Kärcher wash brush for cars

Updated: 21.10.2026

A Kärcher wash brush for cars is only useful after two checks: whether your water company is allowing a mains-fed wash today, and whether the bristles are free of grit. Soft nylon does not cancel a stone stuck in the head, and a flat jet held too close is a different tool from the brush. This page is for a UK driver with a K 2 to K 7. Prices of the heads in our set are on the [Kärcher washing brush comparison](/hub/compressors/kaercher-washing-brush). Products Compared editorial team, 19 October 2026, from Kärcher’s GB car-washing page, the WB 7 Plus manual, and amazon.co.uk review themes. No lab scratch test.

Check the ban and the drain before you start

A temporary use ban can treat your pressure washer as a hosepipe. The frame is section 76 of the Water Industry Act 1991 and the Water Use (Temporary Bans) Order 2010. The ban is the water company’s, not a UK-wide switch. Thames Water’s page, updated 12 October 2026, still bars a pressure washer for cleaning vehicles in its supply area. Bucket washes and rainwater are the exceptions that page allows. If the company on your bill is in a ban, do not connect the K 2 to K 7 to the mains for the car. Scotland, a United Utilities postcode, or a Welsh Water area is not covered by Thames Water’s page.

Rinse grit off before any bristle touches paint

Swirl marks come from particles, not from the word soft on a box. Rinse the panels with the brush off the paint until the water runs clear of grit, then use light pressure. UK reviews of the WB 60 both praise it on vehicles and refuse it on paint. One WB 7 Plus review says the bristles would scratch lacquer. Another says they work on car paint and windows. We did not run a scratch test. The attach order is in how to use a Kärcher wash brush.

Flat jet distance, stated twice on purpose

Kärcher does not print one distance for every page. The GB car-washing article says use the flat jet, not the rotor nozzle, stay about 15 cm from the car’s surface, and stay about 30 cm from the tyres. The WB 7 Plus manual says at least 30 cm on sensitive or painted surfaces, keep the jet moving, and test a hidden spot. If the head in your hand is the WB 7 Plus, follow its manual. The rotor, or a pencil jet, is the setting to leave in the box.

Which head in this set belongs near a car

The WB 60, £17.94, 248 mm, is the wide soft pass after the rinse. The WB 7 Plus, £34.99, belongs near a car in brush mode, and in foam mode if you accept a small tank. Its flat-jet mode is the high-pressure function, so keep it off the clear coat or hold it at the manual’s 30 cm. The pet brush does not belong on the car. The rotating quick-connect ASIN at £35.98 is not the UK WB 130. A spinning pad sold for cars and bikes is order 2.644-287.0, not B01BMB3XSG. Between the two heads we list, WB 60 vs WB 7 Plus is the purchase.

Common questions

How far should the flat jet stay from the car?
Kärcher’s GB car article says about 15 cm from the car’s surface and about 30 cm from the tyres, with a flat jet rather than a rotor. The WB 7 Plus manual says at least 30 cm on sensitive or painted surfaces, kept moving, after a test on a hidden spot. Use the manual for the head you are holding. Do not split the difference.
Can I use the rotor nozzle on paint or tyres?
No. Kärcher’s car-washing page tells you to use the flat jet and not the rotor. The older K 6.50 M outlet manual is just as clear that a rotor is the wrong nozzle for varnish. A pencil jet is the same kind of mistake. If the only nozzle on the lance is a rotor, fit a flat jet or a brush before the panel, or do not wash the paint with that lance.
Can I wash the car on the drive during a hosepipe ban?
Only if your water company has not included pressure washers, or if you are not using the mains. Thames Water’s page, updated 12 October 2026, still includes pressure washers for vehicles in its area, with buckets and rainwater as the exceptions it states. Affinity Water and South West Water have published the same kind of limit for their customers. Check the company on your bill. A ban in the Thames area does not answer the question for a different supplier.
Does the WB 60 soap the car by itself?
Not from a tank in the head. The amazon.co.uk bullets do not describe one, and a review says the brush sends clean water through, so you soap first. Kärcher’s GB page still mentions detergent application for the WB 60, which can mean detergent in the wash rather than a bottle inside the brush. If you want foam from the accessory, that is the WB 7 Plus tank, and reviews call it small.
Should wheels and body share one brush?
No. Wheels throw brake dust and road grit into the bristles, and that load is what marks a bonnet on the next pass. Use a separate brush or wash the wheels after the body, with the body head already put aside bristles-up. The WB 60’s 248 mm head is a panel tool. It is a poor wheel brush precisely because it is wide.
