Best retractable air hose reel 20 m

Updated: 21.10.2026

Star ratings on amazon.co.uk will not tell you who should leave a 20 m air hose reel listing alone. A 4.4 average can still hide a hose that stacks, a licensed brand name, or a crank drum that is not retractable. On 19 October 2026 we compared four listings, with no lab test: the Draper 70838 at £46.68 (4.2 from 70), the INCENDIOS at £109.99 (4.1 from 11), the Goodyear hybrid at £119.99 (4.4 from 496) and the steel Goodyear at £189.99 (4.3 from 74). What best can mean here

There is no independent UK laboratory ranking of these four ASINs. Best on this page means the listing whose job matches yours, with a review sample large enough to read. The star line is the amazon.co.uk figure. It is not a count of UK-only comments, and it is not a safety mark. None of these listings prints UKCA, CE or a British Standard for the reel. If you searched for a retractable reel, set the Draper aside. It is a manual crank, and the best value when you only need the hose sometimes. Sealey lists the manual SA825, 6 mm, at £83.94 including VAT, and the controlled-rewind SA93, 10 mm, at £347.94 including VAT. Those are context, not extra rows.

The Draper if you only need a hose sometimes

The Draper 70838 is £46.68, 4.04 kg, polyethylene, freestanding, with 1/4 inch BSP connectors and a 20 bar maximum. Across 70 reviews, people carry it to the drive. They also say the inlet turns with the drum, so the hose comes off before it is wound. The listing does not state the bore. Reviewers report crimped plugs that missed their Euro or PCL set. It is a fair reel for tyres every few weeks. It is a poor best retractable because it does not retract. At 30 x 20.5 x 38 cm it lives on the floor or in the boot. The retractable versus manual page stays on that difference. Bore and coupling are on the buying guide.

The two mid-price spring reels

The Goodyear hybrid is the top pick for a weekly garage. It is £119.99, 9 kg, with a 9.5 mm by 20 m hybrid hose, a 0.9 m lead-in, 3/8 inch BSP ends and a polypropylene case. The bullets claim a swivel and a ratchet that locks at any length. Amazon.co.uk shows 4.4 from 496 reviews, the largest sample here. Many captured review texts are not from the United Kingdom. Repeated complaints are a hose that stacks on one side and a fiddly latch. The manufacturer field names Intradin (Shanghai) Machinery Co., Ltd. A UK review says the Goodyear name is used under licence. The attribute line says Manual while the bullets describe a spring. The INCENDIOS 8013M-1 is £109.99, at 11.8 kg, with a 9.5 mm hybrid hose, a 2 m lead-in and 1/4 inch BSP fittings. It is 4.1 from 11 reviews. Some review text says 15 m or 50 ft while the specification says 20 m. Buy it only after you have checked the live length. Neither listing states a controlled retract.

When the steel case earns £189.99

The Goodyear GUR007 is £189.99 for a 9.5 mm by 20 m SBR hose in a powder-coated steel case, at 17.4 kg. It is 4.3 from 74 reviews. UK comments in the file are short and positive. Two US reviews describe bubbles in the hose. The bullets claim a brass swivel, say the lead-in is not included, and disagree on the mount: a wall base in the bullets, stand-alone in the attribute. Pay this when you want rubber hose in steel, you can fix 17.4 kg into masonry or a joist, and you already own a lead-in. If the latch lets go, or the only fixing is plasterboard, look at a trade reel with a stated slow retract, such as the PCL HRA3L03, quoted at up to 9 seconds and £166.34 with VAT not confirmed. HSG39 is about hose whip and not using air to clean clothing. It is not a certificate for these products.

Common questions

Which kept listing is the one for a weekly garage, not a van?
The Goodyear hybrid at £119.99. It is a wall-mount spring reel with a stated 9.5 mm hose, a 0.9 m lead-in, and 4.4 from 496 amazon.co.uk reviews. The Draper is the one you carry. The steel Goodyear is the one you buy when you want an SBR hose and you can hang 17.4 kg. The hybrid is still a poor fit if you need a slow retract printed on the page.
Why is the Draper a poor best retractable even though it is 20 m?
Because it is a hand crank, not a spring. Reviews say the inlet turns with the drum, so you disconnect before you unwind. At £46.68 and 4.04 kg it is the best value for occasional tyre work. A retractable search is looking for a latch and a rewind, which this listing does not offer.
Is the 4.4-star Goodyear the tyre company’s reel?
The listing does not say that. The manufacturer field is Intradin (Shanghai) Machinery Co., Ltd., and a UK review says the Goodyear name is used under licence. Judge the reel on the 9.5 mm hose, the 0.9 m lead-in, the 9 kg case and the pile-up complaints, not on the tyre brand.
What is wrong with trusting the INCENDIOS on 11 reviews?
The sample is small, and some review text says 15 m or 50 ft while the specification says 20 m. Dimensions are absent. The 2 m lead-in and the £109.99 price are attractive only after you have confirmed the live page still matches the 20 m spec and your 1/4 inch BSP fittings.
When is the £189.99 steel reel worth the weight?
When you want the SBR rubber hose in a steel case, you can fix 17.4 kg to masonry or timber, and you already have a lead-in. The UK review comments in the file are short. Two US reviews mention hose bubbles. It is not worth the weight if a 9 kg polypropylene reel already covers the bay.
What should I buy instead if I need a slow retract?
None of the four kept listings states one. A trade example is the PCL HRA3L03, described as retracting in up to 9 seconds, at £166.34 with VAT not confirmed. Sealey’s controlled-rewind SA93 is listed at £347.94 including VAT. Those are different products from the Amazon rows on this page.
