What card weight these tools are sold for

Cardstock here means greetings-card paper, not box board and not tissue. Copier paper is often about 80 gsm. Greetings card is often about 160–300 gsm. Those are rules of thumb. Gsm is grams per square metre. A 2 mm limit is thickness, not the same number. US 65 lb cardstock pages are not evidence for these listings. Vaessen, outside this set, states 90–250 gsm. Several tools here print neither gsm nor millimetres. A 10 cm window is a rotary job if the range includes 10 cm. An 8/15/25 mm pack will never open it. Family choice is on circle punch vs circle cutter.

What the listings in this comparison actually say

Rayher 89770000 is the only long gsm story, and it is not one story. The amazon bullets say paper from 130 g/m², card to 250 gsm, and chipboard to 600 g/m², plus thin foam, cork, felt and thin fabric. Rayher’s own page says paper from 110 gsm and not for fabric. Do not average 110 and 130. Quote the line you rely on. MOLENCO says paper under 2 mm, one sheet, not fabric or plastic. Flhlxzm says up to 2.5 mm. One four-pack names card and EVA, excludes tissue and film, and sets sheet count to 1. One rotary tool cannot start below about 4 inches. Another says thin cardstock from 8 cm. A £6.99 listing says keep it off heavy cardboard. Ezydka, the NT extract and the UCEC 2 inch punch print no gsm. Do not invent a 250 gsm line for them.

Where reviews disagree with the bullets

Ezydka has no gsm and still collects UK notes about cardstock and scrapbook paper, plus a stiff press. That is not a hidden 250 gsm approval. One MOLENCO review cut thick card. Another measured the middle punch at 16 mm. Thickness and size are different complaints. Flhlxzm has a 160 gsm note, and another review says the 25 mm punch sticks. Rayher card can be clean after practice. A second pass is common, and a loose lock cuts a spiral. UCEC 2 inch circle-matching reviews cut paper and card and fail on laminate, foil and tissue. NT reviewers say thin paper tears and light card can work once the setup is learned. Two ratings cannot carry a cardstock recommendation. If a named material will not cut, Consumer Rights Act 2015 section 11 is the description rule.

Which tool to use for a greetings card

For a repeated small circle on 160 gsm card near the edge, start with a punch that has met card in a review. Ezydka’s 207 reviews talk about cardstock and stiffness. Flhlxzm’s 160 gsm note is thin. Do not buy those packs for a 10 cm aperture. For a changing diameter under 15 cm, start with Rayher and stay inside the amazon 250 gsm line, or the maker’s from 110 gsm line. Quote one, not an average. A pin marks the centre. That compass is the top pick for an adjustable card circle here. If the face must stay clean, NT reviews describe pin-free cuts on light card, with no gsm on the extract. That beam is the best value when a blank middle matters more than a printed weight. Stop on laminate, foil, tissue, a circle under the tool’s floor, or thick board.

Common questions

Will a circle punch cut greetings card, or only copier paper?
Some will, if the listing or a matching review says so. Ezydka reviews mention cardstock. Flhlxzm has a 160 gsm note. MOLENCO claims card-stock under 2 mm. One 8/15/25 mm pack prints no limit. A punch that only names paper crafts is unproven on 250 gsm.
What does 250 gsm mean next to a 2 mm limit?
They are different measurements. Gsm is weight per area. Two millimetres is thickness. Soft foam can be 2 mm and still be easier than 300 gsm card. Do not convert one into the other.
Can the Rayher cutter cut chipboard, or only card?
The amazon bullets claim chipboard up to 600 g/m² and card up to 250 gsm. Rayher’s own page starts at 110 gsm and forbids fabric. Those are listing and maker sentences, not a lab result. A second pass on card is common in reviews.
Why does thin paper bunch or tear when card cuts cleanly?
Thin sheet moves under the pin or the blade. NT reviews report tears on thin paper. Rayher notes say hold the sheet down. Copier paper at about 80 gsm is a poor first test if the real job is 200 gsm card.
Is a three-pack of 8/15/25 mm punches the right tool for a 10 cm card window?
No. Those dies are about 1 inch at the largest. A 10 cm window needs a rotary cutter whose range includes 10 cm, such as Rayher’s 2.6–15 cm claim.
What can I do if the tool will not cut the card the listing named?
Goods must match the description under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 11. That is the legal hook if a named material will not cut. It is not a step-by-step complaints letter.
