Hama Meteotime weather station

Updated: October 2026

The forecast corner is blank while the time and outdoor temperature remain. On a Hama Meteotime weather station the multi-day forecast is a broadcast packet on the German DCF77 signal, not a sun icon calculated in the kitchen. The packet has been off since 30 June 2026. This page says what the set is supposed to receive, what the operator says is missing, and when a local icon is the better buy. It does not re-rank every model in the [Hama weather station comparison](/hub/climate-measuring/hama-weather-station). Clock steps stay on the [set-up](/hub/climate-measuring/hama-weather-station/sub/hama-weather-station-set-up) page.

What Meteotime is supposed to receive

Model 186369, ASIN B08SFPD9F2, is £27.07 here and rated 2.9 from 475 reviews. The listing puts an outdoor sensor and four AA batteries in the box. It claims rain probability, wind speed and wind direction, plus indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity. The manual describes a four-day view for 60 regions. The first full download can take up to 24 hours. That download rides the DCF77 time signal, not a Wi-Fi fetch. The listing quotes ±2 °C. The buying guide separates this broadcast from a barometer and from a four-symbol icon.

What has been off since 30 June 2026

Hama's English support guide says the disruption has run since 30 June 2026. You may see no multi-day forecast, no wind, or data that stays stale. Time, date and the local sensors can continue. Leave the set switched on, and do not treat the missing forecast as a hardware defect. Meteotime's notice says forecast transmission stopped at about 18:00 Central European Summer Time on 30 June 2026, and that the DCF77 time signal was not the part that failed. The 30 July 2026 follow-up said transmission was still not possible. Symbols that keep changing are a search, not a forecast you should dress for. Hama says leave the location alone. If the hour is wrong, fix the offset. If only the forecast is empty and the time is locking, you are looking at the service. The 2.9 from 475 reviews sits on a forecast the operator later said was off air.

What you get from a local icon instead

A local icon comes from the station's own recent readings. On the Action, four symbols are a short hint over hours, not a weekend. The Black Line Plus lists seven icons on a 12 to 24 hour horizon, plus a barometer. A sun symbol in the first minutes is an empty trend. An icon is not the Met Office, and a barometer is not Saturday. Pressure on the Ko Samui or the Black Line Plus does not download rain probability or wind direction. Those are the Meteotime claims, and they go dark when the packet stops. The Action does not itemise a sensor in its box line. The Black Line Plus has UK reviews that say the time-zone offset does not hold. Leaving Meteotime for an icon set does not erase those limits.

When to buy which

If you already own Meteotime and the forecast is blank while the time and the outdoor sensor still work, wait. Leave the set on. Do not treat a published service outage as a dead station. A right to reject faulty goods is a different situation. If you need a forecast on the device today, do not buy Meteotime while the 30 July 2026 notice is the latest word here. Buy Meteotime when you have checked that the packet is being transmitted. Until then, the £27.07 set is a DCF clock plus a local sensor quoting ±2 °C.

Common questions

Is a blank Meteotime forecast a broken station?
Not on the evidence Hama published for this outage. Since 30 June 2026 the forecast packet can be missing while the station still runs. Time, date and local readings can continue. A dead outdoor sensor is a separate fault from an empty forecast pane.
Do time and the outdoor sensor still work during the outage?
They can. Hama says the disruption hits the forecast, the wind, or leaves stale forecast data, and that the clock and the local sensors are not the failed part. If your clock is an hour out, that is the UK offset, not proof that the outage has eaten the time signal.
Should I reset it or move it to the window?
For this forecast outage, no. Hama says leave the set on and leave the location alone. A window move is the advice for a weak time-signal search, which is a different job. Resetting does not restart a broadcast the operator has said is stopped.
What is the difference between a sun icon and Meteotime?
A sun icon on a set such as the Action is a short local trend from the station's own readings. It is not next weekend. Meteotime is a multi-day regional packet, with rain probability and wind, delivered over DCF77. Only the second depends on the transmission that stopped on 30 June 2026.
Which sets are the local-icon alternative?
Icon forecasts are listed on the Action, the Bahamas, the Zakynthos, the Touch and the EWS-200, and on the Sylt with seven symbols. The Ko Samui and the Black Line Plus add a barometer. They do not need the Meteotime packet, and they are not automatic upgrades.
Does a barometer tell me Saturday's weather?
No. Pressure on the Black Line Plus is framed as 12 to 24 hours, with seven icons. It does not name Saturday, and it does not show wind or a rain percentage. Those are Meteotime claims. Use a forecast service for the weekend.
Will the forecast come back on its own?
Hama's advice is to leave the set on so it can receive data when transmission resumes. The 30 July 2026 notice said the forecast was still not being sent. This page does not know a later fix. When the service is healthy, the first full set can take up to 24 hours. That wait does not fill an outage.
