Workshop trolley for a small garage

Updated: October 2026

A single garage feels wide until the car is in and the driver’s door needs a strip of floor. A workshop trolley for a small garage has to fit that strip, not the whole bay, and several listings in this set print two sizes that do not agree. The Products Compared editorial team lined up the amazon.co.uk dimension lines on 16 October 2026. We did not visit your garage, and a qualifying purchase can earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. The product rows are on the [workshop trolley comparison](/hub/workshop/workshop-trolley).

The gap beside the car

Garage Plans UK describes a common single garage as about 3 m wide and 6 m long, and it says there is no legal minimum. That 3 m is not free width. A car around 1.8 m wide, plus the door swing, leaves a corridor. Measure the gap with the car parked as you park it, door open. A trolley that fits the empty bay can still block the seat. HSE treats a tight gap as a reason for a fuller look at the push, because you twist between the car and the wall. Trust the frame you can measure when the listing contradicts itself.

Sizes you can read

Four listings give one coherent line, with the usual doubt that a table can still be wrong in the carton. TGHEY prints 75.5 x 45.7 x 89 cm and 9.5 kg. On that line the narrow axis is 45.7 cm. MOVERLY prints 71 x 48.3 x 88 cm and 12.8 kg. If 48.3 cm is the width, test that against the gap. BIZOEIRON prints 42 x 75 x 88 cm and 29.5 kg empty. If 75 cm is the width, it is the wide object in this group. TAILIKANG prints 57 x 50 x 92 cm. Two reviews and no review text mean you have not seen it in a UK garage. Mark 46 cm, 48 cm, 50 cm, and 75 cm on the floor and see which marks still let the door open.

Sizes you should not trust yet

Denny prints both 74 x 35 x 65.5 cm and 74 x 65.5 x 35 cm. Do not buy it as the narrow one until you measure it. A UK review also found a shelf with no wheel holes. JAOGAUS puts 26 x 14 x 28.3 in in the title and 73 x 66 x 35.5 cm in the table. Those orders are not one box. BOODPET prints 44 x 103 x 86.5 cm and 41 x 17 x 34 in. The labels look swapped. Measure it before you commit the only gap you have. KINGRACK’s folded size is about 16.46 x 5.39 x 41.57 in, and the listing’s centimetre line does not match that order. TOROKOM prints 10 x 10 x 10 mm. That is not a cart.

Weight and where it stands

Empty weight decides whether you lift the cart or only roll it. KINGRACK is about 4 kg, Denny 8 kg, JAOGAUS 9 kg, TGHEY 9.5 kg, TAILIKANG 12.2 kg, MOVERLY 12.8 kg, BOODPET 18 kg, and TOROKOM 21.5 kg with no usable size. BIZOEIRON is 29.5 kg and does not fold. A carton is heavier than the empty weight. The latch and the concrete wobble stay on the folding or fixed workshop trolley page. Finish with a tape on the clear width, car in, before you treat any centimetre line as the gap you have.

Common questions

How wide is a single UK garage?
A common size quoted by Garage Plans UK is about 3 m wide and 6 m long. There is no legal minimum, and many garages differ. The free strip beside a parked car is what matters, often well under a metre once a door opens. Measure your bay with the car in it. Do not buy a 75 cm cabinet because the building is 3 m wide.
Which of these carts has a trustworthy width?
Trust a width only when the listing’s own lines agree, and even then check the carton. TGHEY’s 45.7 cm, MOVERLY’s 48.3 cm, TAILIKANG’s 50 cm, and BIZOEIRON’s 75 cm are single coherent lines, read off the printed order. Denny, JAOGAUS, BOODPET, KINGRACK’s centimetres, and TOROKOM are not in that group. The Clarke trolley at 365 mm wide is a different product, useful only as a picture of a narrow cart.
What if two size lines disagree?
Do not average them and do not pick the smaller one because the bay is tight. Denny’s two orders swap 35 cm and 65.5 cm. JAOGAUS and BOODPET disagree between inches and centimetres. Buy only if you can return the cart after you measure it, or wait for a listing that prints one size. A swapped label is how a “narrow” cart blocks the door.
Can I store it when the car is in?
Only if something about the cart gets smaller or the gap is wide enough for it to stand. KINGRACK folds, and the folded inches are on the listing, with a conflicting centimetre line you should not treat as confirmed. The other carts keep their footprint. A 29.5 kg drawer cabinet will not hang on a hook. Do not assume a hinge solves a 40 cm gap.
How heavy is the carton?
The listing weights are empty product weights, from about 4 kg for the KINGRACK to 29.5 kg for the drawer cabinet. Packaging adds more, and TGHEY buyers mention a heavy box. If you are carrying it through a terraced hallway, the 4 kg and 8 kg carts are the realistic lifts. The cabinet is a two-person move even before tools go in the drawers.
Is 10 mm a real size?
No. TOROKOM’s table says 10 x 10 x 10 mm, which cannot be this trolley. The link ASIN and the details ASIN also differ, and there are no reviews. Ignore that line for shed planning. If you already ordered it, measure the cart that arrives and decide from the tape, not from the table.
