Bosch pressure washer for a patio

Updated: 21.10.2026

Green slabs look like a job for the strongest Bosch you can find, and that is how patios lose their joints. A narrow jet stripes concrete, scours sandstone, and blows the sand out of block paving, even when the washer was a sensible buy. This page, from the Products Compared editorial team, is about a Bosch pressure washer for a patio: the surface, the nozzle, and which carton in our [Bosch pressure washer comparison](/hub/compressors/bosch-pressure-washer) actually helps. It is not the tap set-up and it is not a lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Prices are the amazon.co.uk shelf on 19 October 2026.

What a patio jet can ruin

The damage is usually the nozzle and the distance, not the Bosch badge. Gardenscape, writing from paving work rather than a British Standard, describes stripes, exposed aggregate, sandstone scoured by a turbo nozzle, and joints emptied so the blocks rock. Concrete tolerates more than soft sandstone. Paving Slabs UK suggests a wide fan, at least 300 mm of standoff, and roughly 80 to 110 bar as a ceiling for sandstone. That is a retailer’s rule of thumb, not a Bosch limit. It means you should not press the AdvancedAquatak nameplate into the stone.

Fan, rotary, and a surface head

Use a wide fan, or a surface cleaner that holds the jets at a fixed height. A point jet and a rotary nozzle can pluck grit out of sandstone. The UniversalAquatak 135’s 3-in-1 nozzle includes a point setting. Leave it for a tar spot, not for the whole patio. Only the EasyAquatak 120 kit, part 06008A7972, at £130.86, lists a 250 patio cleaner and a wash brush. The kit still has 350 L/h and a 5 m hose, and one bullet says 100 bar while the pressure field says 120 bar. How the ranges differ is on the Bosch pressure washer buying guide.

Which Bosch in this set fits the patio

A few slabs by the back door are the bare EasyAquatak 120 at £89.95. A car and a medium patio are the UniversalAquatak 135 at £108, with 450 L/h, a 7 m hose and no head. The AdvancedAquatak 140 at £208.99 is the step when 100 bar already felt slow on flagstones. It is 17.6 kg and shares 450 L/h with the 135. The manual rates the pump at 11 MPa (110 bar) and treats 140 bar as allowable. Use the 8 m hose field, not the 5 m highlight. The EasyAquatak 100 at £56.99 is slow on a large flagstone run. The Fontus is not a patio washer.

Distance and a test patch

The 300 mm figure is Paving Slabs UK’s rule of thumb for sandstone, not a Bosch specification. On sandstone, start on the widest fan and watch the grit. If it turns from green biofilm to the colour of the slab, you are cutting the stone. Do the test in a corner, then look once it has dried. The Easy kit’s 250 mm head is a small circle. The tap, the RCD and the bleed are on the how to use a Bosch pressure washer page. Detergent is for grime, not for forcing a joint clean.

When to stop and repoint

Stop when jointing sand or mortar crumbs leave with the water. Blown joints are the failure Gardenscape sees after an aggressive wash, and a second pass will not put the sand back. Block paving that rocks needs the right jointing sand before it needs more pressure. A paving firm is the right call when the joints have already failed, or when sandstone is gouged. Stop on painted decking if the colour is lifting. A scarred patio cannot be unwound with a wider nozzle afterwards.

Common questions

Can I pressure-wash a patio with a Bosch?
Yes, if you match the range to the size and use a wide fan or a surface head. EasyAquatak is the small-terrace class, UniversalAquatak the medium patio, AdvancedAquatak the large hard surface. The UniversalAquatak 135 at £108 gives 450 L/h and 7 m without a patio head. The only included 250 mm head is on the EasyAquatak 120 kit at £130.86. A pencil jet will mark the slabs whichever Bosch you bought.
Will it blow the pointing out?
It will if you dwell with a narrow or rotary jet, or if the joints are already loose. Gardenscape lists emptied joints among the usual failures, as trade experience rather than a British Standard. Keep the fan moving, and stop when sand or mortar appears in the runoff. A surface head is kinder than a turbo nozzle. It is not a promise that old pointing will survive a close pass.
Is sandstone safe under an AdvancedAquatak 140?
Only on a wide fan, well back. Paving Slabs UK’s rule of thumb is a fan, at least 300 mm, and about 80 to 110 bar for sandstone. The Advanced name says 140 bar, while the manual rates the pump at 11 MPa. Test a corner and stop if the grit changes colour.
Which Bosch in this set includes a patio cleaner?
Only the EasyAquatak 120 kit, part 06008A7972, at £130.86. It lists a 250 patio cleaner and a wash brush, with 350 L/h and a 5 m hose. The bare 120 at £89.95 does not. Nor do the UniversalAquatak 125, the 135 or the 140. One bullet on the kit says 100 bar. The pressure field says 120 bar.
When is the patio a paving firm’s job instead?
When the joints have already failed, the blocks rock, or sandstone is gouged and a wash would cut deeper. Repointing or re-sanding comes before more pressure. A firm is also the right call if the first pass is already leaving aggregate exposed. A green film on sound slabs is still a DIY fan-jet job. A loose patio is not.
