Sandblaster for air compressor

Updated: 21.10.2026

You have a compressor and a rusty bracket, and amazon.co.uk is offering a sandblaster for air compressor from about £11 to about £70, plus a walnut machine at £339.99 that is not a gun. Check whether the listing prints the air the gun needs, and whether the feed is a hopper, a siphon, a washer lance, or a closed loop. The model table sits on the [sandblaster comparison](/hub/compressors/sandblaster). Figures are the 19 October 2026 listings, written by the Products Compared editorial team. It is not a lab test. What you are actually buying

The InoKraft premium kit at £49.99 and the basic kit at £42.99 both state a 900 cc hopper and 60–120 psi. The BGS 3244 at £14.87 is gravity too, with a 600 cm³ container, and the LIYOU listing at £10.99 is a 900 ml hopper. BGS reviewers lose the feed once the gun points up. A siphon gun pulls grit up a hose. The Metabo SSP 1000 at £21.79 is that type, and so are the AMTOVL and Bohaner kits. The HoldOneLight lance at £26.28 is a wet attachment for a pressure washer. The 5,000 psi line is a washer maximum, not a compressor setting. The AUTOOL HTS558 at £339.99 is a closed-loop walnut machine for inlet valves, and the air pump is not in the box. Who should skip which listing is on the best sandblaster gun UK page.

Air at the working pressure

Match the published air figure at the working pressure, then look at the tank. A 50 litre tank is a buffer. It is not 50 litres of air every minute. The Metabo listing is the cleanest pair in this set: 7 bar and 300 litres per minute, at £21.79 with 4.3 from 1,084 reviews. If your compressor cannot approach that delivery, this gun is the wrong row. The BGS listing prints 453 litres per minute and a 6.3 mm inlet, and it does not print a working pressure. Reviewers cite about 6–8 bar. The LIYOU listing prints 8.8–10.6 cfm, and the title and the bullets disagree on psi. The InoKraft UK listings state 60–120 psi and do not print cfm. The Ejoyous kit at £69.50 says 120 psi and asks for a compressor that is 1 or larger, with no unit and no cfm. A gun that matches the compressor still needs a lawful abrasive, which is the sandblasting media page.

Hopper, nozzle, and water

A 900 cc hopper is a few minutes of spot work, which is how reviewers in this set time a full hopper, not an afternoon on a gate. The BGS container is 600 cm³. The InoKraft kits and the Bohaner kit name ceramic tips. Metabo names a hardened steel jet. BGS names a 5 mm steel tip. Moisture clumps dry media. The InoKraft premium kit includes an oil-water separator and an extension nozzle. The basic kit is £7 less, and a review on that listing says the separator and the longer nozzle are the premium difference. Metabo's instructions want air free of condensate and oil, and a hose bore of at least 10 mm. Neither InoKraft kit names the quick-connector profile. UK lines are often Euro or PCL. 1/4 inch is a size, not a plug. The LIYOU inlet states 1/4 inch NPT. The BGS inlet is 6.3 mm.

When to stop and buy something else

A handheld gun in this price band is for a bracket, a tool, or a small casting. It is the wrong purchase for a chassis, a flat door skin, or a bonnet. UK blast shops describe warp on large panels as permanent, and some drop toward about 10 psi on vulnerable aluminium. That figure is their process, not a setting on these guns. Inlet-valve carbon is the AUTOOL's job, and only if the intake valve stays closed. Kit goggles are in several boxes. HSE's note CN7 asks for an air-fed helmet with an assigned protection factor of at least 40 for open blasting. The goggles do not meet that description. If the metal is a car panel, the limits are on sandblast rust off metal.

Common questions

Will my existing compressor run a sandblasting gun?
Only if it can hold the airflow the listing prints at the pressure the listing prints. A 50 litre tank only lengthens the burst. If the listing prints no airflow, as the InoKraft and AMTOVL rows do not, you cannot match the gun from the page alone.
What does 300 l/min at 7 bar mean if my compressor is sold as 50 litres?
The 50 litres is tank volume. The 300 litres per minute is what the Metabo wants while the trigger is held, at 7 bar. When tank pressure falls, the gun falls off until the pump catches up. A bigger tank does not raise the pump's delivery.
Do I need the oil-water separator version?
You need dry air either way. The InoKraft premium kit at £49.99 includes a separator. The basic kit at £42.99 does not. If the hose already spits water, buy the separator with the gun or fit one you drain.
Is a pressure-washer kit a substitute if I have no compressor?
Only if the washer is strong enough. UK reviews of the HoldOneLight lance report progress on a Kärcher K7 and on a petrol washer around 240 bar, and no lift from a 120 bar domestic washer. The listing also names dry silica sand, which is not a lawful blasting abrasive in the UK.
When is a handheld gun the wrong purchase?
When the job is a bodyshell, a flat panel, or inlet valves you cannot confirm are closed. One BGS review used a 25 kg bag on a single axle, which is already beyond a Saturday cup of grit. Paid work is an employer's duty, and a hobby gun does not discharge it.
