is the one that listing points at a toilet. If a small pour will not sit, do not add a flush on a bowl that is already full. The modest charge is in how to use a drain blaster.

What in this set is even for a toilet

The RoPump 71991, at about £21.92, lists sinks, urinals, showers, and bathtubs. A WC is not among them. Super Plus, article 072070X, is the pump sold with WC adaptor 72071. That article is not this ASIN. The XREXS, at about £12.34, states a 15 cm cup for toilets, squats, and urinals. UK reviews include repeated clears and one awkward fit, with the bowl contents drawn upward. It is a stroked plunger. If you wanted a stored charge, this cup is not that mechanism. Several stored-air guns name a toilet. Naming is not a seal. Lichll's 20.5 cm sucker sits behind eight UK texts. JJX cups from 5 cm to 11.5 cm are small for a 75 mm outlet, and 1ABOVE's reviews include a square pan the rubber would not seal.

Splash is the failure mode

Water crossed the room on the LSDZHK when the cover was off. 1ABOVE would not seal a square toilet. One inShareplus attempt splashed sewage. HzNzYHD reviews say stand back if the bowl is over half full. That line is one reviewer's caution, not a measured safe level. If the bowl is full to the rim, do not add a flush. Bail first if you are going to try a seal at all. Wear gloves and eye protection. If the water is already a chemical, do not bail it with bare hands and do not fire into it. Seat the cup dry. If it rocks, stop.

Paper can move. Wipes and a stack do not

Thames Water's rule for the WC is pee, poo, and toilet paper. Wipes, including those sold as flushable, nappies, and period products go in the bin. A gun can shift paper sitting in the gulley. One HzNzYHD review describes baby wipes cleared in two blasts. That is one household, not a method for breaking wipes up. If the pan blocks again the next day, stop and say what was flushed. If a neighbour's toilet is slow, or sewage returns elsewhere, report it. Citizens Advice treats a shared lateral as the company's.

Common questions

Will an air gun clear a UK toilet?
It can, when the large cup seals the gulley and the blockage is soft waste such as paper. UK reviews on the XMPEKO and the HzNzYHD include toilet clears, often on a second or later attempt. It will not, when the cup rocks, the pan is square, or the bowl holds chemical. A missed seal is splash, not a stronger shot.
Can I use the RoPump on the pan?
No. The 71991 listing does not include a WC among the outlets. It is a suction-pressure pump for sinks, showers, and baths. The long WC adaptor belongs to Rothenberger Super Plus 072070X, which is not in this set. A red colour on a forum pump is not this ASIN.
What if the pan is square or the cup rocks?
Stop before you charge it. 1ABOVE's UK reviews say the rubber would not seal a square toilet or the bowl. Seat the cup dry. If it rocks, a pump count of 12 or 15 only blows air past the rim. Another adaptor from the same box may be no rounder.
How do I avoid covering the room?
Bail a bowl that is full to the rim, close the lid as far as the gun allows, and use the splash cover if the box has one. LSDZHK reviewers describe water across the room when that cover is off. HzNzYHD reviewers say the gun is short, so stand back if the bowl is over half full. If the first shot sprays, the seal has already failed.
I flushed wipes. Will a blast break them up?
Do not count on it. Thames Water says wipes go in the bin, including flushable ones, and one review of baby wipes moving is not a method. A blast may open a paper blockage and leave a wipe mass you cannot see. If the pan blocks again the next day, stop and say what was flushed. A shared problem is a report to the water company.
Is a 15 cm cup the same as a flange plunger?
No. A flange plunger is shaped for the gulley. The XREXS 15 cm cup is a large suction cup you stroke, and one UK review found the toilet fit awkward. A 15 cm diameter can cover a pan and still fail to fill the curve. It is closer to the job than a 6 cm sink cup, and it is not a flange.
