Ryobi angle grinder buying guide

Updated: 22 October 2026

You already own a Ryobi drill, or you are about to buy a first ONE+ pack, and a grinder looks like the next body. The amazon.co.uk price reads like a finished tool. It is a body. This Ryobi angle grinder buying guide is the choice behind that price: 115 mm or 125 mm, a pack you already have, and a kit only if the drawer is empty. The [Ryobi angle grinder comparison](/hub/tools/ryobi-angle-grinder) holds three listings captured on 19 October 2026. This page does not rank them. If you buy through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What you are actually buying

A Ryobi angle grinder in this set is an 18 V ONE+ cordless body, not a corded 230 mm machine and not a kit unless the page says the pack is included. The R18AG-0, ASIN B00B8AFJYI, was about £66.65 with the battery and charger excluded. The RAG18BL-0, ASIN B0DFHL5RK7, was about £149.95 on the same terms. If the drawer is empty, about £66.65 does not switch anything on. Ryobi's shop listed the R18AG-0 body at £107.99 and the R18AG-140S kit at £169.99 the same week. The kit adds a 4.0 Ah pack and a charger, with a claim of 46 cuts of 13 mm bar. That kit is not an amazon row here. A charger needs a UK 3-pin plug and fuse. How a given amp-hour behaves is on the Ryobi angle grinder battery size page.

115 mm or 125 mm

The R18AG-0 highlight says a 115 mm disc and 7,500 rpm. The RAG18BL-0 title says 125 mm, and the speed line says 9,200 rpm. A 125 mm wheel does not belong on the 115 mm guard. If your discs are already 115 mm, the cheaper body matches that stack. The 125 mm listing is the one that states the larger class. The 9,200 rpm figure is a no-load speed, not a promise that a cut finishes sooner. Ryobi does not call the R18AG-0 brushless. The RAG18BL bullets do, and they name a paddle, a tool-less guard and nut, and electronic anti-kickback. Ryobi's R18AG page describes a two-stage switch that will not lock, and it does not list anti-kickback. If brushless is the only question left, the Ryobi brushed or brushless angle grinder page stays on that pair.

Codes that are not in the comparison

Ryobi UK prices the RAG18115-0 at £96.99. It is a 115 mm ONE+ body, and it is not ASIN B00B8AFJYI. The RAG18X125-0 is another brushless page, at £154.99. The only brushless row in the comparison is the RAG18BL-0 at about £149.95. PBLAG02B is on amazon.co.uk at about £87.71. The title says 4-1/2 in., not a millimetre size, and the written reviews are from the United States or Canada. The best Ryobi angle grinder UK page explains why that listing takes no badge.

What not to treat as a spec

The R18AG-0 block prints 4 horsepower next to 18.0 V. The RAG18BL-0 block prints 50 W and 2.68 horsepower next to 18 V and 9,200 rpm. The PBLAG02B bullets say up to 11 amps of corded performance, and the speed line says 3.5 deg/sec. We do not convert that line into rpm. A wood sentence on Ryobi's category FAQ does not permit a toothed saw blade or a chainsaw disc. The Office for Product Safety and Standards alert PSA5, 14 March 2023, says to stop using those attachments and cites BS EN 60745-2-3. If the guard will not lock, or the work is structural, or you are on a site where mounting wheels needs training, stop.

Common questions

Is the cheap amazon Ryobi a 115 mm or a 125 mm?
The about £66.65 capture, the R18AG-0, is the 115 mm listing at 7,500 rpm. The 125 mm body in this set is the RAG18BL-0 at about £149.95. Do not put a 125 mm disc on the cheaper guard because the brand matches. The disc class is on the listing, and the guard has to cover that class.
Do I need a battery on day one?
You do if you do not already own a Ryobi ONE+ pack and charger. All three kept amazon listings exclude the battery. The body price is the grinder only. A 2.0 Ah pack sits at the short end of Ryobi's cut table for the R18AG-0. A body with no pack does not spin.
Is there a kit if I own no packs?
Ryobi lists the R18AG-140S at £169.99 with a 4.0 Ah pack and a charger, and a claim of 46 cuts of 13 mm bar. That is the manufacturer's shop, not the amazon row at about £66.65. Buy the kit when you are starting ONE+. Buy the bare body when a pack is already charged.
What is RAG18115 if the listing says R18AG-0?
RAG18115-0 is a separate 115 mm code on Ryobi UK, at £96.99, with 9,000 rpm and a 68-cut claim. Toolstation calls it brushed. It is not the amazon ASIN in this comparison. Both can be on sale at once. Read the model line on the page you are paying.
Does brushless mean I can skip a big battery?
No. The RAG18BL-0 is brushless and still bare, and UK reviews say packs under 5 Ah stall. Brushless here is a motor line plus a larger disc and a stated jam shutdown. If your only pack is 2.0 Ah, neither body is a comfortable grinding tool, though a short bolt may still be possible.
