Nibbler attachment comparison 2026

The best nibbler attachments, compared.

Top pick: Double Head Metal Nibbler Cutter, 360° Nibbler Drill Attachment – Highest score in this set, 92, from a printed 1.6 mm carbon-steel table, a 12 mm curve claim, a spare punch and a step drill, on five reviews. Best value: Metal Nibbler Cutter Double Headed Sheet Metal Cutter, Power Drill Attachment – Score 86 at about £23.16, the cheapest punch-and-die kit that still prints a steel and stainless millimetre, with 4.3 from 77 reviews. Updated October 2026.

A nibbler attachment is a chuck-mounted cutter for a drill you already own. Listings on amazon.co.uk mix two mechanisms under that name. Sealey specifies that type at 1.6 mm steel, 1.2 mm stainless and 2 mm copper, brass or plastic, at no more than 3,000 rpm. You judge the tool by the mechanism, the millimetres for your metal, and a spare punch and die, not by the word nibbler in the title. The [nibbler attachment buying guide](/hub/cutting-tools/nibbler-attachment/sub/nibbler-attachment-buying-guide) sets that order before you match a drill and a sheet. A nibbler attachment has no motor of its own. A punch-and-die head bites a crescent out of the sheet. That leaves a real kerf and a flatter edge than snips on a curve, and it is weaker on a long freehand straight.

The best nibbler attachments in detail

Double Head Metal Nibbler Cutter, 360° Nibbler Drill Attachment

Rank 1

Double Head Metal Nibbler Cutter, 360° Nibbler…

∼£28

Our view

The Axelrivet double-head punch nibbler is listed at £27.99 for 1.6 mm carbon steel, 1.2 mm stainless, and 2.0 mm copper, aluminium, plastic and wood, with a claimed 12 mm curve and a 1,500–3,000 rpm band. Across 5 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 4.6, the highest star line and the highest score in this set, on a file too small to treat as durability evidence. The listing also says up to 14 gauge, which is a different thickness from 1.6 mm on UK tables, so the millimetre is the figure to plan around. The box is the most complete here: replacement punch and die, a replacement blade, a 4–12 mm step drill, a plastic handle and a metal tool box, at 1,000 g. Household metal roofing is named in marketing with no corrugated exclusion and no test. In this set it is the top pick when you want the printed 1.6 mm table and the spare punch on day one, and you accept five ratings. Leave it if you need a large UK review file, or if the sheet is thicker than 1.6 mm mild steel.

Pros

  • Printed 1.6 mm carbon steel, 1.2 mm stainless, and a 12 mm curve claim
  • Spare punch and die, replacement blade, 4–12 mm step drill, handle and metal box
  • 4.6 is the highest star line in this set, at £27.99

Cons

  • Only 5 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • The 14-gauge slogan disagrees with 1.6 mm
  • Household roofing is named without a corrugated test

Best for: A first punch-kit buy when the millimetre table and a spare punch have to be in the carton, and five ratings are acceptable.

Less suitable: Anyone who needs hundreds of UK reviews before they cut a van panel, or sheet thicker than 1.6 mm mild steel.

Common questions

What thickness does this listing state?

The amazon.co.uk listing states 1.6 mm carbon steel, and it also says up to 14 gauge, which is a different thickness. Stainless is 1.2 mm. Copper, aluminium, plastic and wood are 2.0 mm.

Will it cut profiled roofing sheet?

Household metal roofing is named in marketing. There is no corrugated exclusion, and no test.

What drill does it need?

It is drill-driven and has no mains plug of its own. The stated band is 1,500–3,000 rpm.

VEVOR Double Head Sheet Metal Nibbler Cutter, 360 Degree Drill Attachment

Rank 2

VEVOR Double Head Sheet Metal Nibbler Cutter, 360…

∼£29

Our view

The VEVOR YT-160AS double-head punch nibbler is listed at £29.00 for 1.6 mm carbon steel maximum, a figure a reviewer repeats, and 1.2 mm stainless, with a claimed 12 mm radius and 1,500–3,000 rpm. Across 535 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 4.4, the largest sample in this category. English reviews describe van windows, sharp crescents, and a learning curve. The listing note says it is not suitable for corrugated steel, which is the honest limit, not a hidden extra. A spare punch and die, a 4–12 mm step drill and a plastic handle are in the kit; reviews mention a metal case that the included-components line does not name. At 998 g it is the punch kit with a review file you can actually read. Choose it when you want the same 1.6 mm band as the top pick and hundreds of ratings. Skip corrugated roofing and over-thick stainless.

Pros

  • 4.4 from 535 amazon.co.uk reviews, the largest file here
  • Printed 1.6 mm carbon steel and 1.2 mm stainless, with a 12 mm radius claim
  • Spare punch and die, step drill and handle in the kit
  • Listing states it is not for corrugated steel

Cons

  • Not suitable for corrugated steel, per the listing
  • Sharp crescents and a learning curve in the English reviews
  • The case is mentioned in reviews, not in the included-components line

Best for: Curves or van-style openings in mild steel within 1.6 mm when you want a large review file and a spare punch.

Less suitable: Corrugated roofing, stainless thicker than 1.2 mm, or a first cut on a finished panel with no scrap.

Metal Nibbler Cutter Double Headed Sheet Metal Cutter, Power Drill Attachment

Rank 3

Metal Nibbler Cutter Double Headed Sheet Metal…

∼£23

Our view

The Fafeicy double-head punch-and-die nibbler is listed at £23.16 for about 1.8 mm steel plate, 1.2 mm stainless, and about 2 mm copper, aluminium, plastic or fibreboard. Across 77 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 4.3, the cheapest punch-style kit in this set. Reviewers report a battery drill still cutting when it ran slower than the advised speed, which is one report, not a specification. One review reports metal sheet cladding; the listing does not say corrugated. A missing guide bar shows up as a complaint, and there is no spare punch, step drill or case in the comparison fields. Sharp crescents are the cut, not a fault. In this set it is the best value when you want a punch mechanism under £25 and will add a start hole yourself. Skip it if you need a spare punch in the box or a stated 12 mm radius.

Pros

  • Punch-and-die head at £23.16, the lowest punch-kit price here
  • Prints about ≤1.8 mm steel and ≤1.2 mm stainless
  • 4.3 from 77 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • A battery drill slower than the advised speed still cut, in one review

Cons

  • No spare punch, step drill or case in the comparison fields
  • A missing guide bar is a review complaint
  • Listing does not claim corrugated sheet

Best for: Curves or an internal cut in thin mild steel when you already have a step drill and will practise on scrap.

Less suitable: Buyers who need a spare punch in the box, a printed 12 mm radius, or a roofing tool.

FUJIWARA Double Head Sheet Nibbler Metal Cutter, 8-piece drill attachment kit

Rank 4

FUJIWARA Double Head Sheet Nibbler Metal Cutter,…

∼£32

Our view

The FUJIWARA double-head punch kit is listed at £31.99 as an 8-piece set in an iron tool box, with a capacity line of up to 2 mm or 14 gauge, two figures that only roughly agree. Across 158 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 4.2. English reviews mention campers, ducting, steering, 0.7 mm roofing sheet, and profiled roofing; one buyer was missing a guide arm. Marketing lists corrugated material, pipes and profiles; individual reviews vary, and there is no separate stainless millimetre. Extra nibbler parts are in the title; a step drill is not stated. Sharp crescents and a wandering freehand line are the usual punch-kit pattern. At 1,000 g it is the dearest row here. It is a candidate when you want more review history on van-style panels than Axelrivet’s five ratings, and you will not treat 2 mm as a stainless rating. Skip it if you need a printed 1.2 mm stainless figure or a listed step drill.

Pros

  • 4.2 from 158 amazon.co.uk reviews, including camper and ducting work
  • Extra nibbler parts and an iron tool box in the title
  • Punch-and-die double head, not a gear shear

Cons

  • 2 mm or 14 gauge is not a split millimetre table, and stainless has no own figure
  • A missing guide arm is a review complaint
  • Dearest listing here at £31.99, with no stated step drill

Best for: Van-style panels and duct openings in thin mild steel when you want a longer review history than five ratings.

Less suitable: Buyers who need a printed stainless millimetre, a listed step drill, or a 2 mm stainless promise.

GIONAR Electric Drill Plate Cutter, Sheet Metal Nibbler Drill Attachment

Rank 5

GIONAR Electric Drill Plate Cutter, Sheet Metal…

∼£12

Our view

The GIONAR plate cutter is listed at £12.49 for flat sheet up to 1 mm at 1,500–3,000 rpm, and it is the highest-star gear shear in this set at 3.6 from 6 reviews. Six ratings are not a durability record. Copper and aluminium sit inside the same 1 mm claim; stainless is named without its own millimetre. The listing is a flat-sheet claim only, and English reviews of this pattern still include wheels letting go. At 440 g it is the same class of unpowered shear as the £12 neighbours. Rank 15 in Nibblers does not make it a punch-and-die head. It is only worth a look for a thin flat offcut if you will practise on scrap. It is the wrong buy for curves, van windows, or box-profile roofing.

Pros

  • 3.6 is the highest gear-shear star line in this set
  • States flat sheet up to 1 mm and 1,500–3,000 rpm
  • £12.49 and 440 g

Cons

  • Only 6 reviews
  • Flat-sheet claim only, with the usual gear-shear breakage pattern in this class
  • Stainless has no separate millimetre

Best for: A short flat trim under 1 mm when you already own a drill and will test on scrap.

Less suitable: Anyone treating 3.6 stars as a punch-nibbler result, or anyone cutting ribs.

Electric Drill Plate Cutter Attachment, Upgraded Metal Sheet Cutter Adapter

Rank 6

Electric Drill Plate Cutter Attachment, Upgraded…

∼£18

Our view

The DYXDYC upgraded plate cutter is listed at £17.63 with capacities in gauge: 20 gauge iron and steel, 16 gauge copper and aluminium, and a 1,500–3,000 rpm band. Across 375 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 3.3, the largest gear-shear sample in this set. English reviews describe the wheel coming off, missing brackets, failure on corrugated roof sheet, and the cutter falling apart on box profile, with a milder note that it is acceptable on flat tin. Millimetres are not stated; 20 gauge steel is about 0.9 mm on UK tables, which is still the flat-sheet band. An adapter handle is listed; a spare punch is not. The review count is not evidence of a punch nibbler and it is not a roofing test. Use it only if you already know the sheet is flat and thin and you will return a unit that sheds a wheel. Skip profiled roofing.

Pros

  • 375 amazon.co.uk reviews, so the failure modes are not a one-off comment
  • Adapter handle and a 1,500–3,000 rpm band are listed
  • Gauge line is at least a thickness claim, unlike Clyrax

Cons

  • 3.3 stars, with wheels off, missing brackets, and roof-sheet failures in English reviews
  • No millimetres, only 20 gauge iron and steel
  • Listing does not claim profiled sheet

Best for: Flat tin around 20 gauge if you will inspect the wheels on arrival and keep the receipt.

Less suitable: Corrugated or box-profile roofing, or anyone buying on review count alone.

Electric Drill Plate Cutter, Sheet Metal Cutter Accessories

Rank 7

Electric Drill Plate Cutter, Sheet Metal Cutter…

∼£14

Our view

The Funnytek plate cutter is listed at £14.49 for flat sheet metal under 1 mm, with a 1,500–3,000 rpm band and a double-headed description that here means two round cutters. Across 63 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 3.2. Reviews conflict on box profile: some buyers say they managed it after practice, others say it will not touch corrugated or bends. The listing itself is for flat sheet. English reviews of this pattern also describe wheels failing. At 480 g it is the second-largest gear-shear review file in the set, which is not the same as a punch kit. Use it only on flat scrap under 1 mm, and budget time to return a unit that sheds a cutter. It is a poor match for roofing ribs or for stainless with no millimetre rating.

Pros

  • States flat sheet under 1 mm and a 1,500–3,000 rpm band
  • 63 amazon.co.uk reviews, more than most of the cheap shears
  • £14.49 and 480 g, driven by a drill you already own

Cons

  • 3.2 stars, with reviews that conflict on box profile
  • English reviews describe wheels failing
  • Double-headed here is two round cutters, not a spare punch

Best for: You are cutting a flat offcut under 1 mm and you will not treat the star count as a roofing test.

Less suitable: You need to cross ribs, start an internal window, or cut stainless to a printed millimetre.

Sheet Metal Cutter Drill Attachment, Electric Drill Plate Cutter

Rank 8

Sheet Metal Cutter Drill Attachment, Electric Drill…

∼£16

Our view

The DoublleHui chuck adapter is a gear shear listed at £15.99 for steel plate 0.8–1 mm, iron sheet 0.3–1.2 mm, and copper or aluminium 1.5 mm. Across 9 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 3.2. The listing excludes bent, ribbed, profiled or welded plate, so a box-profile roof sheet is outside the claim even when the steel is under 1 mm. English reviews of this gear-shear pattern describe wheels and circlips letting go on the first cuts. At 510 g it is a light unpowered head, not a punch-and-die nibbler, even though this category ranks it in Nibblers. Rank 1 in that browse node does not change the mechanism. It is only a candidate for a flat offcut around 1 mm if you will try it on scrap and send it back if a wheel walks. Skip it for curves, internal windows, or profiled roofing.

Pros

  • Prints millimetres for iron, steel plate, copper and aluminium
  • Listing excludes ribbed and profiled plate instead of hiding the limit
  • £15.99, 510 g, chuck-driven with no mains plug of its own

Cons

  • 3.2 from only 9 amazon.co.uk reviews
  • English reviews of this pattern describe wheels and circlips failing early
  • Not a punch nibbler, despite the Nibblers browse rank

Best for: You have a known flat offcut around 1 mm and you will practise on scrap with a returns plan.

Less suitable: You need a curve, an internal window, or box-profile roofing.

Sheet Metal Cutter Drill Attachment, Fast Metal Nibbler for Electric Drill

Rank 9

Sheet Metal Cutter Drill Attachment, Fast Metal…

∼£13

Our view

The Xiciki gear shear is listed at £12.53 for iron sheet 0.3–1.2 mm and steel plate 0.8–1 mm, with copper and aluminium at 1.5 mm, and a 1,500–3,000 rpm band. Across 24 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 2.9, the weakest star line among the shears that actually print millimetres. The listing says it is not for bent plates, high-hardness alloys or plastics, and stainless appears in the title without a millimetre. UK reviews include a head that would not grip, a unit that would not cut a tin can, and a calmer note to cut without rushing. Torque follows the drill, and the listing tells you to reverse to back out of a jam, which is a shear tip, not a punch-nibbler rule. At 430 g with an adapter handle it is a cheap flat-sheet cutter. Skip it if you need a punch kit or a rated stainless cut.

Pros

  • Prints millimetres for iron sheet, steel plate, copper and aluminium
  • Adapter handle and a 1,500–3,000 rpm band are in the listing
  • £12.53 and 430 g

Cons

  • 2.9 from 24 reviews, including no bite on a tin can
  • Stainless in the title has no millimetre
  • Not for bent plate, hard alloys or plastics, per the listing

Best for: You have flat thin mild steel or aluminium and a drill with enough torque, and you will reverse out of a stall with the chuck still guarded.

Less suitable: You need stainless to a printed millimetre, a punch-and-die cut, or profiled sheet.

Sheet Metal Cutter Drill Attachment, Electric Drill Shears

Sheet Metal Cutter Drill Attachment, Electric Drill…

∼£12

Our view

The Quixoticaim double-headed plate cutter is the cheapest row in this set at £11.99, listed for flat sheet up to 1 mm at 1,500–3,000 rpm. Across 9 amazon.co.uk reviews it sits at 2.8. Stainless, copper and aluminium are named inside that 1 mm flat-sheet limit, with no separate millimetre for stainless. English reviews of this gear-shear pattern describe wheels and castings failing on first cuts. A positioning groove is claimed; a spare punch and die are not. At 460 g it is a light adapter for a drill you already own. The low price is the returns risk, not a punch kit in disguise. Use it only on flat scrap under 1 mm that you can replace. Skip roofing ribs, internal windows, and any panel that has to be right first time.

Pros

  • Lowest shelf price in the set at £11.99
  • States flat sheet up to 1 mm and 1,500–3,000 rpm
  • 460 g, no mains plug on the accessory

Cons

  • 2.8 from 9 reviews
  • English reviews of this pattern describe early wheel and casting failure
  • No spare punch, and stainless has no own millimetre

Best for: A disposable try on flat scrap under 1 mm, with the 30-day short-term right to reject in mind if it falls apart.

Less suitable: A panel you cannot replace, profiled roofing, or a cut that needs a punch-and-die kerf.

Sheet Metal Cutter Drill Attachment, Metal Nibbler…

∼£13

Our view

The Clyrax gear shear is listed at £12.59 with thin iron, steel, copper and aluminium named and no millimetres printed. Its only amazon.co.uk review is 2.0 from 1, and that review describes 0.7 mm roofing sheet that was not cut, followed by a switch to an angle grinder. A single unhappy roofing report is not a test, but it is the whole review file. There is no speed band, no spare punch, and no thickness you can check with a micrometer. At 440 g it is another unpowered chuck shear. Do not buy it to learn on coated roofing, and do not treat 0.7 mm as thin enough that any cutter will do. Leave it unless you will treat it as a returns risk on a known flat offcut, and even then a listing that prints millimetres is easier to judge.

Pros

  • £12.59 and 440 g, chuck-driven
  • Names iron, steel, copper and aluminium, even without millimetres

Cons

  • No printed millimetre rating
  • 2.0 from one review, which failed on 0.7 mm roofing sheet
  • No stated drill-speed band

Best for: Almost nobody in this set. Only a known flat offcut if you will inspect it on arrival and return it the same week.

Less suitable: Roofing sheet, any job that needs a thickness you can check, or a first cut you cannot afford to ruin.

Common questions

What thickness does this listing state?

The amazon.co.uk listing names thin iron and steel, and copper and aluminium, with no millimetres. Stainless is not stated.

Will it cut profiled roofing sheet?

The listing does not state a profiled-sheet claim. The single review describes 0.7 mm roofing sheet that was not cut.

What drill does it need?

It is drill-driven and has no mains plug of its own. The listing does not state a speed band.

How we compared

Eleven amazon.co.uk nibbler-attachment listings were scored for this page. Stars, review counts and shelf prices are the listing lines from 19 October 2026. There was no laboratory cut. The four weights below sum to 100. The highest score is the top pick. Best value is the cheapest punch-and-die kit that still prints a steel and stainless millimetre and has more than a handful of reviews.

1

Amazon evidence

30%

Star rating on amazon.co.uk, with more weight when the count is in the hundreds and the texts match that ASIN. A 4.4 from 535 outranks a 4.6 from five reviews on durability, but a complete printed millimetre table still scores. A file of one review is heavily reduced.

2

Listing fit

30%

A punch-and-die description with millimetres split by metal scores. A gear shear that states flat sheet around 1 mm and excludes ribbed plate scores for honesty, not for being a nibbler. Gauge-only lines and missing millimetres score low. Double head on round cutters is not treated as a second punch.

3

Review outcome

25%

A controlled cut on flat sheet inside the printed millimetres scores. Wheels or circlips walking out, no bite on tin, or failure on corrugated roof sheet are deductions. A missing guide bar is a deduction, not a change of mechanism.

4

Value

15%

Shelf price in GBP against a mechanism you can name and a thickness you can check. A £12 shear does not win this block when English reviews describe first-cut breakage. This block decides the separate value badge, not a tie on the headline score.

Nibbler attachment buying guide

The title on amazon.co.uk does not tell you which cutter you are holding. Match the mechanism to the sheet, then the millimetres to the metal, then the kit to the cut you actually need. Prices and stars below are the 19 October 2026 listing lines, not a workshop test.

What is a nibbler attachment?

A nibbler attachment has no motor of its own. You chuck it into a drill you already own, and the drill supplies the torque. amazon.co.uk uses one browse name for two different cutters, so the first job is to see which mechanism the photos show. A punch-and-die head bites a crescent out of the sheet. That leaves a real kerf and a flatter edge than snips on a curve, and it is weaker on a long freehand straight.

Best for

  • A householder trimming one flat thin offcut
  • Someone cutting a curve or an internal window

Not ideal for

  • Box-profile or corrugated roofing with a chuck shear
  • Sheet thicker than the stated mild-steel figure

Mistakes to avoid

  1. 1

    Trusting the word nibbler

The title covers punch-and-die heads and round-cutter plate shears. Photos and the first bullets have to show which one you are buying. Double-head means a second punch on the kits and often two round cutters on the shears.

  2. 2

Mixing 14 gauge with 1.6 mm

UK tables put 14 gauge steel near 1.9–2.0 mm and 20 gauge near 0.9 mm. Axelrivet’s 14-gauge line disagrees with its 1.6 mm carbon-steel figure. Plan around the millimetre, not the gauge slogan. Stainless in a title is not a thickness.

  3. 3

    Forcing profiled sheet

Gear-shear listings exclude ribbed and profiled plate. The VEVOR listing says it is not for corrugated steel. A missing pilot hole, or clearing chips while the chuck still spins, is the other way these heads jam. Over-thick sheet is not automatically a fault.

What to weigh up

Mechanism and millimetres

High

Photos and the first bullets must show a punch and die, or they must show gear wheels. A punch-and-die head bites crescents. A gear shear meshes round cutters and, where a limit is stated, is for flat sheet around 1 mm. Double-head is a second punch on the kits and often two round cutters on the shears. Mild steel, stainless and aluminium are different ratings. Where stainless is stated, it is about 1.2 mm in the Sealey table and in the Fafeicy, Axelrivet and VEVOR bullets.

Sheet shape, drill and kit

High

The shape of the sheet decides the mechanism. A flat offcut is the only plausible job for a gear shear. A curve or an internal window wants a punch-and-die kit. Box-profile and corrugated roofing is where gear-shear listings exclude ribbed plate, and where the VEVOR listing says it is not for corrugated steel. One Clyrax review says 0.7 mm roofing sheet was not cut. The repeated drill band is 1,500–3,000 rpm. The attachment is unpowered. Torque does the work.

Common questions about nibbler attachments

What is the top pick in this nibbler attachment comparison?
The Axelrivet punch kit is the top pick at about £27.99. The listing prints 1.6 mm carbon steel, 1.2 mm stainless, a 12 mm curve, a spare punch and die, and a 4–12 mm step drill. It has 4.6 from five amazon.co.uk reviews, so the score follows the complete table, not a large review file. The 14-gauge line disagrees with 1.6 mm. This is not a lab test.
How much does a nibbler attachment cost?
On the 19 October 2026 amazon.co.uk snapshot, gear shears in this set are about £11.99–£17.63 and punch-style kits are about £23.16–£31.99. The Fafeicy at about £23.16 is the best value: the cheapest punch-and-die kit that still prints a steel and stainless millimetre, with 4.3 from 77 reviews. A named trade head such as the Sealey sits about £40–£57 including VAT at UK tool shops, and it is not one of these ASINs.
What should you check before you buy a nibbler attachment?
Check the mechanism first. Photos should show a punch and die, or they should show gear wheels. Then check millimetres for the metal you actually have, because mild steel, stainless and aluminium are different ratings. Where stainless is stated here it is about 1.2 mm. Then check the sheet shape, a 1,500–3,000 rpm drill band, and whether a step drill and spare punch are in the box.
Is a nibbler attachment a punch or a gear shear?
A punch-and-die nibbler bites crescents and can follow a curve or an internal window once you have a pilot hole. In this set those kits are Fafeicy, Axelrivet, VEVOR and FUJIWARA. A gear shear meshes round cutters and, where a limit is stated, is for flat sheet around 1 mm. English reviews on the cheap shears describe wheels and castings failing on first cuts. Double-head means a second punch on the kits and often two round cutters on the shears.
Will a nibbler attachment cut profiled roofing?
Gear-shear listings in this set exclude ribbed and profiled plate, or they claim flat sheet only. The VEVOR listing says the punch head is not for corrugated steel. One Clyrax review says 0.7 mm roofing sheet was not cut. Colour Clad Profiles and Southern Sheeting want a cold cut on coated roofing, not an angle grinder. Do not assume a chuck shear will cross box-profile ribs.
What drill does a nibbler attachment need?
The attachment is unpowered. Your drill supplies the torque, and the repeated speed band is 1,500–3,000 rpm. Sealey’s drill nibbler, the trade reference outside this amazon set, also says no more than 3,000 rpm. A slow cordless can still cut, as one Fafeicy reviewer reported, but that is outside the advised speed. Isolate the drill before you fit the head, and do not wear gloves near a rotating chuck.
Is 14 gauge the same as 1.6 mm?
No. UK tables put 14 gauge steel near 1.9–2.0 mm and 20 gauge near 0.9 mm. The Axelrivet listing says 1.6 mm carbon steel and also up to 14 gauge, which is a different thickness, so plan around 1.6 mm. FUJIWARA’s 2 mm or 14 gauge only roughly agrees. DYXDYC states 20 gauge iron and steel with no millimetres. A gauge slogan is not a stainless rating.
When should you stop and call a professional?
Stop for roof or ladder work, sheet thicker than the stated mild-steel figure, a structural or vehicle panel you cannot assess, or employee use with no PUWER check. PUWER 1998 applies in Great Britain when the drill is work equipment. Northern Ireland has its own instruments. If you want a cutter with its own motor rather than a chuck attachment, compare a nibbler instead of forcing this accessory.

Our verdict

The Axelrivet double-head punch kit scores 92 in this set at about £27.99, with a printed 1.6 mm carbon-steel line, 1.2 mm stainless, a spare punch and die, a step drill and a metal box. That is the top pick. It has 4.6 from only five amazon.co.uk reviews, and the 14-gauge line disagrees with 1.6 mm. The Fafeicy scores 86 at about £23.16, with about 1.8 mm steel, 1.2 mm stainless and 4.3 from 77 reviews. That is the best value: the cheapest punch-and-die kit that still prints those millimetres. The VEVOR scores 88 with the largest review file, and its listing excludes corrugated steel. None of this is a lab test.
