Galvanised tub buying guide

Updated: October 2026

You are trying to tell a party drinks tub from a shallow garden tub, and the amazon.co.uk title is doing too much of the talking. Extra large, stainless, and insulated all show up on pages whose centimetres and material fields are quieter. This galvanised tub buying guide is the reading order for the nine listings in the [zinc tub comparison](/hub/swimming-pools/zinc-tub), priced from £12.99 to £47.99. It does not name a winner. Here you match the job, then the litres, then the lines that disagree. The Products Compared editorial team assembled this from those amazon.co.uk captures on 16 October 2026, with no lab test. A qualifying purchase can earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

What you are buying

A zinc tub in this set is an open galvanised or zinc metal vessel. It is not a paddling pool, and it is not a stock tank you sit in. Stock tanks sold as ice baths start around £390 and are not in this table. You are choosing a drinks tub of about 14–24 litres, a garden tub about 15 cm deep, or one pan about 29 cm high. Ice needs a base that holds water. A planter that must drain needs holes. One tub cannot be both. If the same photograph is sold for ice and for herbs, read zinc tub drinks or planter before you compare prices. A planter line on the Sibosen bullets does not move that pack into the garden group. The Consumer Rights Act 2015, section 9, treats the description as part of quality.

Capacity, shape, and pack

Read litres and centimetres together, and do not average two figures into a third capacity. Extra large on the 1ZIZIFA8 14 litre two-pack, at £22.94, is contradicted by UK reviews that call the tubs small. No centimetres are printed there, and the material field says cast iron while the bullets say galvanised steel. The LIVIVO DB150 at £12.99 is the single 24 litre tub. The bullets say 43 cm by 32 cm by 27 cm at the rim. Another field says 46.5 cm by 33 cm by 31.5 cm. Both lines stay. The Katai, at £37.95, is 62 cm by 35 cm by 20 cm, printed as 5.5 gallons, and the file does not say which gallon, so this guide does not convert it. The YQGQSUAK four-pack is £47.99, rated 5.0 from one review, and its specification size does not match the bullet. Garden tubs are shallower. The Esschert OZ70 is 21 litres at £24.99, about 45 cm by 59 cm by 14.8 cm. The MAISONICA is 14.66 litres at £26.45, with no review line. The pan tub at £44.99 is about 29 cm high, and litres are not printed. Sibosen’s shape field says round while the bullets say oval.

Coating and listing conflicts

Galvanised on these pages is not a claim to BS EN ISO 1461. That standard covers hot-dip coatings on fabricated iron and steel, and BSI says it does not apply to continuously galvanised sheet. None of the nine listings states a micron thickness. Three conflicts are large enough to change the order. The Esschert bullets describe an S-shaped hanging-basket hook, and the file carries a 220–240 V line. The model OZ70 and the size describe a tub. Buy it as a tub only when you mean OZ70. The Sibosen bullets say stainless steel and galvanised sheet in the same set, and they claim insulation for several hours with no insulation figure. Do not treat that sentence as a measured chill time. The LIVIVO specification field says a lid is included. The bullets never describe a lid, so treat a lid as unconfirmed. The pan tub’s usage field says indoor, while UK reviews use it for plants and a small pond.

What to verify before you order

Fill the tub on a dry floor and watch the seams before you trust it with ice or with a pond. Several UK reviews of the LIVIVO say it held ice and drinks with no leak. One UK review reports a slight seep. One pan-tub review says it leaked the first time it was filled. The drinks sequence, including drying the coating, is on how to use a galvanised ice tub. Do not lift a full tub when the seller says not to. The YQGQSUAK pair carries that warning. None of these listings states a food-contact approval. Keep drinks in bottles or use a liner, and do not store drinking water in a party tub. If the tub will sit in the garden as water, that is a child-safety decision rather than a coating decision.

Common questions

How many litres do I need for a small table versus a wedding line?
A printed 15 litre oval, about 39 cm by 23 cm by 15 cm, is a table tub. The 24 litre LIVIVO is the single larger drinks vessel in this file, at £12.99. A line of several stations is a pack question. The Sibosen four-pack is £35.98, with 15 litres in the bullet, not four copies of the 24 litre tub. This file does not support a bottle count, so plan from centimetres and litres.
Is 4 gallons the same as 15 litres?
On the Sibosen and YQGQSUAK bullets, 15 litres and 4 gallons are printed together. Four US gallons is about 15.1 litres, so that pairing is the US gallon. Four UK gallons is about 18.2 litres. The Katai capacity is printed only as 5.5 gallons, and the file does not say which gallon, so it is not converted here.
Why does the Esschert page talk about a hanging bracket?
The amazon.co.uk bullets for the OZ70 describe an S-shaped hook, and the capture includes a voltage field. The model is OZ70, the included-components line is one oval zinc tub, and the size is a shallow tub of about 21 litres. The maker page matches the tub. Read the model and the size, and treat the bracket sentences as the wrong description.
Is a bright finish the same as hot-dip galvanising?
Hot-dip coatings on fabricated steel are generally thicker and duller. A bright, smooth zinc coat is the look of a thinner electrolytic finish. None of these listings states a thickness or claims BS EN ISO 1461. One UK review of the YQGQSUAK pair describes a bright thin sheet. Dry the tub after use either way.
Should I buy one 24 litre tub or four 15 litre tubs?
Choose the LIVIVO for one drinks station: lowest price in the file, 24 litres, 4.5 from 578 reviews. Choose the Sibosen four-pack at £35.98 when you need four small vessels and can accept a page that says both stainless and galvanised. A lower price per tub is not a quality score. The YQGQSUAK four-pack at £47.99 has one review and two sizes that do not match.
